Abstract

The escalation of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, particularly carbon dioxide (CO₂), has become a critical global climate change issue with significant implications for Indonesia. This study quantifies CO₂ emissions from household activities in Aur Kenali, Jambi City, covering electricity consumption, LPG usage, transportation, and waste management. Using a descriptive quantitative approach with 100 respondents, the data were analyzed based on the 2006 IPCC guidelines. The results reveal a total emission of 47.02 tons CO₂-eq from the sampled households. The primary contributor is electricity consumption at 23.14 tons CO₂-eq (49.21%), followed by transportation at 15.39 tons CO₂-eq (32.73%), waste management at 5.35 tons CO₂-eq (11.38%), and LPG usage at 3.14 tons CO₂-eq (6.68%). These findings indicate that electricity usage is the dominant emission source in the study area, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced environmental education to foster more sustainable community behavioral changes.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting among the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) in Nyogan Village, Muaro Jambi, reached 42.2%, far exceeding the district average. Ecosystem changes due to forest conversion forced the SAD to shift from nomadic to settled lifestyles, impacting household food availability. This study explored food availability in families of SAD toddlers at risk of stunting. This qualitative study, using an ethnographic design, was conducted from May–December 2023. Data were collected from 20 informants through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), observation, and anthropometry. Data analysis was conducted thematically using the Onion Diagram and Food Consumption Score (FCS) approaches. The stunted SAD toddlers came from households with "threshold" food availability (FCS score 35). Although cereal consumption was met, intake of animal protein, vegetables, and fruit was very low. Food availability was highly dependent on river fish caught, which were sold to buy market groceries, but low purchasing power limited access to a balanced, nutritious diet. Low household food availability is a major determinant of stunting in SAD. Nutrition education regarding affordable local foods and support for more stable food access for this marginalized community are needed.

Abstract

Indonesia is committed to supporting national strategic programs, one of which is food self-sufficiency. Therefore, to achieve optimal irrigation during the dry season, planning for reservoir construction is necessary. One crucial analytical activity in reservoir planning is hydrological analysis. This analysis determines the structural design requirements and the extent of the reservoir's irrigation benefits, provided sufficient data is available. Unfortunately, rainfall data from observation posts is sometimes incomplete, necessitating the use of satellite rainfall data. This study aims to analyze the potential use of Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) satellite rainfall data as a primary source of hydrological analysis for reservoir planning, particularly in determining the design flood discharge for the return period. The limited availability of observed rainfall data in Indonesia is a major obstacle in the water structure planning process, particularly in rural areas and upstream river basins (DAS).

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of different PWM values on speed, current, power, and energy consumption of the wheelchair under various loads. The system was developed using an Arduino Uno as the main controller, a joystick for direction and speed control, an ultrasonic sensor to detect obstacles, and DC motors as the actuators. Tests were conducted with load variations ranging from 40 kg to 80 kg and PWM values from 40 to 120. The test results show that as the PWM value increases, the wheelchair’s speed also increases, but energy consumption rises accordingly. However, within the PWM range of 80 to 100, the system operates most efficiently since energy consumption does not increase significantly compared to the gain in speed. Based on these findings, the PWM-based electric wheelchair control system is considered effective, efficient, and stable under varying load conditions, making it a promising approach for the design of energy-efficient automatic wheelchairs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on the use of Mobile Fintech at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) by applying the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A mixed-method approach was employed, combining descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. Primary data were obtained from questionnaires distributed to 99 respondents selected through accidental sampling, while secondary data were derived from literature and prior studies. Data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, multiple regression, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²). The results show that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have significant positive effects on the use of Mobile Fintech both individually and simultaneously, with a contribution of 77.9% to fintech adoption. These findings are consistent with previous international studies that highlight the importance of ease of use, usefulness, trust, and Shariah compliance in driving Islamic fintech adoption. This study concludes that strengthening user-friendly features, improving system reliability, and ensuring compliance with Islamic principles are essential strategies to enhance the adoption of Mobile Fintech in Islamic banking. This research also contributes theoretically by expanding the application of TAM in the context of Islamic banking, where Shariah compliance and customer trust play a crucial moderating role. The originality of this study lies in combining quantitative findings with contextual challenges in rural Indonesia, which are rarely highlighted in previous research. Furthermore, the practical contribution is to provide a guideline for Islamic banks in formulating digital strategies that align with customer needs, government financial inclusion programs, and technological trends.

