Abstract

Microplastic contamination in refill drinking water is a relevant public health concern because this product is widely consumed. This study analyzed the effect of boiling temperature on microplastic abundance and characteristics in refill drinking water from Samarinda City. Four samples from different refill depots were randomly collected and treated as unboiled water, water boiled at 70°C, and water boiled at 100°C. Microplastics were separated by density separation using saturated NaCl, organic matter digestion with 30% H2O2, filtration, and microscopic identification. The results showed that refill drinking water contained pellets, fragments, films, and fibers, with black particles being dominant at 58.87%. Boiling at 70°C produced the lowest microplastic abundance and reduced particles by up to 50% compared with unboiled water. In contrast, boiling at 100°C left higher abundance and generated film particles of 20 particles/L. These findings indicate that moderate-temperature boiling is more effective for reducing microplastic exposure before water consumption

Abstract

High-plasticity clay soil commonly exhibits low bearing capacity and therefore requires an effective, economical, and applicable reinforcement method. This study aims to analyze the effect of bamboo pile length variation on the unconfined compressive strength of clay soil from Kedungdandang Hamlet, Tapanrejo Village, Muncar District, Banyuwangi Regency. Disturbed soil samples were collected at a depth of 70 cm and characterized through sieve analysis, water content, specific gravity, unit weight, and Atterberg limit tests. Mechanical performance was evaluated using the Unconfined Compression Test on untreated clay and clay reinforced with bamboo piles measuring 3 mm in diameter, 1.25 cm spacing, and lengths of 3.5, 5, and 7.5 cm. The soil was classified as high-plasticity clay, with a liquid limit of 81.81% and plasticity index of 46.96%. The average UCS increased from 26.60 kPa to 32.66, 36.61, and 47.19 kPa. The 7.5 cm piles provided the highest improvement, 77.41% over untreated soil.

Abstract

This study analyzes the quality of Telkomsel’s 5G cellular network at Lombok International Airport in outdoor and indoor areas. Measurements were conducted using a three-day walk test method with a POCO X5 5G smartphone, G-NetTrack Pro, and OpenSignal applications. The analyzed parameters included Reference Signal Received Power, Reference Signal Received Quality, and Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio. The results show that the average RSRP value in the outdoor area was -88 dBm, while the indoor values on the first, second, and third floors were -89 dBm, -85 dBm, and -89 dBm, respectively. The average RSRQ values were -11 dB outdoors, -11 dB on the first floor, -10 dB on the second floor, and -12 dB on the third floor. Meanwhile, the outdoor SINR reached 10 dB, while indoor SINR values were 16 dB, 19 dB, and 13 dB. Overall, Telkomsel’s 5G network performs well, although outdoor optimization remains necessary

Abstract

Groundwater availability in catchment areas is influenced by the soil capacity to infiltrate rainfall, which is related to vegetation cover conditions. This study aimed to analyze the infiltration response to variations in vegetation density in the Gunung Sasak region, West Lombok. Field measurements were conducted at six sites representing different vegetation-cover densities using a double-ring infiltrometer following SNI 7752:2012. Infiltration data were analyzed descriptively, comparatively, and through linear regression, then related to soil physical properties. The results showed that dense vegetation produced higher infiltration rates than open land or sparsely vegetated areas. The densest forest site recorded an initial infiltration rate of 48 cm/hour, an average infiltration rate of 15.600 cm/hour, and an infiltration capacity of 8.0 cm/hour. Vegetation density showed strong to very strong correlations with infiltration, with R² values of 0.7285–0.8513. Porosity was positively associated with infiltration (R² 0.9126), whereas bulk density showed a negative relationship (R² 0.9243)

Abstract

Blood cockles (Anadara granosa) are filter-feeding bivalves that may accumulate microplastics and become a pathway of human exposure through seafood consumption. This study analyzed size-based variation in microplastic contamination in blood cockles marketed at Jakabaring Central Market, Palembang, Indonesia. Fifteen individuals were classified into three size groups: small (<3 cm), medium (3–4 cm), and large (>4 cm). Microplastics were extracted using 10% KOH digestion and identified microscopically according to abundance, shape, and color. The results showed a slight increase in abundance from 12.8 particles/individual in small cockles to 13.0 and 14.6 particles/individual in medium and large cockles, but the differences were not significant (p=0.467). Fragments were the dominant shape, while black particles predominated in all size groups. Pearson correlation indicated a weak positive relationship between soft tissue weight and microplastic abundance (r=0.360; p=0.188). These findings indicate that contamination is driven by pollution sources and environmental conditions rather than individual size.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis struktur komunitas copepoda di Estuari Sungai Musi selama musim hujan. Sampel dikumpulkan pada sepuluh stasiun menggunakan plankton net 30 µm dengan metode vertical haul. Analisis dilakukan terhadap komposisi taksonomi, kelimpahan, kelimpahan relatif, keanekaragaman, keseragaman, dan dominansi. Sebanyak sepuluh takson ditemukan, terdiri atas Calanoida, Cyclopoida, Harpacticoida, dan stadia Nauplius. Kelimpahan berkisar 24–18.860 ind.m-³, dengan nilai tertinggi pada Stasiun 3. Nauplius menjadi kelompok dominan dengan kontribusi sekitar 60% dari total individu, diikuti Oithona, Cyclops, dan Calanus. Indeks keanekaragaman berkisar 0,00–1,55, keseragaman 0,00–0,96, dan dominansi 0,22–1,00. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa komunitas copepoda bervariasi antarstasiun, dengan sebagian lokasi memiliki struktur yang lebih seimbang, sedangkan lokasi lain masih didominasi oleh takson tertentu.
