Abstract

Invasive breast carcinoma is a malignant neoplasm with metastatic potential influenced by various histopathological parameters, including tumor budding (TB). TB has emerged as a potential indicator of tumor aggressiveness; however, differences in assessment criteria may affect its clinical relevance. This study aimed to evaluate the association between TB grade and lymphovascular invasion (LVI) as well as lymph node involvement in invasive breast carcinoma using three different assessment criteria. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 44 cases of invasive breast carcinoma that met the inclusion criteria. TB was assessed at the invasive front using the International Tumor Budding Consensus Conference (ITBCC) 2016 criteria, as well as the criteria proposed by Usta et al. and Manimaran et al. LVI and lymph node status were determined through histopathological examination. The associations between variables were analyzed using the chi-square test or Fisher’s exact test, as appropriate. Tumor budding grade based on one standardized assessment system demonstrated a significant association with both LVI and lymph node involvement. In contrast, the other two grading approaches did not show statistically significant associations. As conclusion, within the context of this study, the ITBCC 2016 criteria appear to be more representative in reflecting tumor invasive activity in invasive breast carcinoma. These findings support the potential role of tumor budding as an additional indicator of tumor aggressiveness and highlight the importance of standardizing its assessment method in invasive breast carcinoma. Keywords: invasive breast carcinoma; tumor budding; lymphovascular invasion; lymph node involvement

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder characterized by psychotic behavior, concrete thinking, and difficulties in processing information, affecting cognition, perception, emotion, movement, and behavior. Appropriate management of self-care deficits includes interventions aimed at improving personal hygiene. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of independent personal hygiene activities on the self-care independence of hospitalized patients with schizophrenia experiencing self-care deficits. This study employed a case report approach. Samples were selected using purposive sampling, and data were collected using a psychiatric nursing care format. The subjects consisted of four patients with schizophrenia who received nursing care including assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention planning, implementation, and evaluation through the application of Implementation Strategies 1–4 (SP1–SP4). The results of the seven-day intervention showed that patients were able to perform self-care activities, including bathing (hygiene), grooming, eating and drinking, and toileting. These findings suggest that the application of personal hygiene interventions can improve patients’ ability to perform self-care independently. It can be concluded that the implementation of independent personal hygiene activities was successful in achieving good personal hygiene conditions among hospitalized patients with schizophrenia. Keywords: schizophrenia; self-care deficit; personal hygiene; implementation strategy

Abstract

Occupational stress refers to harmful physical and emotional responses that arise when job demands exceed a worker’s capacity, resources, or needs. Prolonged exposure to such demands may adversely affect both mental and physical health. Previous studies indicate that seafarers are up to twice as vulnerable to stress-related risk factors compared with other occupational groups, potentially increasing the risk of illness and workplace accidents. This systematic literature review aimed to comprehensively identify risk factors associated with occupational stress among seafarers. Literature was retrieved from Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar using the keywords “work stress,” “risk factors,” “health and stress,” “psychosocial,” “job stress,” “stressors,” “seamen,” and “seafarers,” combined using the Boolean operators “OR” and “AND.” A total of 261 articles were identified and screened using the PRISMA flow diagram. Selected studies were critically appraised using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) quality assessment tools. Of the 21 full-text articles assessed, eight met the inclusion criteria for systematic review. The findings identified 14 occupational stress risk factors among seafarers: age, gender, education level, marital status, smoking status, years of service, employment status, excessive workload, low workload, job-related boredom, job demands, time pressure, interpersonal relationships, and job security. In conclusion, occupational stress risk factors among seafarers are multifaceted and diverse, encompassing individual, occupational, and psychosocial dimensions. Comprehensive and multi-stakeholder interventions are therefore essential to effectively prevent and manage work-related stress in this population. Keywords: occupational stress; risk factors; seafarers

Abstract

Occupational safety and health is a critical component in protecting workers and sustaining organizational operations, particularly in high-risk sectors such as energy, construction, and manufacturing. Conventional reactive approaches to occupational safety and health are often insufficient to prevent workplace accidents. Digital transformation has enabled the adoption of predictive analytics as a proactive strategy, utilizing historical data and machine learning algorithms to identify risks before incidents occur. This study aimed to systematically review the application of predictive analytics for the early detection of occupational accidents, mapping the methods, algorithms, and implementation outcomes across various industries. A scoping review was conducted following the PRISMA-ScR framework. Articles published between 2015 and 2025 were retrieved from IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, and PubMed. From 264 identified records, 9 relevant empirical studies were included in the final analysis. The review indicates that commonly applied algorithms, including Random Forest and Support Vector Machine, demonstrate high predictive performance in identifying accident risks, ergonomic hazards, and worker compliance, with accuracy levels reaching 90% or higher. The implementation of predictive analytics was associated with a reduction in workplace accidents of up to 25% and contributed to improved safety management through early warning systems. This systematic review underscores the significance of predictive analytics in transforming occupational safety and health management from a reactive to a proactive approach. The integration of big data, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence supports the development of data-driven systems for effective accident prevention and provides practical recommendations for researchers and occupational safety and health practitioners to adopt predictive models within sustainable prevention strategies. Keywords: predictive analytics; early detection; occupational accidents; machine learning

