Jurnal Dinamika Vokasional Teknik Mesin (JDVTM) is published by the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Yogyakarta. The journal is published twice a year in April and October. Each publication contains articles comprising high quality theoretical and empirical original research papers, review papers, and literature reviews. The scope of study of this journal includes mechanical engineering education, technology and vocational education, learning and curriculum development, learning method development, and learning media. All of the fields study, particularly in mechanical engineering vocational and education. The articles submitted should be attended to the particular topics above.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the feasibility of e-module for discovery learning users' responses to the use of the e-module. This development research follows the development stages of the ADDIE model. Likert scale with four variations of answers was used. Research data were analyzed using a quantitative-descriptive analysis. The result shows that the use of an e-module for discovery learning has met the criteria of feasibility within the "very good" category, in terms of content material, learning media, and users' responses. The research findings shows the following results: the assessment of the e-module by the content material experts was in the category of "very good" with a 95 feasibility percentage; the assessment by the media experts was in the category of "very good" with an 82.86 feasibility percentage; teachers' and students' responses to the e-module were in the category of "very good" with 84.38 and 81.67 feasibility percentages, respectively.Tujuan penelitian secara umum adalah mengembangkan e-modul untuk discovery learning pada materi tegangan dan poros, dan tujuan khususnya adalah untuk mengetahui kelayakan e-modul untuk discovery learning dan respon penggunanya. Penelitian pengembangan ini mengikuti model ADDIE. Skala Likert dengan empat variasi jawaban digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan produk e-modul untuk discovery learning pada materi tegangan dan poros telah memenuhi kriteria kelayakan dari segi materi, media maupun dari respon pengguna dengan kategori "sangat baik". Data penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ahli materi diperoleh penilaian e-modul dengan kategori "sangat baik" dengan persentase kelayakan sebesar 95%, dari ahli media diperoleh penilaian dengan kategori "sangat baik "dengan persentase kelayakan sebesar 82,86%. Di samping itu, respon pengguna terhadap e-modul dalam hal ini guru dan siswa diperoleh kategori "sangat baik" dengan persentase kelayakan masing-masing adalah 84,38% dan 81,67%

Abstract

Crucible furnace for metal casting practice is needed by Vocational High School since their graduated students should possess competence in casting field. A prototype of a mini compact crucible furnace is built as an effort to fulfill the needed of an appropriate furnace. It is a sustained development of previous works. This furnace is developed using Research and development method. The prototype of a mini compact crucible furnace that has been succeeded developed has a dimension of (330x330x750) mm and 46 kg of total weight. The furnace can be made from the used drum with heat isolator combining of ceramic blanket D.96 and castable TNC-17. It is able to melt 3 kg of aluminum and achieve 660 0C in 50 minutes with LPG consumption of 1,76 kg. The outside temperature of the furnace is in the safety limit while it is operated. However, the prototype of a mini compact crucible furnace needs further development to improve its performance and heat efficiency.Tungku krusibel untuk praktik pengecoran logam dibutuhkan oleh Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan karena lulusannya harus memiliki komptensi dibidang pengecoran. Sebuah prototipe tungku krusibel mini dibuat sebagai upaya untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tungku yang sesuai. Ini merupakan pengembangan berkelanjutan dari tungku-tungku sebelumnya. Prototipe tungku krusibel kompak mini dikembangkan dengan metode Reserach and Development. Prototipe tungku krusibel kompak mini yang berhasil dibuat berdimensi (330x330x750) mm dengan bobot total 46 kg. Tungku dapat dibuat dari drum bekas dengan isolator panas kombinasi dari selimut keramik D.96 dan castable TNC-17. Prototipe tungku mampu melelehkan 3 kg aluminium dan mencapai suhu 660 0C dalam 50 menit dengan kebutuhan LPG 1,76 kg. Suhu dinding luar tungku masih dalam batas aman saat dioperasikan. Bagaimanapun, prototipe tungku krusibel kompak mini perlu dikembangkan lebih lanjut untuk memperbaiki kinerja dan efisiensi panasnya.

