Abstract

The effect of Six Sigma on Performance of MSF’s in South-East Nigeria. The main objective is to determine the effects of Six Sigma on the performance of MSF’s in South-East, Nigeria. While others are to: determine the extent at which process defines influence the customers’ patronage of their product, determine the extent at which process measurement influences product positioning and determine the extent at which improvement on production processes influence customers retention. The result shows that process definition practice among MSF’s significantly influenced customers’ patronage, process measurement among MSF’s was found significant influencing positioning and production improvement significantly influenced customer retention among MSF’s in South-East Nigeria. The study concluded adoption of Six Sigma practices positively influences the performance of the MSF’s in South-East Nigeria.

Abstract

Health Promotion in Clean and Healthy behavior program is a behavior that can be affected by attitudes, subjective norms, intentions and behaviors. The purpose of this study is to application attitude, subjective norms, intentions, and behavior clean and healthy by using Theory of Reasoned Action. This research type was an analytical observational study with cross-sectional. Research location was in Imogiri traditional market in Bantul Yogyakarta Indonesia. The sampling technique was accidental sampling. Data collection techniques were questionnaire and observation sheet. Data analysis used Amos 24. Attitudes affected the intention; Attitude effect on Behavioral Beliefs; Subjective norms affect Outcome Evaluations; The intention affected the intention of disposing of; The intention affected the intention of utilizing latrines; The intention affected the intention of not smoking in the market; intention affected the intention to wash hands with soap; Clean and healthy life behavior has an effect on non-smoking behavior in the market; Clean and healthy life behavior has an effect on hand washing behavior with soap.

Abstract

Knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding has been proven, through previous studies, as one of the factors that affect the readiness of pregnant mothers in exclusive breastfeeding. It is also widely reported about the job or profession mothers (especially those done outside the home) as factors inhibiting the implementation of exclusive breastfeeding. This study aims to examine the role of the moderator job as the relationship between knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding with maternal readiness in exclusive breastfeeding. Cross-sectional study performed on pregnant women with first child, a sample of 139 respondents was taken to the criteria does not work (housewives) or working outdoors. Enclosed questionnaire was used to measure the knowledge and readiness of mothers in exclusive breastfeeding. The data analysis technique used is the linear regression model. The results showed that the significant effect of knowledge on the readiness of pregnant women at work (R = 0.412; p = 0.002) but not significant in pregnant women who do not work (R = 0.187; p = 0.086). It can be concluded that the work has a role as moderator effect of exclusive breastfeeding knowledge about the readiness of pregnant mothers in exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

The Hindu Kaharingan society of Dayak Dusun in South Barito watershed has a very strong divine insight as reflected in the aspects of their lives. The religion was not in the major religions, Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism, and Hinduism. It was not limited to the world of its tribal environment. It was related to the essential for its own ancestors. Hindu doctrine that was often seen generally regarding the implementation of the religious ceremonies. It was called yadnya. It defined as the sacred sacrifices were conducted sincerely. Due to the diversity for each activity, it was done in accordance with the concept included Desa (place), Kala (time), and Patra (situation and condition). Kaharingan Hindu society was located in the South Barito watershed. There was a mandatory ceremony to be performed. The Liau ancestors can be detached from suffering and misery and could reach the realm of eternity. It was Lummut mountain. Usik Liaugame still exists in the Hindu Kaharingan society although it was often classified that the game as a deviant behavior. Due to it was toward the values of Hinduism and positive law. The religious meaning values of the game were forwarded to the ancestors. The now game implementation ceremony has undergone a shift. The society was bound to the tradition. It was assumed that the game was a pure traditional ceremony was inserted with a gambling game made the event to do business for the momentary benefit. The ritual ceremony was mandatory to be implemented as a form of devotion to his ancestral devotion.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to synergize and integrate theoretical-conceptual with the development of a child-friendly city (CFC) related to the community, local elites and the government of Kendari city. It is also intended to explore the values that exist in childrens traditional games in the area of Kendari city with the empirical reality that occurs during the process of urban development. This research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection technique used in-depth interviews and field observations. The results show that childrens traditional games in Kendari city today tend to experience a shift towards modern games based on computer and television technology. This condition affects the behavior and character of children. Children easily give up, unable to cooperate, difficult to interact with the environment are some negative impact of the modern games. Support and cooperation from various parties are needed to overcome this problem. Development of CFC is a government priority program. The CFC provides guarantees for the fulfillment of the children rights. To realize a CFC, the government should prepare the childrens creative space, cooperate with the relevant parties, and form a task force for CFC. The results of the research can be used as a recommendation in the form of regulations and policies of Kendari city government toward the development of CFC through childrens traditional games approach.

Abstract

The research analyzes the process of emergence and development of the sciences related to economic and financial management worldwide and in Ecuador and highlights the social role of universities in terms of ensuring the new system of financial administration developed by the country, shown the model of interrelation between the three main actors in the Ecuadorian economy where universities have an important role in the economic and financial management linked to the state and the activities that take place in the academy are present, be it teaching or research. The objective of the work lies in knowing the role of Ecuadorian universities in the economic and financial management, the method used in the study was the literature review.

