Abstract

Global transformation requires educational institutions to continuously adapt and improve their competitiveness. One of the strategic factors in building institutional competitiveness is the quality of teachers as the spearhead of the educational process. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study show that teacher quality is the most dominant factor in building the competitiveness of educational institutions at MTs Nahdlatul Muslimin Undaan Kudus. In the context of Undaan Subdistrict, Kudus Regency, there are at least five secondary educational institutions competing with each other to attract public interest. The improving of quality teachers at MTs Nahdlatul Muslimin was carried out through three main strategies: (1) improving academic qualifications through master's degree scholarships, (2) conducting regular seminars and training as a form of continuing education, and (3) providing compensation and appropriate rewards for outstanding teachers. These three strategies contribute significantly to improving teachers' pedagogical, professional, social, and personal competencies. Improving teacher quality has a direct impact on the quality of learning, student achievement, and the reputation of the institution in Undaan.

Abstract

This experimental study investigates the combined effects of autonomy-based learning environments and critical thinking skills training on language performance and intrinsic motivation among EFL students. A 2×2 factorial design was employed with 120 second-year students from the Department of English Language, College of Education, Salahaddin University-Erbil, randomly assigned to four groups: autonomy support only, critical thinking training only, combined intervention, and traditional instruction control group. Data were collected through standardized language proficiency tests and intrinsic motivation scales over a 16-week intervention period during the 2024-2025 academic year. Statistical analyses including two-way ANOVA revealed significant main effects for both autonomy support and critical thinking training, with the combined intervention group demonstrating the highest gains in language performance and intrinsic motivation. Results suggest that integrating learner autonomy support with explicit critical thinking instruction creates synergistic effects that substantially enhance EFL learning outcomes beyond either approach implemented independently.

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of discovery learning strategy on academic achievement among eleventh-grade literary students in Principles of Philosophy. The researcher employed a quasi-experimental design with two equivalent groups consisting of 62 students purposefully selected from Shanaz Preparatory School for Girls during the 2024-2025 academic year. The sample was randomly divided into an experimental group (n=31) taught using discovery learning strategy and a control group (n=31) receiving traditional instruction. After verifying group equivalence across six variables, the researcher covered the second unit of the curriculum, comprising three chapters: Epistemology and Theory of Knowledge, Metaphysics and Reality, and Philosophy of Mind. To achieve research objectives, the researcher developed 30 detailed lesson plans for each group and constructed an achievement test consisting of 35 items in its final form, distributed across Bloom's cognitive levels (Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyze). After establishing validity (CVI=0.91) and reliability (α=0.86), data were analyzed using independent samples t-test. Results revealed statistically significant differences favoring the experimental group on the achievement test (t=5.874, p<0.001, η²=0.36). Based on these findings, the researcher proposed several recommendations and suggestions for future research.

Abstract

In an increasingly competitive digital environment, start-ups face substantial challenges in achieving sustainable growth while establishing strong market positions. Drawing on market orientation theory, digital branding, and relationship marketing, this study investigates the direct and indirect effects of market orientation and digital branding on start-up growth, with brand trust acting as a mediating variable. A quantitative research design was employed using survey data collected from 100 start-up owners and marketing managers operating in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The proposed research model was tested using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), which is appropriate for predictive models involving latent constructs and mediation effects. The findings reveal that both market orientation and digital branding exert significant positive effects on start-up growth. Digital branding demonstrates the strongest influence on brand trust, highlighting the critical role of consistent and interactive digital brand engagement in fostering consumer confidence. Brand trust, in turn, significantly enhances start-up growth and partially mediates the relationships between market orientation and growth, as well as between digital branding and growth. The results confirm that while strategic orientations directly contribute to growth outcomes, their impact is substantially strengthened through the psychological mechanism of brand trust. This study contributes to the digital marketing and entrepreneurship literature by providing empirical evidence on the mediating role of brand trust within an integrated PLS-SEM framework. From a managerial perspective, the findings emphasize the importance for start-ups to align market-driven strategies with coherent digital branding efforts to build trust and accelerate growth in digitally competitive markets.

Abstract

Digital transformation has become a strategic priority for higher education institutions in Indonesia in responding to technological disruption, stakeholder expectations, and institutional competitiveness. However, many universities continue to face challenges in aligning digital initiatives with organizational strategy and adaptive IT governance. This study examines how Service Planning and Architecture Strategy contribute to institutional digital transformation through an Agile IT Governance framework in the Indonesian higher education context. This study uses a single-case study at Manado State University. A qualitative approach using SWOT analysis, IFAS–EFAS evaluation, and portfolio mapping through the McFarlan Strategic Grid. Data were collected through interviews with 12 institutional stakeholders, including university leaders, IT managers, quality assurance representatives, and digital service users, supported by analysis of institutional strategic documents such as IT master plans, governance policies, and digital transformation reports collected between January and June 2025. An IFAS score of 1.4 and an EFAS score of 0.2 position the university in Quadrant I, indicating strong internal capability to pursue an aggressive transformation strategy despite moderate external pressures. Internal strengths include the existence of standardized IT Service Management practices and consistent quality management implementation. However, structural limitations are identified in the absence of formal enterprise architecture standards and the lack of an integrated IT service catalog system. Portfolio mapping shows that 7 out of 9 digital initiatives are concentrated within the Strategic and Key Operational quadrants, confirming IT’s transition from a support function to a value-driving institutional asset. The study concludes that digital transformation in Indonesian universities is significantly enabled by mature service planning but requires strengthened architectural standardization and governance integration to ensure long-term sustainability. Findings indicate strong internal capabilities in IT service management and digital service quality, supporting proactive transformation initiatives. Nonetheless, gaps in enterprise architecture standards and service catalog management pose structural risks to long-term continuity. Portfolio mapping reveals a concentration of initiatives within Strategic and Key Operational domains, signaling the evolving role of IT from operational support to institutional value driver. The study concludes that effective digital transformation in Indonesian universities depends on the alignment of service planning, architecture strategy, and agile governance mechanisms to sustain organizational resilience and strategic adaptability.

