Abstract

The purposes of this research are to: (1) describethe achievement in learning mathematics of the students taught using the CTL method and Open -Ended method, (2) compare the achievement in learning mathematics of the students taught using the CTL method and Open-Ended method,(3) compare the effect of student’ mathematics learning styles on their achievement, (4) describe the interaction of teaching methods and the students’ mathematics learning styles on their achievement. This research used a quasi-experimental research design using two experimental groups, they are group of CTL and group of Open-Ended. The instrument using for collect data are test for collect the mathematics achievement data and questionnaire for collect the mathematics learning styles data. The analysis of the data used the multivariate analysis with a two-way analysis of variance with unequal cells, and the post-hoc test involving the Bonferroni procedure. The results of the research are as follows:(1)the achievement in learning mathematics of the students taught usingboth of the CTL and Open-Ended method are well, (2) the achievement in learning mathematics of the students taught using the CTL method are better than Open-Ended, (3) there is an effect of learning style on their achievement, with visual learning styles is better than auditorial learning styles, (4) there is no interaction of teaching method and students’ mathematics learning styles on their achievement in mathematics in the material on opportunities. Keywords: CTL, Open-Ended, learning styles, achievement

Abstract

Tracer Study is important to be done, with the implementation of tracer studies will be obtained feedback can reveal useful information for Physical Education and Study programs can then be used for the improvement and quality assurance for internal and external quality assurance. This study aims to determine 1) Profile Physical education graduate study program, 2) Suitability Education Graduates by type of work, 3) to determine the input graduates for the development of Physics Education Study Program This research is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. This study took a random sample. Data collection was done by using questionnaires and documentation. Analysis of data using statistical descriptive analysis in the form of tabulation and visualization in the form of pictures and graphics. The results showed that the profile of a graduate program of study Physical Education variegated, amounting to 92% consistently worked as a science teacher at the junior high and high school physics teacher. By 75% the salaries of graduates of Physics Education> 1 million. This means public recognition of the Physical Education graduates is quite high. Conformance level of education obtained by the type of work, the graduates who worked as a teacher of Physics at the equivalent of high school, 85% support the work, for a science teacher for 60% support for the work and other work only 30% support the work. The waiting period physical education graduate study program is as much as 96% get a job <6 months. Put alumni to study Physical Education Program is room for improvement in the field of infrastructure, soft skills, learning and quality of lecturers. Keywords: Tracer study, graduates, physics

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran tentang persepsi mahasiswa, perilaku mahasiswa, dan pengaruh persepsi terhadap perilaku makan pagi. Persepsi mahasiswa terhadap perilaku makan pagi merupakan pandangan atau pengamatan seseorang /mahasiswa terhadap suatu obyek  yaitu makan pagi. Makan pagi atau sarapan merupakan kegiatan yang dilakukan seseorang di pagi hari sebelum melakukan kegiatan /aktivitas. Hipotesis yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini adalah ada pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara Persepsi mahasiswa terhadap perilaku makan pagi . Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif . Populasi penelitian ini  adalah seluruh mahasiswa Prodi  PKK, JPTK, FKIP, UST yang berjumlah 282 responden. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian sampel, karena tidak meneliti seluruh populasi, besar sampel dihitung dengan menggunakan rumus sloven yaitu 165 responden. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode angket . Angket sebelum digunakan diuji validitasnya menggunakan uji korelasi Product Moment  dan uji reliabilitas menggunakan rumus Alpha Cronbach. Sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif  dan analisis korelasi Product Moment didahului dengan uji persyaratan analisis yaitu uji normalitas dan uji linieritas. Hasil analisis diskriptif menunjukkan bahwa  persepsi mahasiswa pada kategori cukup (55,8%), perilaku makan pagi  pada kategori cukup (67,9 %). Hasil analisis korelasi Product Moment, diperoleh r hitung = 0,297  . Nilai r table  pada taraf signifikan 5% untuk N=165 adalah 0,148 ( r xy 0,297 > r table  0,148 ). Dapat diinterpretasikan bahwa ada pengaruh positif dan signifikan variable persepsi mahasiswa terhadap perilaku makan pagi. Nilai tersebut didukung dengan harga koefisien determinan sebesar 0,88, artinya besarnya sumbangan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap perilaku makan pagi sebesar 88,0%  sedangkan sisanya 12,0 %  dipengaruhi oleh factor lain, seperti keadaan ekonomi, lingkungan keluarga, kesempatan dan sebagainya. Kata kunci : persepsi mahasiswa, perilaku makan

