Abstract

How does Christian higher education relate to spiritual formation? In this study I will present a broader picture of spirituality of Christian higher education and then layout a spirituality of classroom. I contend that Christian higher education must aim to educate the whole person, and as such, interactions in the classroom is an integral part of this educational-spiritual formation. A classroom must be seen as a space where teacher and students can find God, participate in the divine life, and give space for the others to grow in all dimensions of life. A classroom, therefore, is a space for contemplating the divine presence. To elaborate this topic, I shall, firstly, adumbrate the correlation between spirituality and education. Secondly, as a philosophical grounding of the Christian higher education, I shall discuss the Roman Catholic intellectual tradition and especially the Ignatian tradition which has been contributing to significant developments in the history of higher education. Thirdly, I shall sketch a contextual spirituality of classroom which is inspired by Christian theological tradition, especially that of trinitarian theology.

The core of personality education is involving students in education. It means students have chance to have a role in the school. When the students have a role in the school, they integrate the good value in the school to themselves so that they have good characteristics. A right and good personality education will bear a good fruit that is the students will blossom appropriate to their age.

Abstract

This main aim of this research is to comprehend the ecclesiastical vision of Cardinal Darmojuwono, the Archbishop of Semarang (1964-1981). On the one side, inspired by the Second Council, he desired and tried to establish the Archbishop of Semarang as autonomous people of God, not only restricted to the internal autonomy, but also to others, outside the Archdiocese of Semarang. In internal scope of the Catholic Church, such effort was done by fostering the spirit of missionary. On the other side, he developed the Church in social external scope, such movement was realized by the involvement of te Church in the society. So, it is inferred that Cardinal Darmojuwono had an ecclesiastical vision to establish a Church which is autonomous, missionary, and society-involved. In order to realized that ecclesiastical vision agents, he underlined the role of Christian families. They are not only the smallest sociological group but also the implementation and the experience of Gods Kingdom in the society.

Abstract

De Christina Expeditione apud Sinas, which was translated into China in the Sixteenth Century: The Journals of Matthew Ricci 1583-1610, is one of Riccis most important manuscripts since it reveals how Matthew Ricci accomplished his mission in China. Matthew Ricci was a man from the West, which at the time was entering the age of Renaissancea modern era marked by significant cultural, scientific and economic growths. He then utilized the components of Renaissance Humanism culture to break through Chinese people. From there, Ricci was able to move beyond the administrative and geographic boundaries, either physically or culturally, from one country to another country. Learning from Riccis manuscript, it is clear that today a conquest model of mission can only do disservice, especially if the Church wants to proclaim the kingdom of God, which is full of love, peace, and communion. It may cause suspicion or denouncement of the Church service. It is therefore of paramount importance for the Church to remember her basic duty, which is to proclaim the Good News of the love of God in Jesus Christ. Consequently, the Church must become a community which manifests the sacrament of the Divine wherever she may be.

Abstract

The current paper aims to highlight the unrestricted obedience expressed by Mary when declaring herself ‘the handmaid of the Lord’ and when demanding that the divine will would be accomplished in her, just when she agrees to be chosen by God as virginal mother of his divine Son incarnate. The elements of the unrestricted obedience are drawn out of the text Luke 1:26-38 using the Narrative Analysis Method. Apart from that, these elements were also sought and found by analyzing the Second Vatican Council’s Dogmatic Constitution ‘Lumen Gentium, especially the section on the Church’s view of Mary (53-69). Looking to Mary as an example, Christians learn to obey God in the path of faith and finds the values that lead him or her through the paths of the Christian life.

Abstract

Abstract

Henri de Lubac describes spiritual worldliness as the worst temptation for the Chruch. De Lubacs thought about spiritual worldliness is frequently cited by Pope Francis. This temptation threatens and brings the Church into destruction. The way to prevent this temptation is to understand the churchs identity and mission correctly. If the Church does not maintain the tensions in the way she understands herself, she falls into worldliness. The tendency to understand the Church only in her human or divine dimension will bring the Church into worldliness. This article will help the Church in examining herself, whether she is doing her mission for the greater glory of God or she is doing it for her own glory.

Abstract

This article deals with Gaudium et Spes, pastoral constitution on the Church in modern World. Gaudium et Spes is the one most valuable result of the Second Vatican Council. Throughout this constitution, the Council highlights the church's willingness to be with the contemporary realm. The Council also wants to create an environment of dialogue, where the church would engage in all the forces of the modern world. The church must be involved in the world. Vatican II stirs the consciences of all Christians, reminding them of their solidarity, to fulfill the will and the prayer of Jesus Christ that all his followers be one, even as he and the Father are one (Cfr. GS 1).

Faith is a total surrender to God. Faith also means believing in God who nourishes for human life. Trust in God is a form of personal faith between humans and God. But it's not enough if we just have personal faith, because humans were called to believe communally too. Personal and communal faith means manifesting and celebrating our faith in real situations.Faith in the Church and society is a holy and living communion. Personal and communal faith is a form of faith that is in accordance with the essence of the Catholic Church.
