Abstract

The target of research was the officers of tuberculosis programs and cadres in 30 villages in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java. The method used in this research was survey and case study. The result of survey research showed that the village with high social capital had 9 times probability of surpassing CDR target ≥ 70% than the one with low social capital and 7.5 times higher than the one with low public participation. The result of case study showed that the social capital factors relating to CDR consisted of cognitive dimension encompassing trust and sense of belonging to tuberculosis program. Relational dimension encompassed social norm, personal service implantation, cooperation, and communication. Structural dimension involved public network and association. The factors of participation relating to CDR included need identification, activating the program resource, and leadership.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyse the direct and indirect effects of knowledge, attitudes, and eating behavior on anthropometry status and anemia incidence in female adolescents. This observational study employed case-control design and involved a total with total of female adolescents 117, classified into case groups (n=39) and control groups (n=78). The data were collected using questionnaires on knowledge and attitude about nutrition of anemia and eating behaviors, 2x24 hour food recall, Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), anthropometry, and also Hb level measurement by Cyanmethemoglobin method. The data were analysed using path analysis. The results showed that there was a significant relationship (p<0.05) and direct effects between eating behavior on anthropometry status and incidence of anemia, which accounted for 66% and 22% respectively. There was no relationship (p>0.05) and indirect effects between attitude and incidence of anemia with value 4.1%. Eating behavior had a strong effect on anemia incidence through anthopometry in female adolescents.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue in Indonesia. According to the Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI), stunting prevalence decreased from 27.7% (2019) to 19.8% (2024). Despite this progress, behavioral, sociocultural, and structural barriers continue to limit preventive efforts, particularly those related to maternal practices. This study aims to explore the implementation of health promotion by the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) and how these efforts shape maternal behavior in stunting prevention, interpreted using the Health Belief Model (HBM) framework. A qualitative phenomenological design was applied to explore mothers’ subjective experiences, meaning-making, and perceptions. A total of 30 informants from five sub-districts in Surakarta City were selected purposively, consisting of health workers, cadres, village officials, and community members. Data were collected through in-depth interviews (March-August 2024) and analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Three major themes emerged: Maternal perceptions regarding susceptibility and severity of stunting; Enabling and reinforcing factors influencing maternal preventive behaviors, including family support, digital health information, and government programs; and Perceived barriers related to economic constraints, poor knowledge, and misconceptions. The integration of TPPS activities, Posyandu services, and digital media strengthened cues to action and improved mothers' perceived benefits of prevention. The study highlights gaps in maternal understanding of stunting and identifies specific HBM components that influence preventive behavior. The findings provide new insight on how TPPS health promotion strategies can better target perceptions, barriers, and behavioral cues to improve maternal engagement in stunting prevention. Strengthening cross-sector collaboration and digital-based education is crucial for future intervention models.

Abstract

Background: Bone fractures are a significant public health issue, with 178 million new cases globally in 2019 and a prevalence of 5.5% in Indonesia. The Indonesian community tends to choose traditional treatment such as herbal medicine or surgical treatment for fractures, influenced by sociodemographic factors, culture, and individual perceptions. This study aims to analyze the Health Belief Model (HBM) factors that affect the choice of bonr fracture treatment services in the community. Subjects and Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Surakarta during April–May 2025, involving 200 participants, comprising 100 users of traditional bone-setting treatment and 100 users of orthopedic care. Data were collected using an online questionnaire covering demographic characteristics and HBM constructs. The data were analyzed using univariate methods, bivariate analysis with simple logistic regression, and multivariate analysis employing path analysis. Results: The decision to choose type bone fracture treatment care was directly influenced by perceived susceptibility (b = -2.30; 95% CI: -3.09 to -1.50; p < 0.00), benefits (b = 1.80; 95% CI: 0.89 to 2.72; p < 0.00), self-efficacy (b = 1.36; 95% CI: 0.51 to 2.22; p < 0.00), and action cues (b = 3.80; 95% CI: 1.70 to 5.90; p < 0.00), while the perception of barriers indirectly lowers self-efficacy (b = -0.65; 95% CI: -1.29 to -0.02; p < 0.04). Conclusion: The HBM constructs, especially perceived vulnerability, benefits, self-efficacy, and action cues, significantly influence the choice of treatment for fractures. Educational interventions are recommended to enhance the perception of the benefits of medical services and strengthen the self-efficacy of the community.
