Abstract

Abstract: The present study is addressed to inform the problems experienced by students in statistical material, especially related to mean, median and mode. It is also attempted to find out alternative solutions to overcome the difficulties faced by students. The subjects in this study are 30 students at ninth grade of State Junior High School (SMPN) 1 Maluk who are selected purposively. The type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data are obtained from interviews results with two categories of difficulties, namely related to the understanding of concepts and the application of mean, median, and mode formulas. The difficulties faced by students are: (1) understanding the concepts of mean, median, and mode; (2) applying the formulas and solving problems related to mean, median and mode. The solution offered from this research is analyzing students’ difficulties in understanding mean, the number of data, and the amount of data. In deciding median, students do not pay attention to the provided data, whether it is sequential from the smallest to the largest. Meanwhile, in determining mode, students must understand that there will be three possibilities, namely, data may not have a mode, data only have one mode (single), and data have more than one mode. Keywords: Problematic, Statistics, Mean, Median, Mode.

Abstract

Abstract: In mathematics learning, communication and problem solving are very important goals. To obtain information about that, a good assessment method is needed in the form of rubrics in each test. According to Danielson (1997), it is more appropriate to use analytical rubrics because the information obtained about students' strengths and weaknesses is clearer. This study aims to describe the development process and obtain a valid, practical and effective analytical rubric. This development relies on the Plomp (2010) model while compiling the Danielson (1997) rubric theory. The trial subjects were 2 mathematics teachers and 33 VIII grade students. From the validation and testing, an analytical rubric was obtained consisting of 6 aspects and 2 sub-aspects. Weight 1 for the first and fifth aspects and weight 2 for the other aspects. Sub aspects of the rubric are accuracy and completeness. Every aspect and sub aspect has 4 levels. The results of this study are valid, practical and effective analytical rubrics. Validity is shown by the average score of all validators is 3.1. Practicality is shown by (1) the correlation coefficient between classes is 0.980, 0.990, and 0.991 and (2) the average score of all teachers is 3.44. The effectiveness is shown by (1) the average percentage of total development scores is 7.7% and (2) 75.8% of students get positive KMT. Further research is needed for the description of the performance of the completeness of the aspects of the analytic rubric. Keywords: Pengembangan, Rubrik Analitik

Abstract

Abstract: One of the successful indicators in mathematics learning is marked by achievement of optimal learning outcomes. However, students' mathematics learning outcomes in several districts in Indonesia are still low. This is proved by the decline of national examination average score in mathematics subjects. The average national exam results of Senior High School at Sukoharjo District decrease from 2016 to 2017, namely 12,92% from 56.59 into 49.28. One of the factors that cause the problem is students are less motivated in participating learning process because material presentation by teachers is less attractive. This study aims to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes after the application of combination between Out Door and In Door Learning method in Polynomial material using SEPUR SELAM system. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. The subjects in this study are students of class XI IPA 5 of State Senior High School (SMA) 1 Tawangsari in academic year of 2017/2018, consisting of 38 people. The instruments are observation, interviews, and tests. The results reveal that there is an increase in students' mathematics learning outcomes. The success can be obtained from pre-cycle data which shows the average students’ learning outcomes up to 79.026316. In the first cycle, the average of students’ learning outcomes is 84.947, and the second cycle is 90,296053. Based on the acquisition of learning outcomes tests in the second cycle, it is concluded that there is an increase in learning outcomes up to 14.261%. It means that the application of outdoor and indoor method using SEPUR SELAM system can improve mathematics learning outcomes of class XI IPA 5 of SMAN Tawangsari 1 in the academic year of 2017/2018.Keywords: Mathematics Learning Outcomes, SEPUR SELAM.

Abstract

Abstract: Mathematics in schools needs to function as a means to develop intelligence, abilities, and skills to form student personalities. Mathematics must be linked to reality, being close to the students and relevant to society in order to have a human value. However, the mathematical concepts taught are still far from the daily life of the students. At the same time, the importance of strengthening character education is needed along with the weakening of the nation’s character. Therefore, educational institutions in Indonesia can implement education based on local wisdom. Education based on local wisdom is more education based on cultural values. Character education based on local wisdom aims at introduce local culture to students. In addition, character education based on local cultural wisdom also has the goal of changing attitudes and also the existing human resource behavior in order to improve work productivity to face various challenges in the future. This type of this research is library research, which is a series of research related to lbrary data collection method, or research whose research object is explored through various library information. The data used in this research is secondary data. Secondary data sources in question are primary and original scientific books and reports contained in articles or journals concering students’ abilities in learning activities. With math-based learning local wisdom, mathematics is expected to be closer to the life of students and students also recognize the noble values of the nations’s culture an an amplifier of their character. Keywords: Student’s Character, Local Wisdom, Mathematics.