Abstract

This study aims to measure the efficiency level of Management Departement of UST’s Economic Faculty, as measured by the students studiesachievement and compare it to the human resources input. Input variables in this study are: Numbers of Lecturer, Lecturer’s DoctoraldegreeRatio, Numbers of Academics officers and Academics officers Bachelors degree ratio. The Output variables are: The average GPA and the average of Graduation Time. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) used to analyze the data for 2011-2013 period. In general, efficiency level arefluctuated. Based on input oriented efficiency method, 100 percent efficiency was achieved in 2011 and 2013, and the inefficiency of 93.86 percent in 2012. Input that provided the largest contribution to the level of efficiency is Lecturer’s Doctoral degree Ratio. While the output that provided the largest contribution to the level of efficiency variations in 2012 is the average GPA of graduates and in 2013 was the average of Graduation Time.  Keyword : DEA, Efficiency, Departement

Abstract

This objective of the research was to examine whether or not the operations strategy mediate a relationship between business environment and operational performance. The research collected a sample of SMEs located in Kasongan Bantul Yogyakarta. The sampling was conducted by applying a non-probability method with a purposive sampling technique. The questionnaires processed were 70 in number, which were obtained from direct survey. The data collected were then analyzed by using a path analysis technique. The result of the research not proved that the operations strategy mediated a relationship between business environment and operational performance, but the business environment directly influence the operational performance. Key words: business environment, operations strategy, operational performance

Abstract

Educational unemployment is a big issue in Indonesia. Unemployment in 2014 is 5.94% and surprisingly among them around 41.8% is educated. The distribution of educated unemployment are higher education graduates 12.78%, high school graduates 11.9%, vocational high school graduates 11.87%, junior high school graduates 7.45%, and elementary school graduates 3.81%. This fact was well known and considered by education institution and government. There were a lot of initiatives already taken such as link-and-match concept during Soeharto era, competency based curriculum and recently is national qualification framework standard (SKKNI). Those initiatives aimed to narrow down the gap between industry and education sector. However the result of those initiatives is still limited. This paper argue that we should follow the India example on how to train the nearly graduate to prepare entering working environment. Based on the evidence in the field, the difficulty of graduates to enter the working environment is not only because lack of technical skills, but more because of lack of soft skills. This paper suggests a model of using experiential learning and placement center to enhance the ability of graduate to adapt into working environment. Keywords : Accounting Education, Experential Learning, Placement Center, Graduate Employability, Educational Unemployment

Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) to describe the most frequently employed revision strategies used by university students in their research proposals, and (2) to describe the problems they face in revising their research proposals. This considers the revision strategies as part of the research proposals writing by examining how a focus on deletion, substitution, addition and reordering affects the revising processes ofwritten products. The method used in this study was a qualitative research fundamentally involved an in-depth interpretation of data. Four university students at PBI UST academic year of 2015/2016 involved in this study used different revision strategies: (a) revising by deletion, (b) revising by substitution, (c) revising by addition and (d) revising by reordering. An open ended interview technique was used to get information on problems the participants faced during writing and revising their research proposals. The processes of data analysis technique were (1) establish units of analysis of revision strategies, indicating how these units are similar to and different from each other, (2) match the responses given in interviews to written documents, (3) create a domain analysis, and (4) establish relationships and linkages between the domains (Manion & Morrison, 2000). The findings show that participants revised their research proposals by using a deletion strategy through which they focus on removing certain parts of the proposals being produced. Another revision strategy is substitution in which participants organize replacements of inappropriate parts of the proposals. The revision strategy called addition is used to refer to certain missing parts of proposals. The simultaneous use of reordering is also of paramount importance to mark the revised source materials in the writing activities. Emergent revision strategies were coined byparticipants namely revision by consultation, revision by rereading and reanalyzing, and revision by reviewing. Participants faced grammatical errors (grammatical difficulties), lack of vocabulary, incorrect use of dictions and sentences (a word-level and a sentence-level of difficulties) in the process of writing their research proposals.Keywords: revision strategies, deletion, substitution, addition, reordering

