Abstract

The NNE-SSW trending Citarik fault cut acrossWestern Jawa passing  through Pelabuhan ratu, Bogor and Bekasi. At least, the fault has been active since Middle Miocene tectonic period. At that time, the Citarik fault was a transtensional fault, howeversince Plio-Pleistoceneuntil Recent, thisfaults has been developed as a left strike slip fault. The active Citarik Fault may generate earthquakes, and therefore it has to becarefully considered in planning Infrastructure developmentin Jabotabekand Pelabuhan ratu (the capital of Sukabumi Districtt and a tourist area). Keywords: Citarik fault, Middle Miocene - Recent, transtensional fault, left strike slip fault

Abstract

This study was taken as a part of volcano geology mapping at Ngebel area including volcanostratigraphy and structural geology interpretations by optimizing the satellite remote sensing and terestrial data. Ngebel area is located at the western flank of Mt. Wilis volcanic complex, Madiun District, East Java, Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to obtain the effectiveness of atmospherically corrected satellite image of Landsat-8 OLI (Operational Land Imager) TIRS (Thermal Infrared Sensor) and rock magnetic susceptibility for identifying volcanic products. The Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS image processing is performed in two steps: pre and post field observation. The pre field observation step was treated by processing and analysing the Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS to produce geomorphological units, circular/linear feature, rock unit boundary, and interpreted eruption center by examining image color, tone, and texture. Furthermore, the reflectance spectra analyses of Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS were obtained to define detailed volcanic product unit boundary after the field observation performed. Magnetic susceptibility of the rocks was used to classify the volcanostratigraphic units based on their magnetization degree of the induced rocks. Considering the  magnetic susceptibility, there are suggested two groups of volcanic unit or Hummocks (Gumuk): Hummock of Ngebel with low susceptibility (9.9×10-3 – 20.7×10-3) and Hummock of Manyutan with medium (20.7×10-3 – 48.7×10-3) to high susceptibility (≥48.7×10-3). Noticing the reflectance spectra of Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS, it can be defined five volcanic rock units: pyroclastic fall Ngebel (reflectance value at  0.63 – 0.71), pyroclastic flows Ngebel (reflectance value at 0.71 – 0.74),  pyroclastic flow Manyutan (reflectance value at 0.74 – 0.78), lava Manyutan 1 (reflectance value at 0.78 – 0,84), and Lava Manyutan 2 (reflectance value at  ≥0.84).Keyword: Volcanostratigraphy, Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS, magnetic susceptibility, reflectance, Ngebel

Abstract

An intra-arc basin, Late Miocene to Pliocene in age in the region of Majalengka - Banyumas area has been an interesting theme to be discussed. The volcanoclastic sediments pathway in this basin showing different direction compare to the time equivalent sediments in the adjacent Bogor Trough. Bouguer anomaly analyses clearly imaged the E-W regional structural grains of Bogor – Bandung –Majalengka crosscut pair of NW-SE Gabon dan Pamanukan-Karangbolong strike slip fault that parallel with the postulated intra-arc basin. These NW-SE structural lineaments could be responsible for the development of sub-basins and volcanic products through splay or duplex fault or pull apart mechanism in context oblique plate subduction in Early Miocene. Study of Majenang sub-basin, whereas epiclastic rocks deposited as sediment-gravity flows and their pyroclastic, shows the significance variation, upper, middle slope to basinal plain within the deep sea submarine-fan complex of the Late Miocene-Pliocene age during the development of this basin. The source of sediment deposits was associated with calk alkalin back arc volcanic edifice that grown and separated the sub-basins and other volcanoclastic source from Southern Mountain (Old Andesite Formation). The development of this basin indicates complex history since this region is now inverted and built the mountain range. Therefore further tectonic reconstruction in this region is required for better understanding the geologic history merit further geological exploration prospect. Keywords: intra-arc basin, volcanoclastic, Bouguer anomaly, sediment-gravity flows, back arc volcanic, calk alkalin

Abstract

Abstract

Geochemistry analysis (Rock-Eval pyrolisis, GC and GC-MS) on 2 (two) samples of Paleogene claystone, 3 (three) samples Neogene claystone, and 1 (one) oil seepage sample in Serayu Basin. The result of analysis shows that TOC of the Neogene claystone is higher than the Paleogene claystone. One sample of the Neogene claystone is able to be classified as source rock for oil and gas, whilst the others including the Paleogene claystone show as gas source rock. The geochemistry composition of Neogene claystone at Gintung River indicates that the oil seepage can be correlated with the rocks. The kerogen type of all claystone in the area ranges from Type III (terrestrial) to Type II (mixing terrestrial and marine). Keywords: hydrocarbon source rock, Rock-Eval pyrolisis, gas chromatography, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, Serayu Basin

Abstract

Abstract

This study was based on sedimentological analyses of seven boreholes located along the NW to SE traverse, approximately parallel to coastal line of Cirebon. The penetration of the bore head varies from 8 to 13 m. Holocene subsurface of alluvial deposits can be divided into seven environment systems, consisting of Gintung Formation and deposits of offshore, nearshore, beach sand, swamp, channel river, and floodplain. Based on stratigraphic aspects, the succession of that sediments can be divided into three sedimentary intervals (IP I-III). Each interval is typically for environment changes which is controlled by changes of sea level, such as high sea level (IP I), sea level falling (IP II), and low sea level (IP III). The Quaternary dynamics related to environment changes and changes of basin fill were influenced by universal of climatic circulation, regional tectonic, and local of sea level changes. Keywords: Aluvium deposits, sea level, tectonic, climate

Abstract

The studied area is geographically located on the northern coast of Jawa, which is an open beach influenced by wave action from the northwest and northeast direction. The erosion process occurs relatively in the northeastern coastline of the Lasem area. Sediment supply from the northeastern of Lasem tends to be deposited in the central and the southwestern part of the studied area. The thickness of sediment of subsequence B4 on line L-1 in the southwestern part of the studied area is thicker compared with subsequense B4 on the line L-17 of the northeastern part of the studied area. The eastern part of Lasem can be developed as a harbor area. Keywords : bearing capacity, sediment supply

Abstract

Along the Merak - Bakauheni route, Sunda Strait, there are some island composing by Tertiary volcanic rocks. Relating to the plan of construction of Sunda Strait Bridge, several Tertiary and Quaternary volcanic islands at Merak – Bakauheni ferry route are examined as paleovolcanoes in order to evaluate their potential hazards. Methods that used in this study are remote sensing analyses of satellite image and topographic maps, and field geologic investigation. As results, three paleovolcanoes are recognized, namely Harimaubalak, Kandangbalak and Sangiang. To understand the history of their volcanic activities radiometric analyses are required. Those three paleovolcanoes are located in a line having NW – SE direction, considered as a weak zone because the pattern similarity with the active Sumatran fault system. To anticipate the possibilities of opening new vents or reactivated eruptions from the weak zone it is suggested to make further studies on seismicity, tectonic analyses, and the present of sub surface hot sources.Key words : bakauheni, harimaubalak, paleovolcano, sangiang, sunda strait, lampung