Abstract

Breast engorgement is a common condition among lactating mothers, characterized by breast fullness, tightness, and pain. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of green betel leaf compresses and cabbage leaf compresses in reducing breast pain associated with engorgement. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design with two groups was employed, involving 70 breastfeeding mothers who were randomly assigned to either the green betel leaf compress group (n = 35) or the cabbage leaf compress group (n = 35). The intervention was administered twice daily for three consecutive days, with each session lasting 15 minutes. Pain intensity was measured using the Visual Analog Scale before and after the intervention, and participant satisfaction was assessed using a structured questionnaire. The results demonstrated that the mean pain score in the green betel leaf compress group decreased from 5.66 to 0.49, whereas in the cabbage leaf compress group it decreased from 5.54 to 4.31. The Wilcoxon test indicated a statistically significant reduction in pain in both groups (p < 0.001), and the Mann–Whitney test revealed a significant difference in effectiveness between the two interventions (p < 0.001). The mean satisfaction score was higher in the green betel leaf compress group (90.69) compared with the cabbage leaf compress group (59.51). In conclusion, both compress types were effective in reducing breast engorgement pain; however, green betel leaf compresses demonstrated more consistent pain reduction and higher levels of participant satisfaction. Keywords: breast engorgement; green betel leaf compress; cabbage leaf compress; breast pain; breastfeeding mothers

Abstract

Sleep disturbances represent a common health problem among older adults due to physiological changes associated with aging, decreased melatonin production, and the presence of chronic diseases. Poor sleep quality has been associated with impaired cognitive function, weakened immune response, increased risk of falls, and reduced overall quality of life. Non-pharmacological interventions such as Brain Gym have been proposed as a potential strategy to improve sleep quality by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, enhancing cerebral blood flow, and regulating neurotransmitter activity. This study aimed to examine the effect of Brain Gym on sleep quality among older adults. A quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest–posttest control group approach was conducted. The sample consisted of 20 elderly participants selected through purposive sampling based on predetermined inclusion criteria. Brain Gym intervention was administered three times per week for four weeks, with each session lasting 30 minutes. Sleep quality was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test to determine differences in sleep quality before and after the intervention. Prior to the intervention, all respondents (100%) were categorized as having poor sleep quality. Following the intervention, eight respondents (80%) demonstrated good sleep quality, while two respondents (20%) remained in the poor category, although their PSQI scores showed improvement. The Wilcoxon test produced a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference in sleep quality before and after the intervention. Brain Gym was found to be effective in improving sleep quality among older adults, with an effectiveness rate of 80%. This intervention is simple to implement, safe, and has the potential to be integrated into gerontological nursing care as a non-pharmacological alternative to enhance the quality of life among the elderly. Keywords: brain gym; elderly; neurophysiology; sleep quality; insomnia

Abstract

Dental medical records are essential documents in dental healthcare services, as they contain comprehensive information regarding patients’ medical conditions and all treatments provided. Several studies indicate that dental clinics commonly use general outpatient forms rather than specific dental medical record forms. This study aimed to design a dental medical record form that can be implemented in healthcare services to achieve standardization in dental documentation. This study employed a literature review method, selecting 27 articles based on predefined inclusion criteria. In designing the dental medical record form, the researchers considered user needs identified in previous studies and developed the form in accordance with form design principles and the 2015 Dental Medical Record Guidelines. The results of this study present a dental medical record form design based on three aspects: physical, anatomical, and content aspects. The physical aspect includes paper material (80 gsm HVS paper), size (F4), shape (portrait-oriented rectangular format), and color (white paper with black ink). The anatomical aspect consists of components such as the heading (including title, form identification, date of issue, and issuance number), introduction, instructions, body, and closing section. The content aspect includes patient identity, odontogram, treatment table, and supporting attachments. This study suggests that the developed dental medical record form design may be considered for implementation in dental clinics at community health centers to enhance the completeness and standardization of patient medical record information. Keywords: form design; medical record; dental medical record
