Abstract

Maternal mortality in Indonesia is still relatively high compared to neighboring countries in ASEAN, Indonesia's position globally or regionally is the second highest MMR after Laos. Maternal death (direct obstetric death) is a direct death as a result of obstetric complications in pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium. There were some contradictive researches about obstetric and maternal death.  Some studies related, and other did not. The objective of this study was to analyze some articles that discuss the relationship of obstetric complications toward the case of maternal mortality in Indonesia In this study, an analysis of articles regarding the relationship of obstetric complications to the incidence of maternal death in Indonesia was conducted using the meta-analysis method. Obtained 11 full (full text) research articles published online in 2015-2020, searched using the Google Scholar database, PubMed. Odds Ratio is calculated by table summary of results-model-fixed-effect, using Meta-Analysis Calculator Website Meta-mar program (Free online Meta-Analysis Service). A total of 11 articles were included in the meta-analysis showing the results of maternal deaths caused by obstetric complications OR = 3,14 (95% CI 2,354-,.199). It can be concluded that obstetric complications have a 3,14 times greater risk of maternal death.

Abstract

Smoking-induced respiratory epithelium changes, driven by nicotine and smoke components, can lead to severe lung alterations with prolonged exposure. However, until now, no one has examined the histopathological appearance of bronchioles and alveoli in Wistar rats following exposure to cigarette smoke. This study aimed to assessed lung histopathological changes in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) exposed to cigarette smoke. A descriptive study used a post-test group control design, exposing Rattus norvegicus to cigarette smoke and dividing them into control, 1-week, 2-week, and 4-week groups. Histopathological findings revealed that the control group had intact bronchioles; the one-week group showed lymphocyte infiltration and typical alveolar structure; the two-week group had increased respiratory epithelial cells; the four-week group displayed dominant bronchiole changes; the one-week group had varying alveolar septal thickness; the two-week group had narrowed alveolar lumens; four-week group showed thickened septa and pronounced pigmented macrophages. Cigarette smoke exposure affects changes to Rattus norvegicus lung histology. Prolonged exposure to cigarette smoke induces damage to the structure of the bronchioles and alveoli.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the factors that influence the mother's behavior towards basic immunization. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach. Sample size using the Slovin formula as much as 93 people. Data analysis in this study using univariate and bivariate with the Chi-square test. Based on the results of this study, there was an influence between income on the mother's behavior toward complete basic immunization because of the p-value <0.05 (0.038). Variabel of education, mother's occupation, father's occupation, number of children, knowledge, and attitude did not affect the completeness of basic immunization in infants because of the p-value >0.05. Income factors are very closely related to health such as immunization in infants. An adequate family income will support the growth and development of children, so parents can provide for all the children's needs, both primary and secondary.

Abstract

The Department of Marine Science and Technology (MST) has a physics laboratory (dry and wet) and a field laboratory. Laboratory activities cannot be separated from potential hazards that can cause the risk of work accidents due to tools, materials, and the work environment. The establishment of a culture of health, safety, and the environment (HSE) and the application of a procedure for identifying possible risks and hazards, known as job safety analysis (JSA), are two strategies used to prevent and lessen work accidents in physics and field laboratories. Determining the efficacy of introducing HSE culture in the lab was the aim of this investigation. Analytical and observational cross-sectional methods were employed in quantitative research procedures. The variables used to evaluate whether the HSE culture has been applied are knowledge of HSE, the application of HSE, and comprehension of PPE. The results of observations showed that the application of HSE was reasonably efficient as a guide for safe and healthy activities; nevertheless, it still requires assistance and the fulfillment of many work processes in the laboratory.
