Abstract

This study discusses about opinion and analysis of information service program in library using online method, (a case study of information service using Ipusnas Imobile Application). Qualitative descriptive approach was used in this study, and observation to iPusnas application directly was conducted for data gathering. We tried to answer how online library information service using iPusnas application was utilized, how the process flow of information service is, and what advantage and disadvantage iPusnas application has as our research problems. We found that this application is applicable to all people in general, whether they are old, young or have little capability in using the application as long as they have understood information technology. Moreover, this application can encourage millennial generation’s reading interest as they spend most of their time in using information technology devices. This application is still in startup form and need to be developed more in its loading process, features, book collection, and bug improvement to support digital library.

Abstract

Perilaku pencarian informasi (information seeking behaviour) merupakan perilaku pencarian tingkat mikro, yang ditunjukkan seseorang ketika berinteraksi dengan semua jenis sistem informasi. Pencarian informasi sangat dipengaruhi oleh kebutuhan informasi yang diinginkan oleh pengguna, semakin tinggi kebutuhan terhadap informasi yang diinginkannya, maka semakin tinggi pula pencarian informasi yang dilakukan oleh pengguna perpustakaan. Hal ini didukung oleh kebutuhan aktulisasi diri (dalam hal ini informasi). Di dunia akademik, guru besar atau profesor adalah jabatan tertinggi bagi dosen yang mengajar di sebuah perguruan tinggi. Orang-orang yang menyandang gelar profesor merupakan orang yang luar biasa dan dengan usaha yang luar biasa pula yang dapat menyandang gelar tersebut. Para guru besar dituntut melakukan kajian-kajian maupun penelitian di bidang spesialisasi yang mereka ambil. Oleh karena itu, mereka memerlukan akses terhadap informasi-informasi terkini dan pengetahuan-pengetahuan terbaru di bidang keahlian mereka ataupun bidang lain yang berkaitan dengannya. Informasi tersebut dapat diakses secara manual maupun online. Namun tidak semua guru besar dapat menelusur informasi yang dibutuhkannya, apalagi kalau informasi tersebut harus ditelusur secara online atau database. Oleh karena itu, tentu diperlukan strategi dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasi mereka tersebut.

Abstract

This paper discusses the role of e-resource strategic libraries of universities in supporting the accreditation of study programs. The existence of a library is very influential for the success of the learning process in various levels of education ranging from elementary school to college. A library is a heart of a college. Therefore, the library must provide quality information resources in accordance with the expectations of academic community. One of some resources that has a strategic role in supporting the accreditation of study program is an e-resource. There are various types of e-resources that can be developed by the library of e-journals, e-books, full script databases, index databases, and so forth. All of them have a very strategic position in supporting accreditation of study programs. There is a standard library that will be assessed by the assessor team.

Abstract

This article is a theoretical study of the concept of benchmarking in library management to improve the quality of services and functions. The formulation of the problems raised is how the concept of benchmarking is and how its application to the existence and implementation of the functions of library institutions are. The method of writing in this article is to describe the concepts of benchmarking and then put the library activities on the concepts found. Benchmarking can and will be implemented in a library as a form of library development in a dynamic and sustainable way. Benchmarking done at this time tend to be external and functional. A library will apply benchmarking if its management system led to a total quality management system. It means that the empowerment of an organizations resources is developed maximally, professionally and proportionally. A library tends to benchmark, if it had a strategic planning to increase satisfaction both morally and materially.

Abstract

Library promotion is a must for the information marketing. Even more if the library has new service such as bookless library service in the library of IAIN Purwokerto. This research uses qualitative research aproach, and the data accumulating tecnique is by using observation, interview and documentation. The result of this research is there are so many users who didn’t know about bookless library service in IAIN Purwokerto. It can be concluded that promotion media of library services should be using various kind of promtion media. after the user got the explanation, they knew and agreed that the bookless service in the library is useful in helping their study in IAIN purwokerto, and this user perception got apreciation from the head of IAIN Purwokerto Library. Users sugested that the promotion media that will be used, such as; broadside of bookless service user manual, throuh the explanation about the importance of bookless service from student cordinators to every class room, and more guidance banners in the library. This research needs the subsequence studies to develop the other media and it’s evaluation.

