Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to measure the impact of graduate skills on job challenges in the labor market in Kosovo and also to measure the relationship between graduates' challenges at work and demographic characteristics (age, gender, educational level, and training). Methods: Quantitative methods were used to conduct this research, using a structured questionnaire. The study population was graduate students in the last five years in Kosovo, and the sample included 400 students according to Slovin's formula. Findings: Based on the research results, the acquired skills were inversely proportional to the challenges of the graduates in the labor market. According to the multiple linear regression, it turned out that the students' skills negatively affected their challenges. Also, the T-test and ANOVA showed significant results concerning gender, age, and training. Novelty/improvement: Through this research, higher education institutions receive feedback on what needs more attention to better prepare students to face the job market. Abstract

A lava flood disaster is a volcanic hazard that often occurs when heavy rains are happening at the top of a volcano. This flood carries volcanic material from upstream to downstream of the river, affecting populous areas located quite far from the volcano peak. Therefore, an advanced early warning system of cold lava floods is inarguably vital. This paper aims to present a reliable, remote, Early Warning System (EWS) specifically designed for lava flood detection, along with its disaster communication system. The proposed system consists of two main subsystems: lava flood detection and disaster communication systems. It utilizes a modified automatic rain gauge; a novel configured vibration sensor; Fuzzy Tree Decision algorithm; ESP microcontrollers that support IoT, and disaster communication tools (WhatsApp, SMS, radio communication). According to the experiment results, the prototype of rainfall detection using the tipping bucket rain gauge sensor can measure heavy and moderate rainfall intensities with 81.5% accuracy. Meanwhile, the prototype of earthquake vibration detection using a geophone sensor can remove noise from car vibrations with a Kalman filter and measure vibrations in high and medium intensity with an accuracy of 89.5%. Measurements from sensors are sent to the webserver. The disaster mitigation team uses data from the webserver to evacuate residents using the disaster communication method. Abstract

The misuse of health data stored in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system can be uncontrolled. For example, mishandling of privacy and data security related to Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19), containing patient diagnosis and vaccine certificate in Indonesia. We propose a system framework design by utilizing the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) and Blockchain technology to overcome this problem. The IPFS environment supports a large data storage with a distributed network powered by Ethereum blockchain. The combination of this technology allows data stored in the EHR to be secure and available at any time. All data are secured with a blockchain cryptographic algorithm and can only be accessed using a user's private key. System testing evaluates the mechanism and process of storing and accessing data from 346 computers connected to the IPFS network and Blockchain by considering several parameters, such as gas unit, CPU load, network latency, and bandwidth used. The obtained results show that 135205 gas units are used in each transaction based on the tests. The average execution speed ranges from 12.98 to 14.08 GHz, 26 KB/s is used for incoming, and 4 KB/s is for outgoing bandwidth. Our contribution is in designing a blockchain-based decentralized EHR system by maximizing the use of private keys as an access right to maintain the integrity of COVID-19 diagnosis and certificate data. Abstract

This research aims to study the effects of technological organization, management of cost innovation, and value creation. The population in this study was the canned and instant food export companies, which are crucial industries that earn incomes for Thailand. The quantitative research method was carried out using questionnaires sent to all companies (census) with the manufacturing managers as respondents. The survey revealed that these companies had a high level of technological organization, value creation, and cost innovation, except for reducing unnecessary functions at a moderate level because the products need to maintain customer demand; therefore, unnecessary adjustments may not be made. PLS-SEM assesses the reflective and structural models to test the research hypotheses. The findings revealed significant influences among three pairs of constructs: (1) technological organization had a positive effect on cost innovation, (2) cost innovation had a positive effect on value creation, and (3) technological organization had a positive effect on value creation. Abstract

The heat exchanger (HE) is a device that is used to complete the process of heat transfer between different matters without direct mixing. Therefore, it is of great importance in the transfer of energy and the completion of various energy transition processes. In the processes of HE between different energy systems, many factors influence and play a major and important role in the efficiency of transformation and exchange in forms of energy, such as the length, the material type, the exchange fluid, the surrounding environment, and many other factors. In this work, the effect of the HE length of the parallel and counter flow HEs was investigated based on the use of computer simulation programs. There was a significant impact of the exchange factors, especially the length of the HEs in both the parallel and counter-flow HEs, on the quality and efficiency of the HE and the temperature distribution. The overall evaluation shows that by increasing the length of the HE for both parallel and counter-flow HEs, the heat transfer is increased and the heat distribution becomes more homogeneous, which aids in enhancing the transfer of energy efficiency inside the HEs. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2022-06-01-010 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

