Abstract

Many efforts have been made by various parties in overcoming the problem of waste and flooding, in residential areas that are starting to develop, one of which is by utilizing organic waste as a biopore filler to improve soil absorption and produce compost. The biopore infiltration hole technology can utilize organic waste to fill biopore media, which is used as a food source by biota in the soil layer. This study aims to determine the rate of biopore infiltration in the use of several types of organic waste such as (1) straw, (2) leaves and (3) household waste. Biopori is made from pipapvc 4 ”and 1 m in length with installation into the ground 80 cm and the rest above the soil surface 20 cm for testing purposes with a total of 12 test points and tested after 7 days to 21 days. For biopore holes without filler, the highest absorption rate was 85 cm / hour and the lowest was 42,167 cm / hour. The type of straw waste obtained infiltration rate of 179.34 cm / hour and the lowest infiltration rate of 86,770 cm / hour, with an average of 113.56 cm / hour. In the filler with leaf litter, the highest infiltration rate was 100,111 cm / hour and the lowest was 59,743 cm / hour, with an average value of 84.69 cm / hour. Whereas for household waste, the lowest absorption rate was 38 cm / hour and the highest was 100,111 cm / hour, and the average was 52,979 cm / hour. At the age of 7 days the waste has the highest absorption rate and after the waste is 21 days old it should be replaced with a new one.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the ability of the ECHAM5 GCM model output data in estimating monthly rainfall on the island of Lombok. The data used in this study are ECHAM5 monthly rainfall data and automatic rainfall recorder (ARR) measurement rain data for 2000-2018 obtained from ARR Gunung Sari. Correction of bias is conducted by using the mean ratio method and the regression method. The method that produces the best approach is then used to obtain rain data projections and a simple regression method. Evaluation and validation used the Pearson correlation coefficient (r), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) values. The results obtained are that the daily and monthly rainfall data from the ECHAM5 model cannot be directly used to replace the rain measurement data because of its very low accuracy. The downscaling technique performed on daily and monthly rainfall data using the average ratio method does not show satisfactory performance where the efficiency figures produced are still low even gave a slight increasing number. However, the ECHAM5 model data can be used to obtain rainfall projections on a monthly and seasonal scale with a good and satisfactory correlation.  Key words: mean ratio method; global climate model; ECHAM5; monthly rainfall.

Abstract

Abstract

Estimated flood discharge value for water structure design, ideally determined based on the frequency analysis of measured discharge data. However, the measured discharge data is often not recorded or if the length is limited. So, it needs the technique in getting the design flood value from rain data through the Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (SUH) method. This study examined the suitability of the three (3) SUH methods (Nakayasu, Limantara and ITB2) in generating the design flood discharge and compared it with the Observed Unit Hydrograph (OUH) of the elongated shape watersheds, namely Sidutan and Reak. The main values that are compared are peak discharge, peak time, and base time of HSS to the HSO value. The results obtained from the Sidutan watershed and the Reak watershed are both elongated shape watershed, have almost the same length as the main river, but the area of the Sidutan watershed is greater than Reak watershed. The average OUH of both watersheds indicated that both Qp and Tb of the Sidutan watershed are greater than Reak, but the time peak hydrograph (Tp) was reached at almost the same time. The SUH method that produced unit hydrographs closest to OUH is Nakayasu, then ITB2 and Limantara, respectively.

Abstract

Jenggala Village is one of the villages in North Lombok Regency that was affected by the 2018 Lombok earthquake. Most damage to buildings and houses was caused by noncompliance with earthquake-resistant building standards. As the lower structure, the foundation is essential to distribute the structure's load, preferably given a layer that dampens vibrations. Used tires are an alternative material that can reduce seismic vibrations and be used as an earthquake-resistant house foundation. This community service project aims to raise public awareness about earthquake-resistant houses by using used tires as a foundation to reduce seismic vibrations. The methods used in this service activity are the lecture approach, discussion, question-and-answer sessions, and demonstrations with the foundation model made from used tires. The approach used is a participatory approach that is oriented towards efforts to increase community participation. The preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage are the activity stages. Based on the results of the community service activities, it was shown that the participants understood the training material for making earthquake-resistant foundations from used tires because the material was easy to obtain and very easy to manufacture. Partners have high motivation to participate in training. They are willing to share the training results with other community members so that using used tires as earthquake-resistant house foundations can support the post-earthquake rehabilitation and reconstruction process in all earthquake-affected areas in North Lombok Regency.

Abstract

Ecodrainage is a concept for managing rainwater and runoff in urban drainage systems which aims to allow as much water as possible to be absorbed into the ground. During the rainy season, the Grand Muslim Residential area often experiences flooding. One alternative solution is the application of ecodrainage in the form of retention pond and bioretention. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing retention pond and bioretention in reducing the amount of run-off flow. From the results of the analysis it was found that the application of retention ponds could reduce the volume of runoff by 16.25% with a reduction volume of 660 m3 against the incoming flood volume of 4,183.98 m3 originating from Blocks A, B, C, D and E.. Meanwhile the application Bioretention has an efficiency of 1.83% with a reduced discharge of 58.29 lt/sec against the overall housing discharge of 3.193.50 lt/sec.
