Abstract

The conversion of agricultural land at a high enough rate may threaten the food security of the population. The agricultural land most vulnerable to conversion is the rice field. The aim of this study was to determine the changes in paddy fields from 2013 to 2020, the distribution of the transformation of paddy fields to other lands, and the factors that influence the conversion of paddy fields. This research was carried out by digitizing the on-screen image method in 2013 and 2020. The classification of land use results from digitization was tested for accuracy by determining the sample points in the GIS (Geographic Information System) application and then compared to the results of the field survey. In addition, an analysis of the changes in paddy fields was carried out by overlaying land use maps in 2013 and 2020. Observations and interviews with people whose land was changing were conducted on the factors affecting the change in paddy fields. Changes in land use over a period of 7 years (2013-2020), namely rice fields, decreased by 149 ha (7.36 percent ). Meanwhile, there has been an increase in the area in other land uses. The function of the paddy fields in the urban area of Pangkajene, Sidrap Regency, has become 18.69 hectares of land built, 59.42 hectares of mixed gardens, 23.13 hectares of open/empty land and 49.11 hectares of land. The factor that affects the conversion of paddy fields in the urban area of Pangkajene is the strategic location of the land, which causes the community to convert its land into a place of trade and services. The increase in the number of people requiring large land areas has led to the construction of many residential complexes in rice fields and the high selling price of rice fields, which encourages farmers to sell their land.

Abstract

Ruminant livestock development is largely determined by the carrying capacity of feed sources because the availability of quality feed is a major factor of success. The quality of natural grass that has been relied on so far must be improved by utilizing superior grass which produces better biomass and nutrients. Mulato grass (Brachiaria hybrid cv. Mulato) is one of the superior grasses that has not been widely cultivated in South Sulawesi. This study aims to look at the growth of mulato grass fertilized with different types of manure. The research design applied was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments of giving fertilizers and 3 consecutive repetitions consisting of no treatment, administration of goat feces, treatment of cow feces, and treatment of layer chicken feces. The variables observed were plant height, plant length, number of tillers, and number of leaves which were carried out every week after being uniform. The results showed that the use of cow feces gave the best results on all variables measured in details of the best plant height 44.2 cm, plant length 68.3 cm, 70 pieces, and 11.3 tillers.

Abstract

Pangium edule or keluwak is a local spice that can extend the shelf life of livestock products because it contains antimicrobial compounds. This study aimed to determine the effect of marination using Pangium edule on the microbiological and organoleptic quality of lamb. This study used a factorial completely randomized design to treat Pangium edule concentration and shelf life of 3 replications each. Lamb meat was marinated using Pangium edule extract 0%, 3%, 6%, and 9%, then stored at 12 hours, 24 hours, and 36 hours at room temperature. The results showed that the longer the meat's shelf life, the microbial growth also increased, but marination using Pangium edule resulted in lower microbial growth than without treatment. The treatment of lamb marination with 3% and 6% Pangium edule extract showed the lowest microbes and was very significantly different from lamb without treatment for 36 hours. Its means that the antibacterial compound in Pangium edule can inhibit microbial growth and is still by the standards set by SNI compared to the control. Marination using Pangium edule extract during the shelf life also significantly affected the panelists' acceptance level, namely aroma, taste, tenderness, and color. Organoleptic scores, namely smell, taste, tenderness, and color at 6% to 9% with a shelf life of 36 hours, are still in a fairly good range. Marination using Pangium edule 6% can maintain the microbiological and organoleptic lamb quality for 36 hours.