Abstract

The continuous increase of fuel consumption has caused fossil fuel shortages, rising its price tremendously. Transportation activities have the largest contribution to air pollution in the form of exhaust gas compared to other industrial activities. Various methods have been used to reduce the air pollution level as well as reducing fuel consumptions, one of which is the use of environmentally friendly fuel gas. The fuel gas is obtained from the electrolysis of water into oxy-hydrogen gas (HHO) as an additive in the fuel combustion process. The research methodology is experimental research which consists of designing and manufacturing of HHO, and field testing. In the planning and manufacturing stages, an HHO generator is produced, equipped with an input voltage regulator in order to produce the gas as needed, with shape and size adapted to the available space on the engine room. The testing stage was conducted on a 1781 cc engine, 2015 Toyota pick up truck which included laboratory test and on the road test. The results show that by activating the HHO generator, there is a reduction of CO and HC emissions, and also a reduction in fuel consumption when compared to the operation of the vehicle at the same load but without HHO generator.Meningkatnya konsumsi bahan bakar minyak secara terus menerus menyebabkan kelangkaan ketersediaan bahan fosil di alam, sehingga harganya menjadi mahal. Kegiatan transportasi menyumbangkan polusi udara dari hasil emisi gas buang kendaraan terbesar dibanding kegiatan industri lainnya. Oleh karena itu dilakukan berbagai cara untuk menurunkan tingkat polusi udara sekaligus menurunkan konsumsi bahan bakar minyak. Salah satunya adalah penggunaan gas bakar ramah lingkungan yang diperoleh dari elektrolisis air gas oksihidrogen (HHO) sebagai bahan tambah dalam proses pembakaran bahan bakar. Metodologi penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental yang terdiri atas perancangan dan pembuatan generator HHO serta pengujian lapangan.  Pada tahap perancangan dan pembuatan dibuat generator gas HHO yang dilengkapi dengan pengatur tegangan input agar menghasilkan gas sesuai kebutuhan, dengan bentuk dan ukuran yang disesuaikan dengan tempat yang tersedia pada ruang mesin. Sedangkan pengujian dilakukan pada Mobil Toyota Kijang Pick Up 1781cc pembuatan tahun 2005 yang meliputi uji laboratorium dan uji jalan di jalan raya.  Hasil yang diperoleh bahwa dengan mengaktifkan generator HHO, terjadi penurunan emisi CO dan HC serta penurunan konsumsi bahan bakar pada beban yang sama, dibandingkan jika kendaraan dioperasikan tanpa generator HHO

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of family environment factors, industry practice experience, and entrepreneurial knowledge on Vocational High Schools (VHS) students' entrepreneurship readiness in Yogyakarta. From a total population of 1095 students,300 were selected as samples using the proportional random sampling technique by means of the Krejcie and Morgan formula. The data were collected through inventories, observation sheets, and documents. The content validity was assessed through expert judgment. The construct validity was assessed using the factor analysis and the reliability using the Cronbach's Alpha formula. The data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis, regression analysis, and path analysis at a significance level of 0.05. The results show that: (1) there is a positive and significant influence of family environment, industry practice experience, and entrepreneurial knowledge on VHSs students' entrepreneurial readiness; and (2) family environment factors, industry practice experience, and entrepreneurial knowledge have a significant influence both directly and indirectly in determining the entrepreneurship readiness of VHS students.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor lingkungan keluarga, pengalaman praktik industri, dan pengetahuan kewirausahaan terhadap kesiapan berwirausaha siswa SMK di DIY.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasional yang bersifat ex-post facto. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 1095 orang siswa. Jumlah sampel penelitian pada taraf kesalahan 5% sebanyak 300 siswa ditentukan dengan formula Krejcie dan Morgan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik proportional random sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan inventori, lembar pengamatan dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan lingkungan keluarga, pengalaman praktik industri, dan pengetahuan kewirausahaan terhadap kesiapan berwirausaha siswa SMK. Disamping itu, faktor lingkungan keluarga, pengalaman praktik industri, dan pengetahuan kewirausahaan memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung dalam menentukan kesiapan berwirausaha siswa SMK

Abstract

The purpose of this research and development are to plan a workshop layout, a program for practical works and to identify the inhibiting and supporting factors in the implementation stage. The development model used uses Analysis, Design, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subject of the research and development are teachers and technicians working in Metal Fabrication Workshops.  The data were collected using observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study are metal fabrication workshop layouts, practical work program, and identification of the inhibiting and supporting factors in the research and development.Tujuan penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah menghasilkan layout bengkel, program praktik dan identifikasi faktor penghambat, pendukung. Model pengembangan menggunakan Analisis, Desain, Implementasi dan Evaluasi. Subjek pada penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah Guru dan Teknisi Bengkel Teknik Fabrikasi Logam. Abstract