Abstract

Providing teacher bonus pay based on data on excess teaching hours is a form of recognition that can boost teacher morale and performance. However, the process of determining teacher bonus pay at SMK Ikhlas Jawilan is still manual, potentially leading to inefficiency, a lack of objectivity, and the risk of errors in calculations and decision-making. This situation highlights the need for a system that can assist the school in determining teacher bonus pay in a more systematic and measurable manner. This study aims to design and implement a web-based Decision Support System (DSS) for determining teacher bonus pay using the Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound (SMART) method. The criteria used in this study include excess teaching hours (inval), the teacher's role as a school organizational leader, and additional duties as laboratory manager, each of which has varying levels of importance. The process of implementing the SMART method in the system begins with determining criteria and weighting. The developed system is web-based, facilitating data management, increasing accessibility, and supporting transparency in the assessment process. The results of the system implementation indicate that the use of a web-based Decision Support System using the SMART method can assist the school in making decisions more objectively, accurately, and efficiently. Furthermore, this system can minimize subjectivity and increase fairness in determining teacher salary bonuses.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the quality of shallow groundwater based on iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) parameters, as well as analyze the spatial distribution pattern of pollutants in the area around PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Jambi Merang's petroleum drilling activities. Sampling was carried out at eight points of dug wells, including one company-owned monitoring well, three wells located within a radius of ±2 km the drilling site, and four wells located in community residential areas up to a radius of ±9 km. Water quality analysis is carried out through laboratory testing with reference to water quality standards for hygiene and sanitation purposes in accordance with the Minister of Health Regulation Number 2 of 2023. Furthermore, spatial distribution modeling was carried out using the Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) and Krigging interpolation methods. The results showed that at some observation points, the concentrations of iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) were detected to exceed the set quality standard values, with a tendency to higher concentrations in wells located closer to the drilling area. The spatial distribution pattern indicates a decrease in metal concentrations as the distance from the source of the pollutant increases. These findings emphasize the importance of regular groundwater quality monitoring and the implementation of sustainable environmental management to protect the availability of water sources for the community.

Abstract

This systematic literature review synthesizes morphological, ecological, and evolutionary information to understand variation in sexual dimorphism in Draco. The literature indicates that males generally possess conspicuous marking structures such as brightly colored neck skin folds and more differentiated patagia that function in territorial defense and mate attraction. In contrast, females often exhibit proportionally larger body size and patagia area, reflecting natural selection pressures related to reproductive costs and the need to maintain gliding performance while carrying eggs. Patterns of sexual dimorphism in Draco vary widely across species and regions, influenced by local environmental conditions, habitat noise levels, and interspecific competition.

Abstract

The quality of human resources (HR) is a fundamental element in determining a country's competitiveness. Although Indonesia has significant demographic potential, various indicators such as the Human Capital Index, Human Development Index, and productivity levels indicate that the quality of Indonesia's HR lags behind that of developed countries and several ASEAN countries. This study examines the factors contributing to the low quality of Indonesia's HR based on a descriptive qualitative analysis of recent literature. This study covers aspects of education, health and nutrition, digital transformation, labor productivity, the innovation ecosystem, and socio-economic factors and work culture. This study confirms that Indonesia's current HR challenges are multidimensional and interconnected, requiring comprehensive, long-term, and integrated policy interventions between the government, the business world, and society.
