Abstract

This study aims to develop student worksheets with a guided inquiry approach that meet valid and practical criteria. The type of research is research and development (RD). The development model used is a 4D model consisting of define, design, development, and disseminate stages. This study involved material validators, media validators, and 7th grade students of Al Azhar 26 Islamic Junior High School Yogyakarta. The research data was obtained from the results of the assessment using a validation sheet and student response questionnaires. The average score of the assessment results from the material validators is 74 with very good validity level criteria, from media validators 127.5 with very good validity level criteria, and from the large group practicality test an average of 88 with very good practicality criteria. Student worksheets are declared valid and practical based on the stages of development and established criteria, and can then be used to explore students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Problem-solving is an essential ability that must be achieved by each individual and problem-solving itself has become integral part of mathematics learning. However, many Indonesian students need problem-solving skills. Android-based learning media is one of the efforts in improving students' problem-solving skills.  This study aims to find out the effectiveness of the use of android-based learning media called Teman Ritma. This research is kind of experimental research in the form of true-experimental with a design namely pretest post-test control group design.  The sample is determined using purposive sampling techniques and produces a sample i.e., class VII-G students as a control group and class VII-H students as an experimental group with the number of students from each group is 30 students. Data collection techniques use observations, interviews, pretest questions and post-test problem-solving skills that contain social arithmetic material. The results showed that the use of android based learning media “Teman Ritma” was effective in improving students' problem-solving skills. This statement is proved by the results of the Mann-Whitney test which shows that Asymp's value. Sig. (2-tailed) less than 0.05 (0.027 0.05) which means that learning with Teman Ritma media is more effective than using the learning media that teachers use. This conclusion was reinforced based on an average difference test that showed that the average increase in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group (60.12 45). Based on the test, it concluded that the use of android-based learning media “Teman Ritma” is effective to improve the problem-solving skills of seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe students' perspectives and experiences regarding Quizizz's features: leaderboards, points, power-ups, redemption questions, and answer keys in online mathematics learning during the covid-19 pandemic. The subjects of this study were 32 students of class X MIPA at a private high school in Yogyakarta. Subjects took twice quizzes, then filled out an open questionnaire about students' perspectives and experiences regarding the five Quizizz features. Data analysis was carried out using the network analysis method, but the construction of the themes was done manually. The results of the study are as follows. Leaderboards motivate subjects to play better. Points affect the subject's motivation. The number of points causes the subject to be provoked to rush to work on the problem. Power-ups are considered a subject of appreciation but can also be considered strange and disruptive to the game. Redemption Questions is a feature that the subject has been waiting for. Subjects remember the correct answers in preparation for the Redemption Questions. The answer key as feedback is used to study material and self-evaluation. All of these features except the leaderboards were deemed the subject unsuitable for application to quizzes in the context of an exam.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the analysis of students' mathematical communication skills in solving SPLDV material questions in terms of verbal linguistic intelligence. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method. The subjects in this study were 3 students with high, medium and low levels of verbal linguistic intelligence. The results of this research shows that the KVLT subject can fulfill all indicators of mathematical communication both written and verbal in solving SPLDV questions. KVLT subjects can write and explain orally mathematical ideas or ideas, write and explain understandings related to mathematical ideas, and are able to use terms, mathematical notations and their structures in presenting an idea and describing relationships and situation models. KVLS subjects meet the indicators of communication skills written mathematics in expressing ideas or ideas in writing but lacking in explaining orally. KVLS subjects did not meet the indicators of mathematical communication skills in understanding and evaluating mathematical ideas both orally and in writing. Subjects are also less able to use terms, mathematical notation and structures in presenting an idea and describing relationships and situation models. KVLR subjects do not meet the indicators of mathematical communication in expressing ideas or ideas in writing and orally. The subject of KVLR does not meet the indicators of mathematical communication skills in understanding and evaluating mathematical ideas both orally and in writing, on indicators of mathematical communication skills in using terms, mathematical notation and structures in presenting an idea, as well as describing relationships and situation models the subject cannot meet indicators of mathematical communication skills both written and oral.Keyword: Mathematical Communication Skil, Verbal-Linguistic Intelligence, SPLDV

Abstract

Problem solving skills are useful for training students to face increasingly complex problems. Learning models that have not been able to stimulate these abilities need to be applied. Thus, the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Think Pair Share learning model to improve students' problem solving abilities. This type of research is experimental research with pretest posttest control group design. The samples in this study were class VIIIA students as the experimental class and class VIIIC students as the control class, each class totaling 32 students. Data collection techniques used interviews, observations, and problem-solving ability test questions on the Pythagorean theorem material. The results showed that the application of the Think Pair Share learning model has been proven to be effective in improving students' problem solving abilities. Based on the results of the increase in students' problem-solving ability tests, the experimental class was higher than the control class (32.5 21.88). In addition, the application of the Think Pair Share learning model gives students more time to think deeply about what is being explained or experienced (thinking, answering, and helping each other). In addition, the TPS learning model also provides opportunities for students to think deeply and can help each other.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to describe the application of project-based learning based on local wisdom in the Number Theory course. The subjects of this study were students of the Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP UST, who took the Number Theory course in the even semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year, totaling 40 students. The instruments used in this study were in the form of project report documents and interview guidelines. The project report document contains the report title, project design, activity schedule, project implementation (tools, materials, and product manufacturing steps), project results (presenting the steps for using the product made). Project appraisal includes planning, preparation, data processing, data presentation, reports, and presentations. While the interview guide is in the form of student responses regarding project-based learning which includes messages, impressions, input, and suggestions. The analysis technique used is the descriptive qualitative analysis technique. The results of data analysis provide information that 100% of students can make project planning well, 58.62% of students can prepare for project implementation well, 79.31% of students do data processing well, 72.41% of students can present data well, 96.55% were able to make reports well, and 55.17% were able to present project results very well. Students are very interested in this local wisdom-based media creation project because they are directly involved in media making, so they gain valuable experience in preparing and presenting project results. These media are not only useful for explaining number theory material, especially GCD and LCM materials, through this media students also learn to preserve traditional games that are almost extinct.

Abstract

The student understanding about mathematical concept, especially on the topic of linear equation in two variables was importance. Aim of this study to develop mathematic material based on Realistic Mathematics Education to build students mathematical concept understanding. The material was developed upon 4-D model of Thiangrajan and was modified to be defined, designed, and developed. Therefore the realistic mathematic education instruction had good contribution on students thinking process. Population of this study are whole students grade VII junior high school of Bina Insan Mandiri and subject consist of ten students who were chose by purposive sampling based on evaluation test and students activity trough instructions. The developed material validated with descriptive analysis while quantitative data were calculated with score average.
