Abstract

Abstract:Mathematics is the prominent field of all scientific disciplines. Mathematics also has many benefits for human life. However, students' knowledge about benefits of learning mathematics for human life is still not reflected in students’ attitude during their mathematics learning. The students’ attitude in following mathematics learning is strongly influenced by students' perceptions of mathematics. A good perception will foster a positive attitude and vice versa, a bad perception will lead to negative one. One aspect that can affect students’ perceptions is learning model applied by a teacher. This study aims to determine the effect of cooperative learning model of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type on students' perceptions. The research method is quantitative with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Data collection techniques use experiments and direct observation, while the instruments are questionnaires about students' mathematics perceptions. Data analysis is t-test from pretest and posttest data. Based on the results of t-test analysis, it is found that , which is5.71 ( ) and 2.16( ) with a significant level . Based on these results, it can be concluded that cooperative learning model of the TGT type influences students' mathematics perception. Keywords:Perception, Students’ Mathematics Perception, Teams Games Tournament.

Abstract

Abstract: During this period, learning process is still conventional. Teachers still dominate learning process, it makes classroom atmosphere less active. Understanding the concept of a material also decreases. One way to overcome the problem is applying Inquiry learning strategy. This is a descriptive qualitative research by describing mathematics learning process using inquiry learning strategy and it is completed by Students’ worksheets (LKS). This research is conducted at State Senior High School (SMA) 1 Kauman Tulungagung. Observation results in this study consist of teachers and students’ observations. Based on teachers’ observation, the value is 35 and the percentage is 87.5%, so it is categorized into good teacher. Meanwhile, based on students’ activities, the value is 33 the percentage up to 82.5%, so it belongs to active students. The average of learning outcome is 89,61 with minimum completion criteria (KKM) value is 75 for mathematics, and the percentage of learning completeness up to 88,37%. So, it can be concluded that learning outcome with the implementation of inquiry learning strategy has good completeness score.  It is based on 43 students’ responses with average value up to 51,04%. So, it is categorized into positive response because students respond well to the implementation of inquiry learning strategy. The results of this study can be used as consideration for teachers in choosing the right strategy for learning, so students can understand the material well. Keywords: Students’ Worksheet, Mathematics Logic, Inquiry Strategy.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of lidimatika multiplication method on elementary school students' mathematics achievement. This research type is quasi experiment research. The population of this study is all the rest of SD Ngrukeman. Samples taken are class IIIA students as experimental class and grade IIIB students as control class. The experimental class acquired mathematics learning using the lidimatika method, while the control class used conventional learning. The instrument used in this study is the test of achievement. To examine the effect of applying lidimatika learning method to achievement, data were analyzed by using unpaired t test. The results showed that lidimatika's learning method had a positive effect on student’s achievement. Keywords: Achievement, Lidimatika Method.

Abstract

Abstract: In learning process, teachers often ignore students’ initial knowledge. Students are not given the opportunity to rediscover and construct their own mathematics ideas. Classroom learning activities are often boring. It can affect students' learning motivation. The low learning motivation of students towards mathematics subject influences students’ learning outcomes. For this reason, learning innovation is a crucial matter. PMRI approach is offered as a solution which learning process is done outside the classroom with a game, learning that links mathematics material with everyday life context, and learning that views students as active participants. The purpose of this study is to describe the effectiveness of outdoor learning with PMRI approach in SPLDV material. The subjects in this study are students of class VIII-C of State Junior High School (SMPN) 4 Lamongan and teachers who carried out learning. It is descriptive research with one shot case study design. The results reveal that the teachers’ ability in managing learning with PMRI approach is effective, because each observed aspect is included in good/very good category. Students’ activities during learning process with PMRI approach are effective because every aspect of students’ activity is categorized in the range of effectiveness. Students' classical learning completeness is good, which is shown by 83% of students fulfilling KKM. So, it can be concluded that outdoor learning with PMRI approach in SPLDV material is effective..Keywords: Effectiveness, Outdoor Learning, PMRI, SPLDV.

Abstract

Abstract: The material for generator functions in discrete mathematics courses is considered as difficult material for students. In improving ability to solve problems in generator function material, the first step that should be done is recognizing and knowing students’ thinking skill comprehensively. The ability of higher order thinking (Higher Order Thinking Skills / HOTS) in this study includes the ability of logical and reasoning, analysis, evaluation, and creation. The aim of this study is to describe students’ high level thinking ability in solving generator functions problems. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The research subjects are 6 students of the mathematics education department at Hasyim Asy'ari University. The results show that 2 students have less ability to perform logical and reasoning abilities. They are  good ability in analysis, evaluation, and creation. So, they are classified as having a high level of thinking ability with moderate level. Moreover, 4 students are not able to perform logical and reasoning abilities. However, they have good ability in analysis, evaluation, and creation. So, they are classified as having high level thinking skills with low level. Keywords: HOTS, Problem Solving, Discrete Mathematics.

Abstract

Abstract: This is a quantitative research which aims to determine whether there is an influence of students’ perceptions on mathematics learning outcomes. The population in this study is all students at tenth grade in one of State Vocational Schools in Surabaya. Sample selection is done through simple random sampling. The research instruments consist of students' mathematics perception questionnaires and learning outcomes tests. The obtained data are tested using statistical t test. The result reveals that t-count is 5.15 and it is compared with t-table using significance level up to 0.05. It indicates that t-count > t-table, so it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, students' perceptions of mathematics learning have a significant influence on learning outcomes. Keywords:Learning Outcomes, Mathematics, Perception.

Abstract

understanding the concept of algebra. So, an innovative learning model is needed to make students more active in understanding the concept. One of the innovative learning models is Learning Cycle 5E. The objective of this study is (1) to find out whether the algebra thinking ability of class VII in the Learning Cycle 5 achieves classical completeness; (2) to describe the algebra thinking ability of class VII in Learning Cycle 5E. The research method is mixed methods. The populations in this study are seventh grade students consisting of 281 students. The sample in this study is students of class VII F consisting of 36 students. Simple random is chosen as sampling technique. Quantitative data is collected using tests and it is analyzed using z test. The subjects in this study are 9 students. The variable is algebra thinking ability. In determining the subject, the researcher employs purposive sampling technique. Meanwhile, qualitative data analysis is analysis of interview data. The results show that (1) algebra thinking ability of class VII in 5E Learning Cycle achieves classical completeness of 83.33%; (2) the results of algebra thinking ability tasks are: (a) students in high-level algebra thinking ability have high generational, transformational, and global meta abilities; (b) students in middle algebra thinking ability have high generational and transformational abilities, and moderate global meta abilities; and (c) students in low-level algebra thinking ability have moderate generational and transformational abilities, and they have low global meta abilities. Keywords: Algebra Thinking Ability, 5E Learning Cycle.
