Abstract

For building construction located in high-risk seismic zone, ductile material is required which can be fulfilled with Ferrocement. Ferrocement has been widely applied as construction material and strengthening damaged structures due to its unique properties. In this study, the effect of Specific surface of wire-mesh reinforcement on the Displacement ductility behaviour of Ferrocement panels was investigated. Ferrocement panels of 20x200x600mm, made of 1Pc:3Ps mortar and water-cement ratio of 0.50, was prepared. The Ferrocement panels were reinforced with evenly distributed Galvanised welded wire-mesh having various opening sizes and wire-mesh diameter. The main variable in this research is the Specific surface. Ferrocement panels were tested with third-point loading correspond to SNI 4431:2011. Based on data analysis it was concluded that Displacement ductility raised as the Specific surface Sr increase. Furthermore, minimum specific surface of 4mm2/mm3 is recommended for seismicity zone

Abstract

The diversity of dryland topography, such as flat land, sloping land, and even steep slopes, often becomes an obstacle in the development of agricultural businesses. One of these obstacles is the limited water sources and the method of providing water in appropriate agricultural development. Currently, many irrigation systems have been developed, but the sprinkler irrigation system with perforated pipes is still very rarely used in the field. The perforated irrigation system is an irrigation system with perforated pipes, where water pressure is used as energy to emit water to the land in one or two land lines. This perforated irrigation test aims to determine the effect of variations in the length of the perforated pipe and variations in the head on the distribution of irrigation in the lateral pipe and in each perforation hole in the lateral pipe and to find the regression relationship of these parameters. This perforated pipe irrigation system test used three lateral pipes with a distance between the pipes of 1 m and a water tank height of approximately 3 meters with a capacity of ± 200 liters. The test was carried out on three variations in the length of the lateral pipe, namely L1 = 4 meters, L2 = 5 meters, and L3 = 6 meters with a diameter of 1/2 inch, the distance between the perforation holes is 60 cm. Meanwhile, the variations in the test head heights consisted of h1 = 350 cm, h2 = 360 cm, h3 = 370 cm, and h4 = 380 cm. The results showed that irrigation distribution was more stable at lengths L1 and L2, and the larger the head, the smaller the average irrigation deviation. There was a decrease in irrigation distribution of 23.33 ml for every 60 cm increase in perforated pipe length. In general, the regression relationship between irrigation yield and the position of the perforated pipe holes is polynomial regression

change mitigation efforts. This study aims to measure soil carbon stocks and analyze the performance of mangrove vegetation in Tanjung Batu, Sekotong District, West Lombok Regency. This study was conducted from August to October 2025 using an experimental method and sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling method with six sample points representing ecosystem conditions. Soil samples were taken at three depths (0–15 cm, 15–30 cm, and 30–45 cm) for analysis of organic C, particle size distribution, bulk density, and porosity. Vegetation analysis was carried out using 10 × 10 m plots to obtain density, dominance, and diversity values. The analysis results showed that the soil organic C content ranged from 1.47% to 7.02%, which increased with increasing soil depth. Soil carbon stocks ranged from 34.92–74.55 tons/ha with an average value of 53.53 tons/ha. The vegetation analysis results showed a diversity value of 0.68, which is considered low because only two species were found, namely Rhizophora stylosa and Avicennia lanata, with a total density of 4,483 trees/ha, with Rhizophora stylosa having a relative dominance value of 56.79%. Overall, the Tanjung Batu mangrove ecosystem has a high soil carbon storage capacity and potential as a carbon sink in coastal areas. Soil depth, vegetation density, soil volume weight, and soil porosity play a role in determining the amount of soil carbon stocks.

Abstract

Fused deposition modeling-based 3D printing requires biomaterial filaments with stable dimensions, uniform surface texture, and adequate mechanical properties for orthopedic applications. This study examined the effects of extrusion temperature and PLA/hydroxyapatite composition on the characteristics of biocomposite filaments. Hydroxyapatite was synthesized from Pinctada maxima pearl shell waste through wet precipitation, mixed with PLA, and processed using a single-screw extruder. PLA extrusion temperatures were varied at 120, 125, 130, and 135°C, while PLA/hydroxyapatite compositions were 100:0, 95:5, 90:10, and 85:15. The results showed that increasing temperature improved surface texture and diameter stability; 135°C produced the smoothest filament surface with a diameter of 2.080 mm, whereas the highest mechanical properties of PLA were obtained at 130°C. In the biocomposite filaments, all diameters remained within the standard range for 3D printing. The PLA/hydroxyapatite 90:10 composition showed the best performance, with a density of 1.470 g/cm³, tensile strength of 4.692 MPa, elastic modulus of 1426.500 MPa, and elongation of 0.173 mm. Adding 15% hydroxyapatite reduced quality due to particle agglomeration. Further validation is required.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of rainfall on transmission energy in the radio frequency domain in Mataram City, focusing on wireless communication systems operating at 2.4 GHz to 30 GHz and 5G mmWave scenarios. The research employs a link budget-based analytical approach integrating the ITU-R P.838 rain attenuation model and channel performance simulation using RSSI, SINR, and transmission energy parameters. The results indicate that rainfall in the study area is predominantly light with stratiform characteristics; however, it still contributes to a measurable degradation in signal quality. Increasing rainfall intensity leads to a reduction in RSSI and SINR values and decreases transmission energy efficiency. The impact becomes more significant at higher frequencies, where 2.4 GHz systems remain relatively stable, while frequencies above 10 GHz exhibit notable performance degradation, and mmWave systems show the highest risk of outage. These findings confirm that tropical rainfall conditions directly affect radio frequency communication performance. Therefore, adaptive system design and mitigation strategies are required to maintain network reliability, particularly for 5G implementations

