Abstract

Teachers are educational staff who have the main duty to educate, teach, train, and guide students to have readiness to face increasingly fierce global competition with other nations. Hence, the position of teachers as professionals is urgently important in the realization of the vision and mission of learning especially in the educational aspect where the teachers can fulfill their duties. Teachers require particular attention from the government and society, ultimately the government regulates the improvement of the quality of teachers or teachers nationally through Law No. 20 of 2003 on National Education System. The “TPA” (Teacher Performance Assessment) system is still implemented conventionally which gives tremendous influence on teacher professionalism. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of SAT applications (Self-Assessment Teacher) to improve the teachers’ professionalism. This research uses quantitative methodology with independent t test using control class and experiment class as research samples. The result of this research revealed that a computer based SAT (Self-Assessment Teacher) application containing component of assessment which are personality competence, pedagogic competence, professional competence, social competence and result of assessment recap could maximally increase professionalism of teachers. The results indicated that the application was utilized effectively in improving the professionalism of teachers. In the application effectiveness test, it is known that the average value obtained by the experimental class is 82,9178, and that average value is higher than the control class 61,6363. This application is designed using the Dephi programming language and MySql database. The results of the teacher's performance appraisal can be viewed directly by the assessor and also the teacher with the login their user name and password in order to know the value of each competitor and the follow-up, and also the overall “TPA” recap value to the value used for the teacher's “PAK” (Credit Score Assessment).

Abstract

The stimulus in this study is to reduce dependence on natural resources, in this case timber, and preserve it from extinction. It is based on comparison between high utilization rate and imbalance with its availability. Field observations indicate that large utilization of wood is for making as a board. The condition raises motivation to find alternative creation of boards from non-timber materials, in this case urban waste. Various ideas, thoughts and applications are experimented to get best methods to produce board products from municipal waste as per required and feasible qualifications. After several stages of research and experimentation, a method called vertical cross configuration was obtained. In some advanced applications, this configuration has been able to help produce a strong, sturdy, and aesthetic board products.The following study directs systematic thinking of identifying multi-disciplinary collaboration, in this case technology and aesthetics, on creation activities of vertical cross-configuration through utilization of municipal waste as raw materials. The discussion covers definition of vertical cross-configuration, discipline of science involved, interdisciplinary collaboration, resulting product and its utilization opportunities. Understanding of this study is expected to encourage people involved in the production process and application of aesthetic board utilization to take an active role in environmental conservation in a wider scope.

Abstract

Art is one of medium for children to play, with their surroundings with imagination. Art is also a medium of understanding, to help children understand the concepts that are not yet known. with various arguments began to realize the importance of the arts for children, but they do not understand what they need to support his artistic abilities. Artwork created by children classified as special. That is because the children's artwork there are values which constitute the essence and the nature of art itself. From children's artwork, can be taken the science that is important for human beings, namely regarding the personal creative who is not afraid to experiment because the child doesn't pay attention to the existence of factors which often become a problem for adults.

Abstract

Theme is one of the crucial elements of a novel structure because it describes the message conveyed by the author. The description of the theme is closely related to the language used by the author. The readers’ understanding on the theme strogly depends on the language used as a means of delivering messages to the readers. The modern Javanese novels of the post-reform era are assumed to use the Javanese language.

Abstract

This study attempts at exploring a philosophical-pedagogical value (message moral). The image is basically the expression of personal feelings which can be an attempt to convey basic and useful information for the society and the preservation of art and culture in Indonesia. Indonesia concerns the diversity and local wisdom values (just say the Javanese society which characteristically classified into its high culture ‘adiluhung’). The transmission of information realized through values, especially to the current society is perceived declining, thus the effort to maintain a prudent value system can be done in various ways. One of the ways in this study is its delivery with the image media. Images in question such as picture signs, billboards, posters, banners, murals and so on. The pictures are now presented / displayed in various strategic places so that the community, especially the younger generation can read it at any time. The hope is that people can implement it in everyday life. To pragmatically reveal the value (moral message), this research is qualitative descriptive. The data sources are in the form of writing utterances on the image / ad. Data analysis techniques employed holistic criticism and pragmatic analysis. The results showed that the utterances contained in the media images / ads produces some meanings to the readers and implement them in the real life activities.

Abstract

Art gallery is one of fine arts infrastructures. Art galleries have important roles and functions in the modern arts development. It also distributes the artwork that is created by artists as the producer and presented to the public as the consumer. Surabaya is one of the big cities that became part of the modern art development. Moreover, the development of modern art is located in urban areas. It is also influenced by infrastructure and superstructure in synergy to form the social arts field. On the decade of 2000 in Surabaya, there are many new galleries that both established by individuals and private institutions. The appearance of the gallery certainly brings impact and influence on the art activities in Surabaya. It can be seen from the increase of exhibition activities that is organized by the gallery. The art gallery as a public space has the obligation to engage in artistic activity and foster the public's appreciation of cultural and commercial values of art.