This research aims to reveal the extent of pedagogical-competence of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta's students as prospective vocational teachers. It will serve as a measure of their readiness to become vocational teachers. The research method was a quantitative approach with a descriptive method to present the pedagogical-competence profile of the students from each study program. The research population was students from several educational study programs, namely Electronics, Mechanical, and Automotive. Samples of 175 students were taken from each study program's class. The pedagogical competence was evaluated using test questions which instruments have been validated by experts. The result shows that the average competence is 50,24. To breakdown this finding, the averages of pedagogical-competence are 44,71 and 50,60 for students in the 3rd and 5th semester, respectively. The comparison data for the averages of the 3rd to 5th-semester students in each study programs are as follows: Electronics are 54,80 to 46,45; Mechanical are 50, 24 and 54,91; and Automotive are 24,18 to 50,72Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap seberapa jauh kompetensi pedagogik mahasiswa calon guru teknik di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta sebagai ukuran kesiapan mereka untuk menjadi guru kejuruan. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kuantatif dengen metode deskriptif untuk menunjukkan profil kompetensi pedagogi dari mahasiswa dari masing-masing program studi. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa Prodi PT. Elektronika, PT. Mesin, dan PT. Otomotif. Sampel diambil masing-masing prodi satu kelas yang berjumlah 175 mahasiswa. Kompetensi pedagogik diukur melalui tes dengan instrumen soal yang telah divalidasi oleh ahli. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata 50,24. Secara rinci rerata mahasiswa semester 3: 44, 71 dan semester 5: 50,60. Prodi Elektronika rerata kompetensi pedagogi mahasiswa semester 3: 54,80 dan semester 5: 46,45; Mahasiswa Prodi PT Mesin, rerata skor semester 3: 50, 24 dan semester 5: 54,91; Mahasiswa Prodi PT Otomotif semester 3: 24,18 dan Semester 5: 50,72

Abstract

Collaborative and sustainable actions carried out by a group of teachers/lecturers through lesson study with an information and communication technologies approach can meet the needs of the world of education in era 4.0. This study aims to analyze the impact of the application of lesson study in learning activities on the technical measurement on mechanical engineering students of the Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa. The research method uses lesson research with a qualitative approach. The applied lesson study model adopts Saito et al. (2005), in which its implementation consists of 2 cycles, each cycle includes the stages of the plan, do, and see. The learning media used are a digital book, e-learning using Edmodo, Toyota 7k engine stand, handphone, cylinder block, clutch, differential, dial gauge, cylinder gauge, vernier caliper, and micrometer. The sample selected amounted to 30 students and involved two observers in each cycle. The results of this study indicate that the essence of lesson study has an impact on increasing student activity by 40% in cycle 1 and 34%  in cycle 2. The lesson study also has an effect on improving the quality of the lecturer's evaluation on the students' learning outcomesTindakan kolaboratif dan berkelanjutan yang dilakukan sekelompok guru/dosen melalui lesson study dengan pendekatan information and communication technologies dapat memenuhi kebutuhan dunia pendidikan di era 4.0. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak penerapan lesson study dalam kegiatan pembelajaran pengukuran teknik pada mahasiswa pendidikan teknik mesin Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa. Metode penelitian menggunakan lesson research dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Model lesson study yang diterapkan mengadopsi dari Saito dkk (2005), dimana dalam pelaksanaannya terdiri dari 2 siklus dengan tahapan tiap siklusnya meliputi plan, do, dan see. Media pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah digital book, e-learning melalui edmodo, engine stand toyota 7k, handphone, blok silinder, kopling, gardan, dial gauge, cylinder gauge vernier celiper dan mikrometer. Sampel yang dipilih berjumlah 30 mahasiswa dengan melibatkan 2 observer pada tiap siklusnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa esensi lesson study berdampak pada peningkatan keaktifan siswa sebesar 40% pada siklus 1 dan meningkat 34% pada siklus 2, selain itu berdampak pada peningkatan kualitas evaluasi dosen terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa

