Abstract

Research about coagulation of iron and calcium have been conducted using moringa (moringa oleifera Lamk) seed coagulant through the variation of the concentration of moringa seed and depositional time. Moringa seeds were used in this research that moringa seeds are old and dry. Compounds of moringa seeds that play role in the coagulation process of iron and calcium are proteins. This research was conducted to determine the optimum concentration of moringa seed and optimum deposition time on the process of coagulation using moringa seed coagulant in order to obtain the percentage decrease in the levels of iron and calcium. Variations in the concentration of moringa seeds were used in this research are 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 ppm and the settling time is 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 minutes. The results showed that the concentration of moringa seed and deposition time influenced in the process of coagulation of iron and calcium. In iron coagulation, obtained optimum concentration of 400 ppm moringa seeds and optimum settling time is 90 minutes. In these conditions the iron content decreased by 68.00 ppm or 66.95% from its initial level of 99.8 ppm. While the calcium coagulation, moringa seeds obtained optimum concentration of 500 ppm and optimum settling time of 120 minutes, which in this condition calcium levels decreased by 241 ppm or 49.00% of the initial concentration is 492 ppm.

Abstract

Diabetes is the oldest disease in the world, the death rate cause by diabetes mellitus is increasing. This study aims to know bioactive substances of avocado leaf and effective concentrate in decreasing the level of mice blood glucose. The study apply experimetal method to analyze bioactive substance in avocado leaf extract qualitatively. Whereas the preclinical testing use random group design. This study used 15 male mice as test animal which are induced with etilen diamin tetra asetat (EDTA). The mice are divided into 5 groups (n=5) randomly with different treatment. Treatment I, II, III are given avocado leaf extarct each with concentrate of 10%, 20% and 40%, treatment IV is given suspension of glibenklamid as a positive control (+) and treatment V is given 1% suspension of sodium carboxymethil cellulose (Na-CMC) as a negative control (-). Data obtained is analysed by using statistical analysis of varians (ANOVA) wich is continued with Duncan test. The research result shows that advocado leaf extract positively contains compounds of alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin and steroid. Praclinic test shows that advocado leaf extract proven can lower the level of mice glucose and relatively the most effective concentrate is 10%.

Abstract

One of indicator that quality of education said to be good is when students able to apply what they have learned at school to deal with problems in their daily life. Learning in the classroom should not only focus on mastery of the materials but also how to create the atmosphereT in the classroom to be fun and interesting so that students are not bored and learning outcomes can be improved. Course Review Horay (CRH) is one of a model that can be applied. This research aims to find out the difference of learning outcome of SMA Negeri 5 Palu through cooperative learning model application of CRH on electrolyte and non electrolyte solutions material. Populations of this research are all students of grade X of SMA Negeri 5 Palu for Academic Year of 2012/2013 which are consists of seven classes. Sample of this research consist of two classes which are class XA with 28 students as experiment class and class XG with 27 students as control class which determined by purposive sampling. Data collection is conducted using test instrument such as chemistry learning achievement of Electrolyte and non electrolyte solutions material. Data from research result is tested using two parties t-test with prerequisite test which are; normality test and homogeneity test. Average score of students learning outcome using cooperative learning model CRH is 23.21 while the average score of students learning outcome who join the conventional teaching is 19.93. Based on the statistic analysis with statistic t-test is achieved thitung = 4.81 and this is in the rejection area of H0 which is -2.00 and 2.00. Therfore, it can be concluded that there is a difference of students learning outcome through Cooperative learning model application of CRH type and conventional to the students grade X of SMA Negeri 5 Palu.

Abstract

A research about the bioabsorption of Pb(II) using the tangerine peel (Citrus reticulata) has been done. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum contact time of tangerine peel and to determine the pH of the tangerine peel on the adsorption power of Pb(II) in solution. The method used in this study was a laboratory experiment using the tangerine peel waste as the adsorbent of Pb(II). The concentration of Pb(II) adsorbed was measured using a spectrophotometer spectrodirect. The results showed that the optimum contact time of adsorption the metal ions Pb(II) was 60 minutes with the absorption efficiency of 96.19%. The pH optimum of adsorption of the metal ion Pb(II) was at pH 4.0 with the absorption efficiency of 93.05%.

Abstract

This study was conducted to seek the use of instructional media multimedia-based to supportintegrated science learning especially on chemical materials. This instructional media was used to assistteachers in teaching of chemical materials to improve learning outcomes of students in the class VIIat the State Junior High School 1 Palu. The population in this study were 528 students class VII atthe State Junior High School 1 Palu. The sample in this study was 32 students of class VII M as anexperimental class and 33 students of class VII K as the control class. The results of the data analysisobtained an average value (χ1) of experiment class was 84.96 with a standard deviation of 6.21 and theaverage value (χ2)of control class was 82.16 with a standard deviation of 9.69. The results of hypothetictesting was tc = 4.137 and tt = 1.67 with a significance level α = 0.05. Based on the results it can beconcluded that the use of multimedia in the material of substance classification gave positive effect onthe learning outcomes of students in the Class VII at the State Junior High School 1 Palu.