Abstract

Painting becomes one of the media expressions and self-expression of artists in conveying and embedding every artistic idea. The realist painting of Chusin Setiadikara artistically exhibited in the National Gallery of Indonesia, certainly can not be released with the involvement of technology in the creative process. The use of cameras when processing the painting is a manifestation of the existence of technology covered in artwork before it is poured into the canvas. This paper aims to see the creative process in creating a realist painting by Setiadikara, and connect it with the role of technology in the process of creation, and to see the subject of creativity that appears and presented in the painting. In answering the problem, literature study is used to support the wealth of data in order to observe and answer the existing phenomenon. The results of this study indicate that Chusin Setiadikara not only talks about the realism form embodied in his work. He also alludes to the form of creative work that manifests in every work of his work. Camera used as Chusin as a vehicle to pour ideas/conceptual ideas that poured into the painting. Not only do the realities work, he also presents a new form of reality in his paintings.

Abstract

The film “Fack Ju, Göhte” is a comedy film produced in 2013, which could attract three million people in its first 17 day of screening, and regarded as the most successful film in Germany then. This film tells the story about an ex-convict, Zeki Müller, who disguises himself as areplacement teacher to obtain a hidden money stash in the building of Göthe Gesamtschule. However the ambience of the class and the students who Zeki teaches, garner sympathy for him from his students with teaching style people calls as “unique” at least and “maverick” at best. Zeki becomes the favourite teacher at his school and he manages to increase the school’s ranking in the town. This writting has a purpose to describe the idea of freedom in education field is potrayed in the film“Fack Ju, Göhte”. The method used is qualitative method with contain analysis, and data gathering technique used is literary study. The theory used are semiotics theory from C.S Peirce. The result of this research shows that the film “Fack Ju, Göhte” use this film as one of their education media, a new standpoint in portraying the education field which is the idea of freedom and self expression for the learners.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and explain the readability and feasibility of the text in the textbook of Indonesian subject for class X of senior high school in standard based curriculum (SBC) and curriculum 2013. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using fog index as a formulation to calculate the readability aspect. The data of this research are taken from Indonesian subject in standard based curriculum and 2013 curriculum. The data collection technique is taken using documentation. The research data validity is measured using source triangulation .The data were analyzed using interactive data analysis model. The results of the research are (1) the readability of the text books of Indonesian subject for class X of senior high school in standard based curriculum (SBC) is categorized as the readability that easy to understand (2) the readability of the text books of Indonesian subject for class X of senior high school in curriculum 2013 is categorized as the readability that easy to understand; (3) The differences appear not in term of readability. Instead, they are on  the number and types of the texts that are used;(4) the textbook of Indonesian subject for class X in senior high school in standard based curriculum (SBC) is feasible, because it contains various types of text, meaning that it concerns with science and knowledge gained by reader.

Abstract

Berita mengenai gelandangan jarang sekali muncul di media massa, khususnya media online. Saat muncul pun temanya selalu masuk kategori berita kriminal dengan tag kisah tragis, gelandangan tewas, Polres, rumah sakit, dan sejenisnya.Solopos.com selama tujuh bulan yakni Maret-Oktober 2017 hanya menampilkan enam berita mengenai gelandangan, tiga di antaranya tentang gelandangan tewas di jalan dan hutan, dua berita mengenai gelandangan yang melahirkan di jalan, dan satunya lagi mengenai razia gelandangan oleh Satpol PP. Tidak ada berita yang menampilkan kehidupan gelandangan sebagai  bagian dari komunitas perkotaan atau dari sudut pandang mereka.Meski gelandangan adalah fakta yang seharusnya bisa dimunculkan di media massa, namun berita sejatinya bukanlah sebuah fakta mentah. Berita merupakan rekonstruksi sederet peristiwa yang dilakukan wartawan. Tema mengenai gelandangan bagi media massa belum cukup memadai untuk diangkat menjadi sebuah berita lantaran minimnya nilai berita. Nilai berita ini berkaitan erat dengan tingkat keterbacaan di masyarakat.Media massa sejatinya adalah arena pertentangan kelas. Melalui berita, setiap kelas berusaha memenangkan wacana kelompoknya. Pandangan kritis melihat akses ke media lebih banyak dimanfaatkan kelompok dominan (kelompok pembaca) yang mendudukkan gelandangan sebagai entitas di luar kelompok masyarakat. Dengan demikian idiologi media massa seringkali merupakan ideologi dominan.Praktik ini menyebabkan wacana inferior milik para gelandangan tentang gagalnya negara memberikan jaminan keamanan dan kesejahteraan bagi warganya tidak terungkap, berganti menjadi teks yang memosisikan gelandangan sebagai entitas yang meresahkan komunitas kota sehingga harus dirazia.