Abstract

Teaching and learning activities take place both in either a classroom with a lecturer or outside of classroom such as at home and library to achieving educational goals. In the process of teaching and learning in the campus lecturers are required to perform optimally the curriculum that has been set in the form of syllabus. One of the components contained in the syllabus is teaching methods as well as the means and resources of the lessons that will be given to the students, who have an important role in implementing the learning process to achieve the set goals. Library has an important role in supporting the learning materials required by students and support the smooth teaching and learning process so that the goals set can be achieved. The attainment of this goal for the personal development of students educates themselves on an ongoing basis to solve problems and enhance social attitudes. The existence of UPT Library at the University of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu is very important because teaching and learning activities are generally limited and incomplete and often is a new supporter for the development of student lessons. So clearly the essence of UPT UMB library is the center of learning resources and information sources. From the observation, many students of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu were still very rarely visit the library, and they had lack of interest in reading. Based on these problems, the writer was interested in raising the title "Intensity of Library Exposure to Students Learning Outcomes (Case Study of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu). The formulation of the problem was how the Intensity Relationship Utilization UPT Library University of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu and how the results of student learning University of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. Abstract

The effect of vandalism was the loss of the beauty of the book, damaged of paper, the loss of the information of the book thus reducing the comfort of reading. The problems of this study were (1) what is the causes of vandalism collection, (2) what is the weaknesses of librarian and staff so the occurrence of vandalism collection, (3) what is the solution to avoid of vandalism. The method of this study was descriptive qualitative. The populations of this study were the circulation collection at the second floor from 000 classifications (public in general) to 900 classifications (history and geography) that had vandalism by the librarian. Data collection of this study divided into two aspects, (a) primer data, (b) secondary data). The result of this study was for public in general (000) there was 1.700 copies (31.75) had vandalism with the type of the book crossed out, highlighter, torn, and underline. Philosophy of collection (100) that vandalism was 61 copied (1.65). Religion collection (200) 171 copies indicated vandalism. Social science (300) 68 copies indicated vandalism (0.3). Linguistics (400) 108 copies indicated vandalism (2.74). Pure Science (500) indicated vandalism 68 copies (0.71%). Collection of applied sciences (600) indicated vandalism 178 copied (0.999%). Art and sport (700) indicated vandalism 7 copies (0.379). Literature (800) indicated vandalism 141 copies (3.484%). History and Geography (900) indicated vandalism 141 copies (3.484%). The causes of vandalism collection, such as: Peer influence, parents often gives bad example to their children like throwing the trash out of place. Mass Media, the attitude of not taking care of the community to the act vandalism, lack of supervision of staff or librarians against the user/visitor.

Abstract

IAIN Bengkulu Library Center as a supporting partner of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi every year has a work program or activity either directly or indirectly in providing guidance to the scalper pemustaka especially new students to introduce and direct the pemustaka to be able to recognize and use the facilities and information that has been provided in IAIN Bengkulu Library Center well, effectively, efficiently, orderly and independently. The effectiveness of librarian guidance done by librarian of IAIN Bengkulu Library Center from some description of the answer from informant IAIN Bengkulu informant and direct observation writer that guidance pemustaka contribute effectively to provide understanding and direction about utilization of library resources and able to minimize violations such as destruct the composition of book On the shelves, late return of books and create an orderly library, discipline in accessing information in the library

In the preparation of an effective research proposal in library and information science, a researcher needs to have a proposal writing strategy, and to understand of the ethical issues of research either through qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods. Therefore, this paper aims to provide a guidance for a researcher about writing strategies that includes nine key elements of the arguments, the research proposal outlines, the effectively research proposal writing stages, and the ethical issues during the research. The ability of a researcher to choose a strategy, and to understand the ethical issues of research is very important. Its will determine the quality of research outputs

Abstract

This article is intended to see the future existence of the institution of information center and library as an institution that will continue to exist even if the information could be found by the community easily through the development of information and communication technology. In the present, people can access information through any approach in the worlds information network known as the internet. Moreover, if in the future the ability of people to choose the type of information needed better. Therefore it becomes a matter as how the prospect of information center and library in the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). By exploring the Information Science and Library as a fundamental branch of science, both seen from ontology, epistemology, and axiology is expected to know the basics of the prospects of information centers and libraries. The things that the information center and library should do will be seen through this assessment so that it will provide very useful inputs.