Abstract

Stale rice is the production result of inapproprite food to consume due to have bad smell and taste, mucus appearance, grown with yellow or orange fungus and sour taste because microorganism living in it. It is only throw by the household as the waste. Thus, it needs a process that it becomes useful and quality product. One of the product is the making of liquid organic fertilizer (POC). This study aims to create a POC and determine the amount of nitrogen in the POC. The research method is the preparation of stale rice, followed manufacture of POC through fermentation and determination of N-Total with destruction. POC later applied for fertilization in plants of orange paper flower (bougainvillea spectabilis), then performed observations shoot height of plants , leaves number, leaves shape, leaves colour , flowers number and the analysis of one of ingredients N-total POC in stale rice. N-total in POC of stale rice obtained wet destruction method as much as 92 mg/L (92 ppm). The liquid organic fertilizer from stale rice can accelerate the growth of orange paper flowers (Bougainvillea spectabilis) is indicated by the number of shoots, leaves and flower petals.

Abstract

Banana peel waste utilization as organic manure and its application has been made to the land kale plant growth (Ipomea reptans Poir). This paper aims to describe how to manufacture liquid organic fertilizer from the waste banana skin, determine the total nitrogen content of liquid organic fertilizer and the effect of liquid organic fertilizer waste banana skin on plant growth kale land (Ipomea reptans Poir). The method used was experimental at the stage of making a liquid organic fertilizer waste banana peel in fermentation, the determination of total nitrogen content and the application of the organic liquid fertilizer waste banana skin using a randomized block design (RBD) with 4 treatments include P0 (0 mL); P1 (20 mL); P2 (40 mL); and P3 (60 mL).The parameters measured were plant height (cm), the number of leaves (leaf) and wet weight (g). The growth data of the swamp cabbage land (Ipomea reptans poir) were analyzed by using the statistical test analysis of variance (ANOVA) then followed by Duncan test with significance level of 5%. The results showed that levels of total nitrogen of the organic liquid fertilizer waste was 0.032% and the application of the organic liquid fertilizer of banana peel waste on the growth of swamp cabbange land (Ipomea reptans poir) influence on plant height (cm) and wet weight (g) but have no effect on the number of leaves (leaf). Treatment P2 (40 mL) showed the best result for the average plant height (cm), the number of leaves (leaf) and wet weight (g) of the swamp cabbage land (Ipomea reptans poir).

Abstract

The research aim is to determine the ability of cerakin seeds as natural insecticide on caterpillar leek (spodoptera exigua Hubn). In this study, the cerakin seeds from Saloya village, Labuan Panimba village Donggala, and Sidole Village Ampibabo, Central Sulawesi are used as sample. The cerakin seeds was extracted by using ethanol and then were tested on caterpillar leek (spodoptera exigua) with a concentration of extract 15, 25, 35, 45 and 55%. The results showed that for each concentration showed vary results in killing larvae of caterpillar leek (spodoptera exigua), the higher concentration the more mortality of caterpillar leek’s larvae (spodoptera exigua). Therefore it can be stated that the extract of cerakin seeds can be used as an natural insecticide on caterpillar leek (spodoptera exigua) and is also able to kill the larvae caterpillar leek (spodoptera exigua) 93.3% to 100%.

Abstract

The study of effect of cooperative learning model of snowball throwing type in the molecule shape had been conducted. This study aims to find out the effect of cooperative learning model of snowball throwing on the student’s study outcome in molecule shape material science of SMA Negeri 1 Pasangkayu for 2013 neadenic year. The samples of study are grade XI Science 3 as experimental class (learning by using cooperative learning model of snowball throwing type) with 30 students and grade XI science 1 as a control class (convensional learning) 30 students. Data collection was conducted by using test instrument of study outcome in molecule shape material wich was validated before. The data analysis obtained average score in experimental class = 77.23 and for control class obtained average score 58.7. Based on the hypotesis analysis with t-test of statistic on the party was obtained the value of tcounted= 5.65 and ttable= 1.671 on a = 0.05. H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected, because tcounted was in area of rejection. This shows that the cooperative learning model of snowball throwing type gave positive effect on student study outcome in the molecule shape material in grade XI science of SMA Negeri 1 Pasangkayu.

Abstract

The research was conducted to determine the digestion power is highest of Zn metal with the combination of mineral acids in the estuarine sediments of Palu River samples. Zn metal concentrations in the sediments were analysed by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) at a wavelength of 231.9 nm. The results showed that water content ranged between 30.36%-37.18%, ash content ranged from 52.40%-68.76%, and biomass content ranged from 0.88%-10.42%. Analysis of AAS showed the significant average of Zn metal on a combination of mineral acids HNO3-H2SO(1:1) was 289.95182.49 mg/kg, and on a combination of mineral acids HNO3-HCl (1:3) was 669.18447.2 mg/kg. While calculation results of the relative standard deviation values were 25.35% for the combination of mineral acids HNO3-H2SO4 (1:1), and 22% for the combination of mineral acids HNO3-HCl (1:3). The combination of mineral acids having the highest digestion to the Zn metal in the estuarine sediments of Palu River was a combination of mineral acids HNO3-HCl (1:3).