The crisis phenomena irregularity due to the COVID-19 pandemic requires new, to a certain extent, non-routine tools for their settlement, namely the action effect enhancers of the state and private investors to develop the economy in conditions of shrinking volumes of available financial resources. The paper proposes the Investment Multiplier (IM) as such a tool. The author's model was generated based on a detailed description of developing multiplier processes to analyze its action. The study aims to estimate the IM values of the economies of Kurgan, Sverdlovsk, and Chelyabinsk, the most industrially developed Russian regions, and identify the main points of their economic growth. The key research method was regression analysis. The present study establishes interconnectivity between marginal propensity and savings, marginal propensity and imports, marginal tax rate, and investment accelerator, and their influence on the regional multiplier. From a position of investment multiplier, the authors try to narrow the research gap in how investment policies influence the economic growth of the Russian regions. The study results determine IM values for the analyzed regions, identifying their differences and reasons. The key points of economic growth in these regions were identified. The scientific novelty involves applying changes in regional multiplier processes' dynamics to determine the key development points. Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the application of e-payment has rapidly increased. However, e-payment has not been able to achieve a trustworthy level in e-commerce transactions. Thus, cash payment methods with Cash On Delivery (COD) services still dominate C2C e-commerce payment transactions in Indonesia. This study aims to investigate factors that affect users' switching intentions from COD to e-payment services. The research model was adopted by using the Push-Pull-Mooring framework, integrating perceived COVID-19 risk, technology acceptance, and transaction effort. Empirical research was conducted using data from 546 COD and e-payment users in Indonesia, with Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) being used to validate the model and analyze the hypotheses. The results indicate that switching intention from COD to e-payment is significantly influenced by pull factors in e-payment, which are economic benefits, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and critical mass. There are also two mooring factors that significantly influence the switching intention from COD to e-payment, which are trust and perceived security and privacy. This study makes a significant contribution to the literature in terms of validating a theoretical framework that emphasizes factors that influence user switching intentions from COD to e-payment in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Abstract

Objective: In this study, α-Fe2O3 thin film was formed on a glass substrate to study the impact of adding cold plasma on the self-cleaning and antibacterial properties of the samples. Method: The samples were synthesized using the chemical spray pyrolysis (CSP) method at 450°C. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and atomic force microscope were used to investigate the morphological and structural characteristics of α-Fe2O3 thin layers prior to and following plasma injection. Finding: The degree of wettability and antibacterial characteristics of iron oxide (hematite) thin film were evaluated in the presence of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria prior to and following plasma injection, given the great potential of plasma injection in the surface modification of thin films. Abstract

User data security innovation is a particular concern in protecting one's privacy rights, which is one of the serious violations when an attacker can bypass the user authentication so that it looks like something legitimate and becomes legal. Based on these issues, the research aims at optimizing and evaluating the blockchain-based authentication systems to minimize data leakage, manipulate the data, and modify the data. Blockchain is one of the innovations that can solve this problem. Data or transactions in the blockchain are saved in hash form to make it difficult for hackers to break into them. The Blockchain implementation uses the Solidity programming language to build smart contracts and other tools such as MetaMask, Ganache, and Truffle. The Network Forensics Development Life Cycle (NFLDC) is used as a framework with the following five stages: Initiation, Acquisition, Implementation, Operation, and Disposition. Based on the research conducted, the attack strategy against blockchain-based systems consists of several scenarios covering the Burp Suite, XSS, SQL Injection, and DoS. The results show that the percentage of authentication optimization reaches a value of 90.1%, and 8.9% is the percentage for evaluating systems such as the possibility of cyberattack. Abstract

In the past decades, there have been many groundbreaking discoveries and advancements in the field of particle physics. One of the important elementary breakthroughs is the phenomenology of neutrino oscillations. This includes the properties of neutrinos in the Standard Model (SM) and how neutrino oscillations and their properties have been so important in strengthening the SM. Neutrino oscillations also play a vital role in understanding the current nature of our Universe and the way it behaves. There is also a great interest in neutrino oscillations and their connection with dark matter. In this review, we start with the introduction and discuss the theoretical background of neutrino oscillations and some experiments, which are working to detect the properties of neutrinos. Then the fundamentals of neutrino oscillations and their interactions were described. Since there are multiple sources of neutrinos, we have described the three sectors through which we can expect neutrinos to be produced. These are the atmospheric, solar, and reactor sectors. A brief section on the important milestones in neutrino oscillations is included because of the experiments and what they use to detect neutrino properties.