Abstract

Dewasa ini orang- orang hanya membicarakan masalah kekinian saja serta melupakan segala persoalan masa lampau. Sebagian orang ketika bertemu hanya membicarakan masalah yang berkaitan dengan suatu persoalan yang sulit dicerna dan tidak dapat diketahui titik temu dari persoalan itu, seperti hanya membicarakan masalah pesta demokrasi, pemilihan kepala daerah, pemilihan presiden bahkan legislatif. Persoalan masa lampau banyak yang mereka lupakan dan hanya digunakan sebagai barang antik yang tidak ada manfaatnya. Hal ini sebenarnya mengandung suatu dampak yang negatif. Banyak persoalan itu yang harus diselesaikan dengan memanfaatkan sejarah lokal. Hanya saja tergantung bagaimana mengemasnya dengan baik. Sejarah lokal memiliki potensi penting karena hanya dengan sejarahlah kepribadian daerah dapat ditemukan. Oleh karena itu betapa pentingnya penulisan sejarah daerah dalam rangka ikut memberikan sumbangan untuk memecahkan persoalan yang sedang dihadapi oleh daerah. Luaran hasil penelitian ini diharapkan (1) menjadi artikel ilmiah yang dimuat dalam jurnal yang ber ISSN, (2) Publikasi hasil penelitian melalui seminar nasional yang diikuti oleh berbagai dosen dan mahasiswa pada perguruan tinggi, (3) Menjadi sebuah acuan untuk penyusunan materi sejarah lokal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penyusunan karya ilmiah ini adalah metode penelitian sejarah, dengan cara merekonstruksi masa lampau melalui proses pengujian dan analisis secara kritis terhadap rekaman dan peninggalan masa lampau. Secara garis besar penelitian sejarah terbagi menjadi empat tahapan yaitu, heuristik, kritik, interpretasi dan historiografi. Kata Kunci: Penulisan, Sejarah, Lokal

Abstract

Mobilitas di era globalisasi saat ini sudah semakin tinggi. Individu bepergian dari satu tempat ke tempat lain sudah bukan lagi hal yang aneh. Ada berbagai alasan individu bepergian, mulai dari bekerja, mengungsi, berwisata ataupun menempuh pendidikan. Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP), salah satu perguruan tinggi yang terletak di wilayah Banyumas yang secara umum mahasiswa di UMP dapat dikategorikan menjadi tiga yaitu mahaiswa dari Jawa, luar Jawa dan mahasiswa asing. Para mahasiswa dihadapkan dengan kondisi sosial dan budaya yang baru, kondisi yang berbeda dengan daerah asal mereka yang dari luar Jawa terlebih dari luar negeri. Penelitian ini akan meneliti dan menganalisis hambatan seperti apa yang dihadapi para mahasiswa serta strategi apa yang mereka lakukan untuk bisa berdaptasi dengan kondisi yang ada di UMP. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian mahasiswa dari luar jawa dan mahasiswa asing UMP. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hambatan yang dialami para informan yaitu 1) kurangnya informasi awal mengenai UMP; 2) Perbedaan makanan, 3) Homesick (merindukan kampung halaman), 4) Perbedaan Agama dan Bahasa. Strategi adaptasi yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa asing dan luar Jawa di UMP adalah: 1) Akomodasi bahasa, makanan dan agama; 2) Melakukan hobi yang disukai; dan 3) Menghubungi keluarga.Keyword : strategi adaptasi, sosial budaya

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pelaksanaan pembelajaran Mata Kuliah praktikum di Prodi Pendidikan IPA UST. Dalam pelaksanaan perkuliahan banyak faktor yang menjadi penentu kualitas pembelajaran, diantaranya fasilitas laboratorium, sistem pengelolaan laboratorium, perangkat pembelajaran, kesiapan dosen dalam mengajar, kesiapan mahasiswa dalam mengikuti perkuliahan. Pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran praktikum di prodi pendidikan IPA sejauh ini sudah berjalan, hal ini berdasarkan dari observasi awal berupa catatan hasil interview dari dosen pengampu mata kuliah dan mahasiswa. Selain itu juga didapatkan data awal, diantaranya kurikulum prodi pendidikan IPA, jadwal praktikum, presensi kuliah, buku petunjuk praktikum. Mata kuliah yang dipraktikumkan di prodi IPA UST berjumlah 10 mata kuliah dengan bobot 3 sks. Semua matakuliah wajib ditempuh oleh mahasiswa. Meskipun sejauh ini perkuliahan praktikum sudah berjalan akan tetapi banyak kendala yang ditemui pada pelaksanaan pembelajaran praktikum ini, sehingga diperlukan banyak perbaikan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran. Dengan mengoptimalisasi perkuliahan praktikum dengan menitikberatkan pada perbaikan sistem kelola laboratorium, penjadwalan praktikum, perangkat pembelajaran praktikum (buku petunjuk praktikum, Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM)), sistem penilaian dan sarana penunjang lain (koleksi alat/bahan laboratorium) diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran praktikum untuk mendukung kompetensi calon guru IPA SMP di prodi pendidikan IPA UST. Kata kunci : praktikum IPA, laboratorium