Abstract

The research aims to examine the diversity, dominance, equality, and frequency of weed species and to assess the potential of the soil as a weed seed bank in different types of plantations in arid regions. Descriptive research was conducted on plantations for coconuts, cashews, cocoa, coffee, and mixed gardens. Experiments to investigate the potential of the soil as a seed bank for weeds were carried out in the greenhouse of the Agricultural Faculty of Mataram University using a completely randomized one-factor design with five types of soil from the five plantations. The research results show that coconut plantation land and mixed gardens have the highest weed species diversity index and evenness with low dominance. In contrast, cashew, cocoa, and coffee plantation lands show high species dominance with low diversity and evenness, resulting in five highly dominant weed species, namely: P. Conjugatum, A. Compressus, D. Esculentum, B. Spicata, and S. torvum. Coconut plantations and mixed gardens show a significantly higher number of species, populations, and the dry biomass weight of weed grasses and reeds compared to almonds, cocoa, and coffee, as well as a faster growth time of the weed seed bank, reflecting the ecological conditions that support the soil's potential as a weed seed bank.

Abstract

It is not yet known, among the nutsedge, grasses, and broad-leaved plants, which group has the greatest impact on the yield loss of shallots. There is also no information yet on whether the application of NPK fertilizer can increase the competitiveness of shallots against weeds. For this reason, a study was conducted aiming to determine the dose of NPK fertilizer that increases the competitiveness of the plants in competition with weeds. The research results show that nutsedges significantly dominate in the presence of shallots, both in unfertilized plants and in plants fertilized with NPK Ponska at a dose of 200–400 kg ha-1, with a weighted dominance value of 59.55% – 70.87%. In contrast, the weighted dominance values for grass weeds and broadleaf weeds are 35.82% – 27.46% and 3.93% – 1.43%, respectively. The yield loss in unfertilized shallots with NPK Ponska due to weed competition was 21.57% for nutsedges, 18.96% for grass, and 7.78% for broadleaf weeds, while with fertilization using NPK Ponska at a dose of 200 - 400 kg ha-1, the losses ranged between 22.085% – 28.755%, 11.37% – 14.77%, and 3.404% – 3.711%, respectively. Shallots that were kept weed-free during their growth and fertilized with NPK Ponska 400 kg ha-1 achieved the highest yield of fresh table onions compared to other treatments, namely 400.94 g m-2, at an ideal population density of 64 clumps m-2. The lowest yield was observed in plants that had weeds during their growth and were also fertilized with NPK Ponska 400 kg ha-1, with 76.19 g m-2 at a population density of 20.33 clumps m-2

Abstract

Kaligesing Peranakan Etawa (PE) goats are local livestock with high economic value and are widely raised as contest animals. This study aimed to evaluate shoulder height-based grades, grade distribution, selling value, and the relationships among age, shoulder height, grade, and price of Kaligesing PE goats in a livestock contest in Mertak Tombok Village, Central Lombok. This study used a quantitative descriptive survey method with 54 goats, comprising 39 males and 15 females. Data were collected through direct observation, shoulder-height measurements, contest data recording, and interviews. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis. The results showed that 41 goats met the age criteria for grade assessment, while 13 goats aged 0–<4 months were not graded. Male goats were dominated by grade A, accounting for 80.65%, whereas female goats were dominated by grade B, accounting for 80.00%. The highest average shoulder height and price were found in male goats aged >12–36 months, at 101.40 cm and IDR 71,533,333, respectively. Age had a very strong correlation with shoulder height and price, while shoulder height had a strong to very strong correlation with grade and selling price. Therefore, shoulder height can serve as a practical indicator for the initial selection of Kaligesing PE goats for contests and breeding

Abstract

Root growth dynamics in cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) play a critical role in determining water and nutrient uptake, supporting canopy development, and sustaining productivity under diverse environmental conditions. Unlike the canopy, which is relatively easy to observe, root growth is often overlooked because it occurs belowground. This review aims to synthesize current knowledge on the rhythmic growth of cacao roots, particularly fine roots, and their relationships with canopy growth, water availability, nutrient acquisition, shade systems, and orchard management. A narrative-integrative literature review was conducted using scientific articles, technical publications, and relevant research reports. The review indicates that cacao root growth is rhythmic and closely associated with shoot growth cycles. During leaf flushing, root activity may decline because assimilates are preferentially allocated to developing young leaves. Fine roots serve as the primary organs for water and nutrient uptake, but their growth and function are strongly influenced by soil moisture, aeration, organic matter, soil compaction, root competition with shade trees, and nutrient distribution in the rooting zone. Agroforestry systems may improve microclimate and soil conditions, yet they may also intensify belowground competition when shade tree species and spacing are not properly managed. This review emphasizes that cacao root management should include soil moisture conservation, fertilization based on active rooting zones, organic matter maintenance, shade regulation, and prevention of soil compaction and waterlogging. Understanding root growth rhythms is essential for developing productive, adaptive, and sustainable cacao orchard management.
