Abstract

The Early Miocene limestone  of  Baturaja Formation crops out along the Air Saka Section, having a measured  thickness  of 247 metres. This carbonate  formation  lies conformabty  on the siliciclastic  sediments  of Talangakar Formation, and it is in turn, conformably   overlain  by the silicidastic  sediments   of Gumai  Formation.  The limestone was affected  by several diagenetic processes, such as bioturbation,   fossil cavity filling,  replacement,  cementation, recrystallization, micritization, dolomitization,  authigenic-mineral  formation, compaction,   dissofution,   stylolitization, and fracturing.  Some  of these diagenetic processes have a very weak to moderate coeficient  of interrelationship. Keywords:Petrography, carbonate grains, cementation, meteoric, statistical test

Abstract

The studied area is located in the low-land area of the northern part of Tondano Lake which is dominated by Quaternary lake and fluvial deposits. Based on the sub-surface data, the lithofacies distribution of the deposit can be divided into: (a) pyroclastic deposit, (b) repetition between channel sand lake and lake or swamp deposits and, (c) floodbasin and swamp deposits. The maximum development of the environmental deposition of Tondano Lake is indicated by formation of 1 up to 3 facies, while facies 4 which is situated above them was influenced by decrease of the lake environment. The increasing and decreasing of the lake environment in this area can not be traced continously. It shows a combination of spesific facies arrangement, such as: the lower part, indicated by volcanic activities which were deposited by water; the middle part, indicated by lake invironment; and the upper part, indicated by the end of a volcanic activity which was then followed by the development of a swamp environment and flood basin. Keywords: facies, eruption, climate, tectonics

Abstract

The Embaluh-Rajang Group in Bhayangkara region had suffered polyphase deformation. Regional fold shown in Landsat Imagery exhibit at least three periodes of deformation on the study area. The first deformation D1 main principal stress (s11) was directed relatively to east-west and resulted regional folds on the north-south direction. The second deformation D2 main principal stress (s12) was directed relatively to northwest-southeast and formed northeast-southwest trending regional folds. The third deformation D3 main principal stress (s13) was directed relatively to east northeast-west southwest and resulted local folds on the north northwest-south southeast trending direction. Faults occurred in study area could be classified into six main groups. They are fault group of A (north-south), B (north northeast-south southwest), C (northeast-southwest) and D (southeast-northwest), E (south southeast-north northwest). Keywords : polydeformation, fold, fault, regional structure

Abstract

Abstract

A study of deep groundwater dynamic pattern on the basis of radioisotope 14C analysis has been carried out in the Bekasi  area. Some samples of deep groundwater were collected for14 C analysis. The results were plotted on the locality map concerned and a contour pattern was obtained. The pattern shows that the deep groundwater age of the area south of Bekasi is younger than those of the north and northwest area. This suggests that deep groundwater in the study area flows in the north and northwest directions. Meanwhile, Bekasi area is the recharge area.  Keywords: Bekasi dynamic pattern, deep groundwater, 14C analysis

Abstract

The Quaternary deposits in the Labuhan, Belawan, North Sumatera, have been studied. These deposits have been correlated, using sections on 1:100 scale.  From the correlation of thirteen boring logs, the Quaternary sediments can be divided into facies: (a) marine, (b) beach, (c) marsh, (d) floodbasin, and (e) fluvial channels. Furthermore, the Quaternary sediment consists of 4 (four) depositional cycles namely interval A, B, C, and D.The stratigraphic succession of Quaternary and basin fill in the studied area were influenced by global events. Changes in climatological conditions between sub-humid to optimum into subhumid to dry are the effect from Milankovitch cycles; and sea-level fluctuations from high sea-level into maximum to low sea-level were correlated to global changes of sea-level. Keywords: sedimentary environment, climate, sea-level, global

Abstract

The Bagelen Beds of Cential Java are re-defined and described as a very deep marine olistostrome deposit of Early Oligocene age (about 321/2 MYBP).  There is no indication that the clays have been tectonised and they are considered a pebbly-claystone or slump deposit rather than a tectconic melange. The benthic microfaunas are analogous to those found in open-ocean palaeobathymetries at around 3,000 metres, but it is argued that this interpretation may not be applicable to semi-restricted basins in a tectonically complex area. A shallower depth,of very roughly 1,000 to 2,000 m, is argued to be possible and that this would better fit tile epi-cratonic geological setting. The significance of a deep marine, slump-filled environment in the Early Oligocene of Central Java is discussed, and a suggestion made for the origin of the unusual  mud-volcano found in the Sangiran Dome. Keywords: Bagelen beds, Olistostrome, slum deposit benthic microfaunas, epi-cratonic

Abstract

Fluid inclusions study have been conducted in the Lumban Julu area, Tobasa Residence, North Sumatra Province, in the frame work research of programs on metallogeny in the Bukit Barisan zone, North Sumatra segment. Samples analyzed are derived from quartz veins associated with gold mineralization. Metal content of the veins are 12 -131 ppm Cu, 13 - 495 ppm Pb, 8-183 ppm Zn, 2-407 ppm Ag and 0,01-1,85 ppm Au. These quartz veins are milky-white to transparent, prismatic shape and crustiform banding, colloform in texture, containing quartz and several other minerals such as chlorite, clay, epidote and opaque. Fluid inclusions within the quartz host form negative crystals, made up of two components (bi-phase) consisted of liquid and vapor. The liquid phases consist of primary and secondary inclusions and occur within quartz crystal and fractured zone. Liquid Fluid inclusion measurement shows that homogenization temperature can be divided into high-T (326 to >400°C) and low-T (135-262)°C. This hydrothermal fluid is rich in water with low salinity (- 0.28 – (- 1.36) % NaCl equivalent). The data confirm that boiling processes took place when mineral was deposited. Therefore, it is concluded that mineralization processes in the area comprise two systems of mineral depositions, firstly associated with high-T with mesothermal system at ± 1600 m depth and the second one associated with ephythermal system at ± 550 m depth.Key word: fluid inclusion, quartz, epithermal, Tobasa

Abstract

The sediments in this area are of fluvial and swarnp systems, The fluvial deposits include channel sand, and fine grained cIay of floodplain deposits. The swarnp deposits of Iine-grained include humic clay and peaty clay, the basement of this Quaternary deposits is tufaceous clay of pyroclastic. The character of Quaternary depositional style at the PangkaIan Balai and surrounding is dominantly influenced by autogenic mechanisms (internal processes), such as river channel systems and sediment supply from the    surrounding hills.  The cIimate factor of allogenic rnechanisms (externaI processes) is specific to related humidity as chemicaI, physics, or biology aspects in time. Keywords: Fasies, fluvial and swamp, internal and external process.