Abstract

This research aims to study the effect of using organic fertilizers on the growth and yield of soybeans. Besides, to study the selection of the best types of organic fertilizers to increase the soil's ability to absorb water so that it can increase yield even in drought conditions. The research was carried out in the Faculty of Agriculture screen house, Indonesian Muslim University, Makassar, with the type of alfisol soil. The design used as factorial based on a randomized block design, which consisted of 2 factors. The first factor is the use of organic fertilizers, namely without organic fertilizers (P0), chicken manure (P1), Azolla compost (P2), and bokashi waste (P3). The second factor is the quantity of water supply, namely 350 mm/season (Al), 450 mm/season (A2), and 550 mm/season (A3). The results showed an interaction between the type of organic fertilizer and the amount of water supply on the total dry weight of the plant at harvest, the number of seeds, and the percentage of seed success. The enormous total dry weight of plants and the largest number of sources occurred in the combination of giving chicken manure and a water supply of 550 mm/season. Meanwhile, the highest percentage of seeds was in the variety of Azolla fertilizer treatment and water supply of 350 mm/season. The water supply treatment also significantly affects plant height, the number of leaves, and plants' total dry weight. Simultaneously, the yield components, namely the dry weight of seeds and the weight of 100 seeds with a water supply of 550 mm/season produced the best results.

Abstract

Traditional fishers play an essential role in Indonesia's fishing business because most fishers are small-scale fishermen who are commonly referred to as conventional fishermen. This study's aim was to determine the factors that affect the income of traditional fishers in Bone Regency. The data used were cross-section data of 30 traditional fishermen in Tanete Riattang Timur and Sibulue Districts, Bone regencies. Data were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the variable price, amount of catch, and experience in fishing had a positive and significant effect on increasing fishermen's income in Bone Regency. Meanwhile, the variables of capital, number of workers, level of education, and number of dependents had no significant effect on fishermen's opinion. So the stability of fish prices during the fishing season needs attention from the government to increase fishermen's income.

Abstract

Quality control is needed by the company to improve the quality of the products produced so that they are by the company's standards and by consumer desires. Maintaining the quality of the products made is also necessary to reduce the company's quality assurance costs. The research objective was to analyze the quality control of the products produced and identify the factors that damage the products produced by the Ayu Tangkas Women Farmers Group (WFG). The method used in this research is the Statistical Process Control (SPC) method with analysis using the p-control chart and the Fishbone Diagram. The population in the study were all products produced by WFG Ayu Tangkas in December 2019. The results showed that the quality of snacks made by WFG Ayu Tangkas, as many as 4280 pieces, were under control. This can be seen from the 28 points between the Lower Control Limit (LCL) and Upper Control Limit (UCL). There are only two points that are above the UCL control limit. The factor that causes deterioration in Ayu Tangkas WFG snacks' quality is that the ingredients are not measured with certainty using only the snack maker considerations. Besides, they do not use manufacturing machines, so that the sizes are often not the same because there is no definite SOP for the manufacturing process. There is no promotion so that snacks are made still at a constant volume and the use of firewood in the manufacture so that the heat generated is unstable, causing the snacks to burn and break frequently.

Abstract

Gapoktan Tani Makmur is an association of farmer groups in Kartoharjo Village. The main product of Gapoktan is semi-organic fertilizer, namely organic NPK super granule with the trademark was ASLI (Alami Subur Lestari Indonesia). The problem faced is that Gapoktan is very dependent on factory microbes that were no longer produced in Purbalingga. There are many potential sources of beneficial local microorganisms, one of which comes from banana weevils. The purpose of this study was to describe the level of adoption and to analyze the factors that influence the adoption rate as the basis for the design of education about the manufacture of banana weevil MOL in Gapoktan Tani Makmur. Also, to determine the implementation, evaluate education based on the level of adoption and the factors that influence it. The method used is a quantitative approach with a survey method for data collection. The sampling technique uses random cluster sampling. The results showed that the measurement of the adoption rate before counseling was in the very high category of 82.9%, with the regression line equation Y = -2.695 + 0.124X1 - 0.558X2 + 2.182X3 + 1.958X4, with a determination coefficient of 0.829 or 82.9% . It means that the variable age (X1), an education level (X2), attitude towards change (X2), and courage at risk (X2) simultaneously affect the innovation adoption variable (Y) by 82.9%. Simultaneously, the rest is influenced by other variables or variables not studied. The extension's design follows the measurement of adoption rate and its influencing factors. The extension material includes the meaning, benefits, advantages, and MOL content of banana weevils for super organic NPK fertilizer. Real-life media outreach, PPT slides, and leaflets with adjuncts, lectures, and demonstrations. Evaluation of the extension design application, namely, evaluating the adoption rate of 38 target people with a very high category of 86.4%.
