Abstract

In the fast globalization era, people need good public transportation facilities to easily carry out their daily activities. However, public transportation such as angkutan kota mostly is not preferred compared to other modes of public transportation because it is difficult to acquire necessary information regarding angkutan kota routes in one area. This research aims to develop a mobile application to enhance the process of acquiring information of angkutan kota routes in Bandung. Eight potential users of the developed application were involved as participants in the research, from the identification of user needs through interviews and usability testing, the selection of design concept, to the evaluation of prototype. Based on the thirteen identified user needs, we developed two alternative design concepts from which we chose one best concept to be developed further into a prototype. The evaluation of the prototype through usability testing showed that the developed mobile application has good usability with 73% of efficiency measure, 90% of effectiveness measure, 78% of learnability measure and System Usability Score (SUS) of 71,25.

Abstract

Gears is one of machine elements, cylindrical wheels used for transmitting motion and power from one rotary shaft to anothers. The design of the gear is part of the engineering design activities to produce products that are not only superior in terms of technology but produce the design in accordance with the designer. The design of gear involves extensive procedure, complex calculations and many design decision. It is necessary for the design of the gear based on characteristics of material that matches the designer whishes. The characteristics of material on which to base the design include the size of the geometry, the contact stress, bending stress, precision standard and transmission conditions. Selection of gear design to consider the characteristic materials through multi criteria decision making approach. The ELECTRE method is one of MCDM method used to help decision makers choose the best alternative with outranking approach. The results of the analysis with the model ELECTRE is best alternative consists of alternative 3 that has some design criteria includes: contact stress, , bending stress, precision based on the ISO 1328 standard, transmission conditions and the size of the geometry. According to these calcultion , the absolute dominance grading was determined as alternative 3 > alternative 1 > alternative 4 >alternative 2.

Abstract

A company should pay attention to operational risk to maximise its efficiency and effectivity.Identification of failure and the cause and the impact of the failure at milling station is needed to be done so that the sugar production process can run well. Here, we employ a failure mode and effect analysis to identify the failure and its effect. We obtain 22 operational risks with two critical risks. The two critical risks are then used as top event in analysing the cause of the failure. The result from fault tree analysis shows that there are 4 basic events, which are the turbine vibrates, schedule part’s change before failure, high rainfall and the schedule and priority of processing

Abstract

High electricity demand requires power companies to maintain the efficiency of every generation process. One factor affecting the efficiency of the production system is the reliability of the machine. Nozzle is a sparepart of the tool used to clean slaging on the wall of the boiler is Soot Blower . Soot Blower's current condition consumes steam nearly 400,000 kg/year from the ideal condition 332,000 kg/year. The high consumption of steam causes the high cost of coal and low efficiency Soot Blower. One alternative that can be offered is to replace the Nozzle with a new type that has a lower pressure that is Nozzle Gemini. The new alternative compared based on operational analysis that see comparison from preference matrix weight and financial analysis that see comparison on 10 year projection by Net Present Value(NPV), IRR and PP analysis. And it is known on both analysis of Gemini Nozzle usage is feasible to be applied.

Abstract

UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) Center in Central Java Province has 69 types of potential culinary products in the form of snacks. An initial study showed that from 47 MSMEs, there are 45 products which are packaged simply. The research was conducted to create a new packaging design which is appropriate for consumers' needs using Kansei Engineering. The method translates consumers' psychological feelings into new packaging design parameters as well as statistics analysis to elicit design elements in accordance with Kansei Word. Affective and psychological aspects that affect consumers on product packaging are "adorable" and "simplicity". Each component has different Kansei word variables. Adorable component has informative, modern, colorful, interesting, and distinctive variables; whereas Kansei word with the largest weight is colored with the value of 0.961 and the smallest weight is modern with the value of 0.819. Simplicity component has simple, easy-to-carry, and easy-to-open; whereas Kansei word with the largest weight is easy-to-open with the value of 0.927 and the smallest weight is simple with the value of -0.414.

Abstract

Motorcycle parking area in the Faculty of Engineering UNS is 2895 m2 which is divided into 5 sectors. Problems arising in the parking lot as follows: irregular parking position, the distance between motorcycles too close, the user is difficult to remove a motorcycle, and motorcycles parked carelessly in the parking circulation path. To overcome this problem parking needs to be designed parking pattern using participatory ergonomic approach. The results showed that the optimal parking pattern in terms of capacity is a parking pattern with 900 angles. Parking patterns with 900 angle can accommodate 1046 motorcycle.

Abstract

Karanganyar District Hospital uses a system of shift work is divided into three, namely the morning shift, afternoon shift and night shift. This study analyzed the levels of general fatigue experienced by nurses on the morning shift, afternoon shift and night shift using methods Bourdon Wiersma and questionnaire Subjective Rating Self Test and measurement physical workload using physiological methods of work. Based on the results obtained that the afternoon shift is a shift that has a level of fatigue the most high based on 3 parameters measured is speed, accuracy and constancy with methods Bourdon Wiersma Test and the morning shift and afternoon shift as a shift that has the workload of most high based on the results of measurements of the pulse to determine the amount of energy consumption, oxygen consumption and% CVL to the nurse and then questionnaire.

Abstract

Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) is a method to evaluate the design of productwith considering the ease of manufacture process and the assembly process. UNS LPPD Hand isprosthetic hand with the function and shape that has likely the original hand man. UNS LPPD Hand is developed by the Laboratory Planning and Product Design of Sebelas Maret University (Laboratorium P3 UNS). From the conceptual design of prosthetic finger by Cahyadin (2016), the prototype can't do the movement flexed according with the design objectives and there are some components that not required. Therefore, there are some components that must be modified or eliminated. The modified component is phalanx of media and eliminated components are short and long pin holder The result is improvement of design prosthetic finger that 2 components are fixed and 4 components are eliminated, and reducing the process from 99 steps to 79 steps

Abstract

This research designed of documentation management system laboratory for Mechatronics Laboratory based on SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2008 refers to documentation management system laboratory in UPT Integrated Laboratory. Mechatronics laboratory is expanding the scope of the UPT Integrated Laboratory. Design of documentation management system laboratory required to obtain accreditation from KAN. Documents were designed consisting of level 1 Quality Guidelines, level 2 Procedures, level 3 Work Instrictions, and level 4 Forms. Design of the documents were done with five stages document requirements identification, business process identification, analysis the availability of the necessary documents, designing documents, and documents verification. From the stages, are known that 10 documents level 1 need adjustments, 2 documents level 3 and 11 documents level 4 need to be designed. On documents verification, it is known that there are documents that requires improvements in the format and content. If Mechatronics Laboratory develop, then required adjustments to the documents

Abstract

The application of ergonomics in work place is important because the lack of attention can cause health problems to worker, this can be performed by postural assessment using method of visual management, which assessing each elementary operation of a process to the selected domain ergonomics to produce PES (partial ergonomic score) and with a formula then value of OES (overall ergonomic score) is obtaned that shows the operation status of a process. The results obtained from this study is 5 process have value of OES in the range 0.4<OES≤0.5 so operation status is "investigate; change may be needed” while 17 process have value of OES in the range 0.5<OES≤0.7 so operation status is “investigate; change soon”. The conclusion of this study is the change of work posture of the worker is needed, which can be conducted by designing a facility based on the elementary operation with the highest value of PES.
