Abstract

In 2022, the evaluation of the Family Intervention Program in Indonesia’s public health sector showed a realization rate of 45.14% of the 50% target. This highlights the need to strengthen human resources to improve program performance. This meta-analysis examined the effects of leadership, competence, and work environment on the performance of health service employees in Indonesia. A total of 1,798 studies were identified, and 13 met inclusion criteria using the PRISMA method and were appraised with the JBI instrument. Data were analyzed using JASP 0.17.2.1 to estimate effect sizes via forest and funnel plots. Results indicated that leadership (p < 0.001; ES = 0.195), competence (p < 0.001; ES = 0.223), and work environment (p = 0.008; ES = 0.228) each significantly affected employee performance. The work environment had the largest overall influence. Strengthening these factors is essential to enhance the performance of Indonesia’s health workforce.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is a chronic disease that requires lifelong antiretroviral (ARV) therapy. However, conventional delivery methods such as oral and injectable medications, often present challenges including pain, poor adherence, and limited access to healthcare services, particularly in remote areas. This study aimed to systematically review the effectiveness of microneedle technology as an alternative ARV drug delivery method. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar databases. Studies were selected based on inclusion criteria following the PICOS framework, and data synthesis was performed in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. The study demonstrated that microneedles (particularly the soluble and hydrogel varieties) are capable of effectively delivering ARVs through the skin, with promising pharmacokinetic responses. This technology is minimally invasive, painless, and easier to self-administer, potentially improving adherence in HIV patients. Microneedle- based drug delivery technology is promising as an alternative to ARV therapy. Further research is needed to test long-term effectiveness and patient acceptability on a broader clinical scale.

Abstract

The paradox of emotional proximity in modern family dynamics occurs when children are more open to external parties than their own parents. This research aims to synthesize the factors underlying this phenomenon and its implications for family communication in the digital era. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA protocol, systematic searches were conducted on Scopus, SINTA, and Google Scholar databases (2000–2025). From 537 identified records, 7 primary studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using thematic synthesis. Results show that child openness is primarily determined by perceived relational safety rather than interaction frequency. Authoritarian parenting and emotional suppression were found as main inhibiting factors, while peers and digital platforms provide a more democratic space for identity negotiation. The synthesis reveals that children manage privacy boundaries selectively, where boundaries toward parents become stricter as a form of self-protection. This research suggests a parenting transition towards emotion coaching, prioritizing empathy and validation over mere technical problem-solving to overcome the paradox.

Abstract

Adolescents are a vulnerable group to nutritional problems due to their rapid growth and development, which require increased nutrient intake. One of the most common nutritional problems among adolescents in South Kalimantan Province is anemia, with a prevalence of 21.60%, and 23.54% in Banjar Regency. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, compliance with iron tablet supplementation, and eating habits, and the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls. This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 47 adolescents selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires to assess independent variables (knowledge, attitudes, compliance with iron supplementation, and eating habits), and a hemoglobinometer was used to measure hemoglobin (Hb) levels to determine anemia status. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis with frequency distribution tables and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test. The results showed no significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.246), attitudes (p = 1.000), compliance with iron supplementation (p = 1.000), and eating habits (p = 0.375) and the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls. However, descriptive findings indicate that poor eating habits tend to increase the risk of anemia.

Abstract

Tuberculosis in young children is influenced by environmental conditions and household hygiene practices, as this age group has an underdeveloped immune system. This study aims to examine the association between housing conditions—such as lighting, ventilation, and housing density—and hygiene practices and healthy lifestyles with the incidence of tuberculosis in toddlers. A case-control study was conducted involving 42 participants (21 cases and 21 controls) in the service area of the Martapura 2 Community Health Center. Data were collected through home observations, interviews with parents, and direct measurements, and analyzed using chi-square or Fisher’s exact tests and logistic regression. The results showed that poor hygiene and healthy lifestyle practices (p = 0.026; OR = 5.667) and inadequate lighting (p = 0.045; OR = 5.455) were significantly associated with tuberculosis incidence among toddlers. Multivariate analysis identified hygiene and healthy living practices as the most dominant factor (p = 0.031; Exp(B) = 4.978), while lighting showed a near-significant association (p = 0.055; Exp(B) = 4.692). Housing density and ventilation were not significantly associated with tuberculosis incidence. These findings highlight the importance of improving household hygiene practices and ensuring adequate lighting as key strategies to reduce the risk of tuberculosis in toddlers.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly in West Nusa Tenggara and North Lombok Regency. It is influenced by a combination of biological and environmental factors, with immunization history, exclusive breastfeeding (EBF), and breastfeeding duration being key modifiable determinants. This cross-sectional observational study examined the association between these factors and stunting among children aged 0–59 months. A total of 83 children were included in the analysis, with bivariate analysis conducted using the Chi-square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). Results showed that most children were male (59%), did not experience stunting (54.2%), received full immunization (67.5%), practiced EBF (83.15%), and were breastfed for less than 2 years (59.4%). No statistically significant association was found between immunization history (p=0.592) or EBF practices (p=0.219) and stunting. However, a significant relationship was identified between shorter breastfeeding duration (less than 2 years) and higher stunting risk (p=0.009, PR=2.62, 95% CI: 1.225–5.593). In conclusion, there was no significant relationship between the history of immunization and the history of exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting. However, there was a significant relationship between the duration of breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting

