Abstract

Stigma and discrimination remain significant obstacles in the management of HIV / AIDS prevention programs. The data shows there are stigma and discrimination within the health service, treatment is not going well. PLWHA tends to be ashamed and afraid to control or get medicine in the hospital, injustice to the provision of services, thus, low quality of care, and lack of respect for patients. The purpose of this study was to reduce the stigma and discrimination of HIV / AIDS patients in the community, through community empowerment programs. Long-term benefits were finding the right design to reduce stigma and discrimination toward HIV / AIDS patients, through community empowerment by integrating the concepts of social support, social networks, and social marketing. One group pretest-posttest design was used in this research. Seventy-five respondents were taken purposively. The intervention was "Optimizing Program of WPA's Role in reducing stigma and discrimination toward HIV AIDS patients in the community". The results showed that before and after the intervention, the average of community members did not have a negative attitude, did not perceived discrimination, and supported the equity. However, there were still hesitant and had a negative attitude within several community members to HIV / AIDS patient and the numbers decreased after the intervention. Based on the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, there were significant differences in negative attitudes, perceived discrimination, and support for equity before and after intervention with significance levels respectively p = 0.049, p = 0.006, and p = 0.000. Intensive coordination and evaluation of activities are needed to ensure the sustainability of the WPA Optimization program. Keywords: WPA optimization program; stigma; discrimination; HIV / AIDS

Abstract

Study habits and study skills of nursing licensure examination takers from 2015-2019 of the educational institution. The study aims to identify the study habits, and study skills carried out by board takers, ascertain the relationship between study habits and skills and determine the significant difference of study skills and study habits in nurse licensure examination. An online survey was done due to limited interactions brought by the pandemic. The respondents of the study are takers of nursing licensure examination from 2015 to 2019 who graduated at educational institution. Total population sampling technique is used, the study has a total of 97 respondents but due to the rising Covid 19 cases only 45 respondents are met. The study employed a descriptive correlational approach and quantitative research design to measure the relationships of study habits and study skills for nursing licensure examination. A Pearson correlation revealed that study skills and study habits of the respondents does not have significant relationship between study habits and study skills to nursing licensure examination. Hence, the study skills and study habits alone of the respondents does not ensure passing the Nursing Licensure Examination. Implications of the study in organization and the directions for the future research are also provided. Keywords: nursing licensure examination; examination result; study skills; study habits

Abstract

The success of improving the quality of human resources through education can be realized, one of which is through the accuracy of the learning process in achieving learning objectives, one of the government's efforts to improve the quality of education in Indonesia is to improve the curriculum from teacher centered learning to student centered learning by using the contextual method. teaching learning model problem based instructor. In essence, using this learning method where students can relate the content of the lesson to the surrounding environment or the real world so that it makes lessons more meaningful and can increase motivation to learn. The success of this method is strongly influenced by the structural stages contained in the PBI CTL model method. Measuring the ability of students with a pre-test in making Askep who got the PBI model of CTL learning, measuring the ability of students with the pre-test in making Askep who did not get the PBI model of CTL learning, measuring the ability of students with the post-test in making Askep who got the PBI CTL learning model, measuring the ability of students by post-test in making Askep who did not get the PBI model of CTL learning. Type of research is quantitative with a quasi experimental design (quasi-experimental), pre-test and post-test approaches with control group . The sample technique with a total sampling is 80 students DIII nursing study program Trenggalek. The instruments used were the nursing care format and the PBI model CTL module. The research results were tested by using paired sample t- test. The pre-test mean value of the ability to make nursing care in the intervention group was 72.45 and in the control group 68.03 while the average posttest score using the PBI model CTL method in the intervention group was 81.48 and in the control group 73.25. There is a significant effect of the PBI model of CTL method in improving the ability to make nursing care. Keywords: contextual teaching learning, problem based instructor, nursing care

Abstract

Knee osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease characterized by pain and limited motion of the joints resulting in muscle weakness. Late consequences can lead to limited motion and shortening of intra and extra joint components. This study aimed to analyze the effect of straight leg raise and static bicycles on the increase in quadriceps muscle strength in patients with knee osteoarthritis. This study was an experimental study with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The research was conducted at the Salewangan Maros Hospital. The population was knee joint osteoarthritis patients aged 40-60 years and experienced quadriceps muscle weakness. The sample met the inclusion criteria obtained by simple random sampling technique so that sample size was 28 subjects, then randomized into two treatment groups, each of 14 subjects. The research data was the strength of the quadriceps muscles using manual muscle testing which was done twice, namely before and after the straight leg raise exercise with a static bicycle. Because the data distribution were not normal, the nonparametric analysis was used. The results of the Wilcoxon test analysis showed that there was a significant effect of giving straight leg raise (p = 0.002) and static bicycles (p = 0.005) training on increasing quadriceps muscle strength. The results of the Mann-Whitney test showed no significant differences between groups on the increase in quadriceps muscle strength (p = 0.481). The results showed that straight leg raises and static bicycles increased muscle strength and there was no difference between the two exercises. Abstract

Trigeminal neuralgia is a condition that affects the trigeminal nerve, that manifests in a series of stabbing like pain, and often described like electricity. Its treatment guideline is to prioritize pharmacotherapy until patient is well. The gold standard treatment for trigeminal neuralgia is pharmacotherapy of Carbamazepine. However, carbamazepine is proven to cause allergic reaction to some patients. This research aims to describe the pharmacotherapy that is given to patients. The regiments of pharmacotherapy in trigeminal neuralgia shows that CBZ is the main pharmacotherapy given, as it is the gold standard treatment. GBP is the is the second most pharmacotherapy given and a concoction medication of Paracetamol, Diazepam and Amitriptyline being the third most favored therapy. Neurotropic B Vitamins plays a big role, as a support in the therapy to maintain the health of the overall nervous system. The pain scale data shows that almost all patients have significant pain relieve. The therapy of trigeminal neuralgia in this study shows that CBZ is most favored as it is the gold standard, however not all AEDs are accessible. Almost all patients have significant pain relieve eventhough not using gold standard treatment. Keywords: trigeminal neuralgia; pharmacotherapy
