Abstract

The objective of this research is to find: (1) implementation of project-based learning method in the advanced welding subject, (2) increased learning motivation by appling the project-based learning method, and (3) increased learning outcomes by appling the project-based learning method. This research uses classroom action research with three cycles, each cycle consists of four phases: planing, action, observe, and reflecting. Data were analyzed decriptively. The research results are as follows: (1) implementation of project-based learning method in the first cycle of 12.60 (65.00%) categorized as low, the second cycle of 15.92 (71.67%) categorized as high, and the third cycle of 16.77 (78.75%) categorized as very high, has increased by 3.32 (6.67%) from the first cycle to second cycle and by 0.85 (7.08%) from the second cycle to third cycle; (2) learning motivation in the first cycle of 12.60 categorized as high, the second cycle of 15.92 categorized as very high, and the third cycle of 16.77 categorized as very high, has increased by 3.32 from the first cycle to the second cycle and by 0.85 from the second cycle to third cycle; and (3) learning outcomes in the first cycle of 69.83 (B), the second cycle of 74.97 (B), and the third cycle of 84.85 (A-), has increased by 5.14 from the first cycle to the second cycle and by 9.88 of the second cycle to the third cycle.

Abstract

The aim of the researh was to describe the effectiveness of  industrial appreticeship program of mechanical engineering education students, the  Education and Teacher Training Faculty of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa Yogyakarta. The research was a qualitative approach research. To measure the effectiveness of the apprenticeship program the research used CIPP  (context, input, process, product) model introduced by Stuflebeam. The data of the research was collected by using interview and observation method, and completed by documentation. From the context side, the goal of the apprenticeship can fullfil the hope of industry to answer the lack of competencies of the vocational school teacher candidates, while from the input side, the the strategy implemented by the management in finding and selecting the industry by the students  can not assure the feasibility of the industry for apprenticeship.  From the process side, due to the budgetary, the gude lines as prescribed in the guide book are not fully implemented, the lecturers as the conselor can not perform as prescribe in the guide book. From the product side, in general the apprentisechip can be categorized as effective, the students doing their work mostly more than 256 hours as prescribed in the regulation. The subject of the apprenticeship focus are  the management and the skill relevance to the concentration of the students, the skill reletaed to the concentration can be categorized as effctice, but on the management side, the apprenticeship can be categorized as not effective. Ther is no one of the student learning the management of the company in the industry the students doing apprenticeship.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the development of assessment for learning tools on learning machining practices in VHS. This development research uses 3 stages: development, limited testing phase, and expanded testing stage. Research subjects were students and teachers of machining techniques VHS 2 Depok Sleman. Data collection using interviews, documentation, questionnaire questionnaires, field notes, observation sheets, product assessment sheets and student responses. Data analysis technique using descriptive analysis with rating method. The result of this research is assessment apparatus assessment apparatus developed successfully with characteristic of device consisted of process and product valuation device. Information on the results of the assessment is accurate information on student work process, product quality and overall result of practice assessment to know student achievement and as formative feedback with "good" rating level and can be applied at VHS majoring in machining technique.

Abstract

Principals as managers in schools, especially in vocational schools, face the challenge of changing the implementation of the 2013 curriculum. Preparedness is to recognize elements of change with open attitude, increase knowledge and skills in order to manage change so that schools become adaptive to change. This fundamental change in the 2013 curriculum is known as the element of change, which includes the Graduate Competency Standards, Content Standards, Process Standards and Assessment Standards. As the leader of change, the headmaster of SMK has a concern for the improvement of his "followers" performance and develops his potential followers to reach the highest potential. For that the headmaster of SMK in leading the change must have the characteristics: can be an example, inspiring, stimulating to creative, and pay attention to individual needs of its followers. Through its role as a change leader, the headmaster of SMK gradually builds awareness of urgency to change, mobilizes TPS, develops vision and strategies that reflect the implementation of the 2013 curriculum, communicates the vision continuously, empowers the citizens of schools for the implementation of the 2013 curriculum, generates short-term success, consolidate, and develop a school culture that supports the implementation of the 2013 curriculum.