Abstract

The adolescent phase is considered sensitive because the decision to engage in sexual behavior can arise and potentially lead to the transmission of diseases such as HIV/AIDS. Lack of information and knowledge about HIV/AIDS among adolescents is one of the reasons why the culture of free sex among adolescents can continue to develop and increase the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education delivered through animated videos on social media on adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes. Method used Quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest with control design. The research was conducted at SMK 4 Tasikmalaya. Sampling was done using probability sampling, consisting of 21 respondents in each group. Statistical tests using dependent t-test and independent t test. There were the mean scores of knowledges and attitude, before and after education in the intervention group and for the control group (p-value 0.000). There was a mean increase in the average score after education between the two groups with a p-value of 0.012 for knowledge and a p-value of 0.021 for attitude. Health education using animated video media on social media can increase adolescents' knowledge and attitudes about HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

Dengue fever (DF) remains a significant public health problem in Kalimantan. Its transmission is influenced by the interaction of multiple factors, including climate, spatial conditions, entomological aspects, behavioral factors, and socioeconomic conditions. However, scientific evidence regarding these factors in Kalimantan remains limited and has not been comprehensively synthesized. This study aims to examine the climatic, spatial, entomological, behavioral, and socioeconomic drivers of dengue transmission in Kalimantan to inform future control strategies. This study employed a systematic literature review design following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A total of 7,410 articles published between 2016 and 2025 were identified from several databases, of which 7 articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in the final analysis. Data were analyzed using narrative synthesis by grouping key findings. The results show that DF incidence in Kalimantan is spatially heterogeneous and forms risk clusters associated with population density and settlement structure. Climatic factors, particularly temperature, humidity, and rainfall, influence seasonal patterns of DF, but do not fully explain variations in risk across regions. Evidence related to entomological and behavioral dimensions remains limited, despite their important role in modifying transmission risk. Socioeconomic factors are generally assessed using proxy indicators. DF in Kalimantan is a multidimensional phenomenon that requires an integrative and predictive research approach to support effective control strategies.

Abstract

Neglected urinary tract infection can be a potent contributor to chronic kidney disease later. The aim of this study is to describe the radiological findings in children with urinary tract infection (UTI). We retrospectively analyzed medical records of children with UTI in 2019 – 2021 period at Hasan Sadikin Hospital who performed radiological examination including kidney ultrasound, CT-scan, mictio cystouretrography (MSU), and MRI. Demographic and radiological characteristics of investigations were assessed. Of 74 patients with abnormalities, 45.9% found in 2019. There are 42 patients aged 1 – 3 years, 15 aged 2 – 5 years, and 3 aged 28 days to 1 year. Male patients dominated most of the cases (51.4%) with most of the patient undergo renal ultrasound (RUS) as much as 98.6% followed by MRI. Thickening of the bladder, hydronephrosis, and other abnormalities i.e., duplicating of ureter, vesico-ureteral reflux, and duplicating of collecting system were found in 54, 17, and 6 children respectively. UTI is more common in children aged 1 – 3 years, particularly in boys. Abnormalities finding profoundly in RUS examination. Thickening of the bladder is detected in more than half of the children followed by hydronephrosis and other abnormalities.

Abstract

Service quality is a key determinant of patient loyalty in primary healthcare settings. This study aimed to analyse the association between the dimensions of SERVQUAL—a service quality assessment model that evaluates tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy—and revisit intention at the Lambung Mangkurat Medical Centre (LMMC) Clinic in Banjarbaru. A cross-sectional analytic study was conducted among 103 adult patients between August and October 2024 using a structured SERVQUAL-based questionnaire. Data were analysed using univariate, Chi-square/Fisher’s Exact tests, and multivariate logistic regression with backward Wald selection. Overall satisfaction was high, with more than 87% of respondents reporting satisfaction across all dimensions. Revisit intention was reported by 93.2% of respondents. Bivariate analysis showed that assurance (p = 0.014) and empathy (p = 0.009) were significantly associated with revisit intention. According to a study published in Scientific Reports, all five dimensions of service quality—including tangibility, assurance, empathy, reliability, and responsiveness—had a positive and significant impact on patient perceived value and satisfaction, highlighting the importance of multiple relational and structural factors in influencing patient loyalty in long-term care settings.