Abstract

The purpose of the learning media development is to produce multimedia from internet sources that are feasible to be applied in Welding Inspection learning. The methods used wasR&D (research and development). The development of multimedia products was carried out by collecting videos and handbooks on the welding process and inspections on the internet. The results of the developed multimedia on welding Inspections are Powerpoint Presentation equipped with videos with learning materials content of a) welding procedures, b) heat input and welding distortion, c) destructive testing, and d) non-destructive testing. The feasibility test validated that the multimedia is feasible for the learning process. The limited test on the students shows that multimedia is acceptable for the learning process in the Welding Inspection course.Pengembangan media pembelajaran ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan multimedia dari sumber internet yang layak diterapkan pada pembelajaran Pengujian Las. Metode yang digunakan adalah R & D (research and development). Pengembangan produk multimedia dilakukan dengan menelusuri video dan hand book tentang proses dan inspeksi pengujian las yang ada di internet. Hasil pengembangan multimedia Pengujian Las adalah berupa power point yang dilengkapi video dengan materi: a) prosedur pengelasan, b) heat input dan distorsi pengelasan, c) pengujian destruktif, d) pengujian non destruktif. Uji kelayakan multimedia menyatakan multimedia layak diterapkan untuk pembelajaran. Hasil uji terbatas mahasiswa menyatakan multimedia dapat diterima untuk pembelajaran mata kuliah Pengujian Las.

Abstract

Purpose of this research is to find out how the influence of variation of bentonite composition on the sand mold to casting defect, hardness, and microstructure. Variations of bentonite composition used were 0%, 8%, and 16%. The data of the research were analyzed directly using graphs and micro photographs which were then drawn conclusions from the results of the study. Needle-hole defects are found in all variations of bentonite composition. The porosity defect was found only in the variation of 0% and 16% bentonite compositions. The highest hardness value was obtained from the 8% bentonite composition variation is 84.26 VHN and the lowest hardness value was obtained from 0% VHN bentonite composition variation is 68.02 VHN. The best microstructure is indicated by the variation of 8% bentonite composition as evidenced by the formation of Al and Si elements that are evenly distributed and closer to the grain.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh variasi komposisi bentonit pada cetakan pasir terhadap cacat coran, kekerasan dan struktur mikro. Variasi komposisi bentonit yang digunakan adalah 0%, 8% dan 16%. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis secara langsung menggunakan grafik dan foto mikro yang kemudian  ditarik  kesimpulan  dari  hasil  penelitian  tersebut.  Cacat lubang jarum ditemukan di semua variasi komposisi bentonit. Sedangkan cacat porositas hanya ditemukan pada variasi komposisi bentonit 0% dan 16. nilai kekerasan tertinggi diperoleh dari variasi komposisi bentonit 8% sebesar 84.26 VHN dan nilai kekerasan terendah diperoleh dari variasi komposisi bentonit 0% sebesar 68.02 VHN. Struktur mikro terbaik ditunjukkan oleh variasi komposisi bentonit 8% dibuktikan dengan pembentukan unsur Al dan Si yang merata dan lebih merapat letak antar butirnya.

Abstract

This research was initiated from the fact that Tamansiswa Institute, founded even before the Indonesian Independence, up until today, its condition does not improve significantly. Some of the former schools were shut down due to lack of students. This research was carried out in SMK TKM Tamansiswa Purworejo. Data were collected using interviews and documentation. The research subjects were school headmasters, focusing on their job descriptions. The research aims to describe the implementation of curriculum management in SMK TKM Tamansiswa Purworejo so far. This is qualitative research with a qualitative-descriptive data analysis. The interpretation in this research was based on the subjects' mindset and implementation in performing their job based on managerial principles.Penelitian ini diawali dari keadaan sekolah Tamansiswa yang didirikan sejak Indonesia belum merdeka hingga saat ini kondisinya belum ada kemajuan yang signifikan. Bahkan dari sekolah yang pernah ada, pada saat ini banyak yang ditutup karena kekurangan peserta didik. Penelitian dilakukan di SMK TKM Tamansiswa Purworejo. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah kepala sekolah dalam melaksanakan tugas dan kewajibannya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan manajemen kurikulum yang diselenggarakan SMK TKM Tamansiswa Purworejo selama ini. Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian kualitatif dengan analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Interpretasi pada penelitian ini mengacu pada pola pikir dan pelaksanaan subjek dalam menjalankan pekerjaan berdasarkan prinsip-prinsip manajemen.