Abstract

The dearth in research in Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) had driven the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to provide policies and mandates that are largely geared towards the improvement of research productivity. Saint Mary’s University responded through Faculty Research Development Program, a scheme borne of the plans of the University Research Center (IDP Year 2013-2014) that aims to strengthen and enhance the research skills of faculty members. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of the research faculty development program workshop in writing full-blown research proposals. It involved the quantitative type of research using the posttest-only control group experimental design since the subjects were evaluated after the intervention. Evaluative in nature, it was conducted at Saint Mary’s University, located at Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya in Cagayan Valley. There were 25 subjects of the study who were all participants in the seminar-workshop. Researcher-made questionnaires and evaluated research proposals were the primary sources of the data in the study. Findings revealed that the research faculty development program workshop on writing research proposals was efficient. Hence, faculty members are highly recommended to continue participating in research capability training to become part of the tri-fold function of the university - the instruction, community extension, and research.

Abstract

This study examines “Contribution of Business Credit Society for Increasing Society Income in Tambawu Village Denpasar Bali. Societys Business Credit is a program that belongs to the poverty reduction group based on the empowerment of small businesses. This policy aims to improve access to capital and other resources for small business. Problems in this research: How is the contribution of Societys Business Credit to small and medium business community in Tambawu Village Denpasar Bali. The purpose of this study: to know and describe the contribution of Societys Business Credit to the business mastering medium community in the Tambawu Village Denpasar Bali. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method, using proportional sampling technique consisting of Bank of financiers and some small and medium business in Tambawu Village, Denpasar Bali. Societys Business Loan is a working capital financing scheme specifically for small businesses in the productive business sector whose business is feasible but has limitations in fulfilling the requirements set by banks. Societys Business Credit is a credit program with a value of IDR. 5 million and a maximum of IDR. 500 million. The results show that all beneficiaries of the Societys Business Credit are helped and feel the benefits and contribution of this policy with the increasing volume of small and medium business group sales can also increase the income of the community in Tambawu Village Denpasar Bali.

Abstract

This paper considered the huge amount of money being expended on sales promotion in recent times and sought to know whether organizations that use such strategy have justification for such investment. It sought to know whether the increase in sales promotion expenses resulted to increase in the organizations’ sales volume as well as profitability. Nigerian Breweries Plc was used for the study because of its high-level involvement in sales promotion. Personal interview was used to collect relevant information from the key staff of the organization while the published annual report was to collect relevant information from the key staff of the organization while the published annual report was used to source information on the organization’s performance in terms of sales of sales turnover, marketing expenditure, and profitability. Findings showed that sales promotion was used because the strategy was very effective in developing and sustaining patronage and loyalty among channel members. It was further found that there was a strong positive correlation between sales promotion expenses and sales volume and between sales promotion expenses and profit. It was therefore recommended that organizations should use sales promotion as a strategy for leveraging sales and profit, provided that such organizations manage the sales promotion programmed effectively to generate desired results.

Abstract

The desire to realize a prosperous society in the true sense is a great goal to be achieved by the Indonesian people in the system of government of the Republic of Indonesia. The potential of fishery resources can actually be utilized to increase income which will be expected to improve the welfare of fishermen households. In fact, many fishermen still have not been able to increase their catch, so the income level of fishermen households does not increase so that the welfare of the fishermans life is still not realized. The fishery sector is the mainstay for most people as if they depend on their fishing business. This phenomenon is occurring in most parts of Indonesia, including fishermen in the coastal area of East Flores. In relation to the phenomenon, then the research questions are 1). What is the effect of production cost, technology, selling price, and fish catch on the income of fishermen in East Flores Regency? 2). What is the effect of production cost, technology, selling price, and fish catch on the welfare of fishermen households in East Flores Regency? 3). Does the income of fishermen mediate the cost of production, technology, selling prices, and the fish caught on the welfare of fishermen households in East Flores District? Research objectives: 1). Analyzing, whether the factors of production costs, technology, the selling price of fish, and the catch of fish affect the income of fishermen in East Flores Regency? 2). Analyzing factors of production cost, technology, selling price, and fish catches have an effect on to fisherman household welfare in East Flores regency. 3). Analyzing whether fishermans income mediates the influence of production cost factor, technology, selling price and fish catch on fisherman households prosperity in East Flores Regency. The population of this study is 7,761 people. Sampling was conducted by applying "Slovin theory" so that the number of samples was 99 people. Proportionate Probability Sampling method was then applied in order to determine the number of respondents. The samples of 99 respondents were interviewed based on the questionnaires provided beforehand. In the interviews, the variables obtained consist of Production cost (IDR), technology (modern and traditional), sales price (IDR), and yields (Kg), Revenue (IDR), and welfare level (measured according to Standard Bureau of Statistics with 7 indicators, namely: consumption pattern, health, Education, Security, Love, Social and Culture). The cost of production, technology, selling price, and fish catch have a significant effect on fishermans income. Fishermen income has a positive and significant impact on the welfare of fishermen households in East Flores Regency. Indirect effect analysis found that factor of production cost, technology, and fish catch have significant influence through fisherman income to fisherman household welfare in East Flores Regency.