Abstract

The current findings are based on the importance of educational financial management in supporting quality improvement, operational efficiency, and equitable educational services. Although the government has allocated an education budget in accordance with the 1945 Constitution and the National Education System Law, the reality on the ground shows a disparity in funding between urban and suburban schools. SMA Negeri 13 Medan, as a more established school with greater access to funds, faces issues of transparency and accountability in the use of funds. Meanwhile, SMA Negeri 1 Deli Tua faces challenges of limited funds and the need for a more optimal management strategy in allocating budgets to meet learning and school operational needs. This study uses a qualitative approach with a multisite design, covering analysis of planning, implementation, organization, supervision of funding, as well as obstacles and efforts to resolve them. Interviews were conducted with school principals, teachers, and school committee members at each school. The results of the study reveal that the implementation of education financing at SMA Negeri 13 Medan and SMA Negeri 1 Deli Tua has been carried out in accordance with the principles of good financial management in education. Both schools demonstrated compliance with the technical guidelines for the School Operational Assistance and the School Financial Management Plan, regular reporting, and public transparency through the School Operational Assistance information board and accountability meetings. Both schools have successfully implemented the principles of good school financial management consistently, thereby having a direct impact on improving the quality of educational services. This study recommends policies to improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the management of education funds. In addition, the findings of this study contribute to strengthening the literature on education financing management, particularly at the public high school level, and support efforts to equalize the quality of education in Indonesia through strengthening school financial management.

Abstract

The problem of pedagogical and professional competence of elementary school teachers is still high and the use of learning data is ineffective. The urgency of this research is because teachers are data-based decision makers, while the practice of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in elementary schools is still administrative and lacks real impact. The novelty is the development of a data-based teacher personal knowledge governance model integrated with the Intelligent Triangulation System (ITS), which combines student learning outcome data, learning observations and teacher reflections in a single decision-making framework. The objectives are to analyse the initial condition of teacher competence, develop and implement the model, test its effectiveness, and compile a continuous evaluation protocol. The research approach is a mixed method with a quantitative quasi-experimental design. The research sample consisted of 37 elementary school teachers, 37 students, 3 principals, and 3 supervisors. Data collection techniques include pre-test, post-test, observation, interviews, documentation and ITS usage logs. Data analysis was carried out descriptively, inferentially (paired sample t-test) and triangulation. The results showed an increase in pedagogical competence by 13.85% and professional competence by 14.65% (p<0.05), as well as an increase in student literacy by 13.40% and numeracy by 14.15%. The research findings indicate that the data-driven model is effective in building reflective practices and objective decision-making. In conclusion, the data-driven teacher knowledge governance model with ITS has proven effective, systematic, and sustainable in improving competence. The limitations of the study are that the trial was only conducted in a limited location and there was no control group.

Abstract

Understanding the physiological determinants of physical performance in athletes with disabilities is essential for optimizing training programs and enhancing competitive outcomes in adaptive sports. Vital capacity and aerobic work capacity represent key indicators of functional fitness, yet their relationship remains under-investigated in volleyball players with disabilities. This study aimed to examine the relationship between vital capacity (VC) and physical efficiency index (W170) among young volleyball players with disabilities, and to determine whether VC can predict physical work capacity in this population. Nine young male volleyball players with disabilities (mean age: 21.3 ± 2.1 years) participated in this descriptive correlational study. Participants presented with various lower extremity disabilities including hemiplegia, below-knee amputations, below-ankle amputation, poliomyelitis, and bilateral foot drop. Participants were engaged in a structured volleyball training program consisting of two-hour sessions conducted twice monthly. Vital capacity was measured using standardized spirometry, while the W170 test was administered via submaximal cycle ergometry to assess physical work capacity. Pearson correlation analysis and simple linear regression were employed to examine relationships between variables. Comparative analyses across disability classifications were conducted using one-way ANOVA. A strong, statistically significant positive correlation was found between vital capacity and W170 (r = 0.785, p < 0.01), with VC explaining 61.6% of the variance in physical work capacity (R² = 0.616). The regression equation (W170 = -47.82 + 48.35 × VC) was statistically significant (F = 38.12, p < 0.001), indicating that each one-liter increase in vital capacity predicted approximately a 48-watt increase in W170. The sample consisted of athletes with hemiplegia (33.3%), below-knee amputations (44.4%), and other lower extremity impairments. Training experience correlated positively with both VC (r = 0.518, p < 0.05) and W170 (r = 0.638, p < 0.05), suggesting chronic adaptations despite low training frequency. Vital capacity is a significant predictor of physical work capacity in young volleyball players with disabilities, with implications for performance assessment, talent identification, and training prescription in adaptive sports. The findings support the integration of respiratory function training into conditioning programs for athletes with disabilities. Future research should investigate the effects of increased training frequency and targeted respiratory interventions on both physiological and performance outcomes in larger, more diverse samples.