Abstract

The aims of this study is to produce a brake system learning multimedia that feasible for education. This study is Research and Development with Four-D model. The subject of this study is students 10th grade of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Imogiri which consist of 25 students. There are three phases of validation: Validation of Media Expert, Validation Material Expert, and Validation User. Validation of media expert showing that brake system learning multimedia is very feasible for education with value percentage 88,57%. Validation of material expert showing that brake system learning multimedia is very feasible for education with value percentage 94,17%. Validation user showing that brake system learning multimedia based on flash is feasible with value percentage 76,44%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to formulate the model of the planning of the Organizer School of industry standard class. This type of research uses a qualitative approach with the location in SMK PIRI 1 Yogyakarta on the package of Light Vehicle Engineering expertise. Data collection techniques used interviews, observations, and documentary observations. Testing of data validity is done by triangulation of data, auditing, and review of an informant. The technique of analysis through data reduction phase, data presentation, conclusion. The results of the research indicate that the School Planning of industry standard class organizers involves partner industry in synchronizing the industry curriculum with the curriculum of the government into implementation curriculum, student selection, preparation of facilities and infrastructure, teacher competence and teaching materials. Industrial standard class planning is done through the selection phase of students in the third semester, the second phase of the industry-standard teaching and learning process in the third semester until semester VI, the third stage through competency test in the 6th semester.

Abstract

The challenges facing vocational education in the 21st century are increasingly complex. The demands of work in the global era require a creative, innovative, initiative, leadership, independent, able to work in a team, literacy skills, effective communication skills, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurship skills. This study aims to describe the praxis of vocational learning strategies of field agribusiness in 21st century. Some praxis of  learning strategies that are relevant to the field of agribusiness, namely 1) entrepreneurial approach, 2) industrial work practices, 3) teaching factory, 4) project work, 5) Problem-Based Learning, 6) Discovery Learning 7) Inquiry Learning, 8) Contextual Learning, 9) Jigsaw Learning.

Abstract

In the strategic plan of the Ministry of Education and Culture 2015-2019, The Ministry was targeted more than 1000 SMK to develop Learning/Teaching Factory (TEFA). In other hand, according to Government rule, vocational education should have in cooperation with Professional Certification Institute (LSP), develop teaching factory (TEFA), and build competency test Center (TUK). Base on both, this paper will focus how to develop teaching factory using business model canvas in fashion design vocational high school.

Abstract

This research aims to know the application of e-learning for students’s SMK in Kabupaten Bantul. The research used the qualitative case study approach. This research took place at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Imogiri Bantul. The informants in this research were expert technician of IT, lecuture of IT/IS, teachers in SMK, and studets in SMK.. The data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The technical analysis of the data refered to the analysis of Miles & Huberman interactive model, including data collection, data condensation, data display, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The result shows that: (1) Students's competence can be improved through the help of e-learning. The e-learning features can be used by students to learn independently or collaboratively; (2) Characteristics and different functions in Edmodo and Moodle make teachers can choose one or even both as a medium of online learning to support adaptive learning students's SMK.

Abstract

This research aims to get an overview of: metal machine training curriculum; metal machine trainee qualification; the qualifications of trainers (educator) metal machine; metal machine skills practice facilities; the process of metal machine skills training; and competences achieved by the trainee machine metal. The methods used to collect data in this study are: (1) an interview with head of BLK metal machines and instructors to get the data of the curriculum, metal machine practice worksheets, learning methods, evaluation tools; (2) the observation data to get the process of education and training; (3) documentation to get the data infrastructure workshop machinery metal. To keep the validity of qualitative data in this study, performed the triangulation techniques. Input in training consists of instructors; participants of the training; training materials; training tools in the form of the machine with his supporters, machinery and equipment, the infrastructure of the training and Training curriculum-oriented metal machine KKNI. The process of metal machine includes two training activities. Proponents of the theory of practice activities carried out in the room of the theory and practice of the activities carried out in the workshop. Evaluation of products in the study found that the competence achieved are: 50% of the participants achieved 8 competencies; 25% of the participants achieved the 7 competencies; 18.75% of participants achieving 6 competencies; and 6.25% of the participants achieved competency 5 of 8 competencies to be achieved by the participants of the training at the end of training.
