Abstract

AbstractMinangkabau's wedding dress is one of traditional arts in Minangkabau's society. The symbols at wedding dress are foundedpunishment and sense of morality about human deportment.Although the era have changed, the wedding dress still exists atwedding ceremonies of Minangkabau, especially in Padang. Thewedding dress shows many great aesthetic things which are combined by shapes and symbols containing morals and advices for the meaningful marriage. It is a heritage from the ancestor.Keyword: wedding dress, symbols, aesthetics, Minangkabau.

Abstract

Discourse on gerder equality in Islam has so far been ahermeneutical debate. This is because there are at least twomethods of interpretation: the first is interpretation as recollectionof meaning and the second is interpretation as exercise ofsuspicion. Unfortunately, these two methods have always beenbrought into conflict with each other. As a result, this situationhinders the possibility of arriving at a model of interpretation thatis elegant but still compatible with the spirit of Al Quran. In fact,what be done is to adopt the positive aspects of each method. Inthis way, it will be possible to generate a model of interpretationthat is democratic and contextual, so that religion truly becomes asystem of faith and worship which has great respect for variousgender issues.

Abstract

Manusia menghadapi persoalan yang menyangkut otonomi maupun dependensi dalam hidupnya. Secara umum dapat dikatakan bahwa manusia memiliki keinginan mendasar untuk dapat menentukan keputusan-keputusan tindakannya secara bebas, kendatipun di satu sisi ia juga menyadari bahwa dalam hidupnya banyak yang tak dapat dipecahkan secara otonom, banyak segi dalam hidupnya yang tidak dapat ia tolak sepenuhnya dan harus diterima begitu saja.

Abstract

The critical philosophy of history or the scientific philosophy of history is deal with how historians reconstruct the pas event. Historians in their attempt to explain the pas event, according to the historian philosophers, are able to use of the deductive pattern of explanation. Researcher wants, in the first instance, to explore and reflect the concept of deductive nomological explanation, as it was suggested by Carl Gustav Hempel, William Dray, and Ernest Nagel, and it is implemented in history. Secondly, it wants to criticize and give a way out of the deductive nomological explanataion that is applied in history

Abstract

“Pantang Melupakan Leluhur” is one of devotion's action from Islam Wetu Telu's believers in Desa Bayan, Kecamatan Bayan, Kabupaten Lombok Utara, Nusa Tenggara Barat, for the ancestors, as well as the way of life which makes them survive until now. This study was aiming to seek the cultural strategy behind the immortality of the ancestor values and analyze the historical awareness of "Pantang Melupakan Leluhur" Islam Wetu Telu by using philosophical hermeneutics method. The cultural strategy and the historical awareness of Islam Wetu Telu community relies on the feeling of fear and responsibility to what have been achieved and inherited by the past anchestor. The synthesis of spiral and God' destiny indicate that "Pantang Melupakan Leluhur" in the Islam Wetu Telu community is an ideal concept that is suitable with the historical movement of Indonesia which is attached in the identity of Indonesia, Pancasila.

Abstract

Tayub is one of the Javanese performing arts and it is widely known among people in rural areas. Despite the fact that today it is commonly perceived as a form of popular entertaintment, it has initially served as a sacred dance, intended to encourage such a magical attraction as fertility either agricultural plant fertility or marital fertility as well for general safety.A world view underlying this performing art is a mythical one, in which it assumes that the world as a whole is being dominated by supernatural power. As this power can be either friendly or hostile, a ritual performance like Tayub is perceived to be necessary as a way ti create a good relationship or to resolve a tension between human being and the world dominated by supernatural power.
