Abstract

Lamtoro gung (leucaena leucocephala) is one of the food materials containing high enough protein which allow to be used as raw material for producing tempeh through fermentation. This study aimed to determine the effect of fermentation time to the protein levels of lamtoro gung seeds tempeh with variation fermentation times of 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 hours. Steps in this study were sample preparation, producing lamtoro gung seeds tempeh,and protein levels analysis. The protein level was determined by Kjeldahl method. The results showed that there was an effect of fermentation time to the protein levels. The longer the fermentation time took effect to the lower the levels of protein produced. The highest protein level was obtained at 24 hours of fermentation time that was equal to 7.943%, while the protein level on fermentation time of 36 hours was equal to 7.725%, 48 hours fermentation time was equal to 7.195%, 60 hours fermentation time was equal to 7.197%, and 72 hours fermentation time was equal to 5.733%.

Abstract

The use of instructional media could help teachers to develop and deepen in teaching and learning process in the classroom. This study aims to determine the effect of using atomic structure card media and periodic systems toward learning outcome of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Palu. The population in this study was all of the eleventh grade students on Science Program of SMA Negeri 6 Palu in the academic year 2013/2014 which consists of 3 classes. The sample in this study was 30 students of Science Program 1 as the experimental class and 32 students of Science Program 2 as the control class. Testing research data used statistical analysis of the t test (right) with the prerequisite test, test for normality, and homogeneity. The data analysis result obtained for the average score in the experiment class X1 = 68.03 with deviation standard = 10.50 and the control class X2 = 54.75 with deviation standard = 9.57. Based on the testing result of hypothesis by statistical t-test values obtained right side of tcounted> ttable is 5.37 > 1.67 with a confidence level of 0.05 and degrees of freedom = 60. From the results of hypothesis testing, then, Ho was rejected so it can be concluded that there is a better influence in using atomic structure card media and periodic system toward learning outcome of the leventh grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Palu.

Abstract

This research describes the differences of student’s learning with the application of cooperative learning type make a match in the electrolyte and non-electrolyte at the X grade student’s of the Madrasah Aliya DDI Lonja. This research used quasi experimental with non randomized pretest-posttest control group design. This research was conducted with two groups: XA as the experimental (n=21) XB as the control group (n=18). The data findings means score of experimental group (X1) is 70,5 with the standard deviation 9,6 and the control group (X2) is 62.0 with the standard deviation is 6. Based on the results, the researcher concludes cooperative learning type make a match has better than control class that used conventional learning model.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze misconception of student in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Banawa Tengah on the buffer material. The type of this research is a description where the subject of research is 41 student. The instrument used was a multiple choice test with reasoned (CRI). It consists of 13 items which was accompanied by questionnaries. The results were obtained information that the students have misconceptions on subconcepts calculate pH buffer solution and way of working buffer solution, with amount of 37 students (46%). students at least experienced a misunderstanding on the component subconcepts buffer solution and way of working buffer solution with amount 17 student (21%). Furthermore, causes of student misconception is due to the lack of interest of student in the buffer solution material (22%), praconception and less understanding of the concept (80%), textbook of student (34%), and model of learning (57%). The result of this study shows that most of students in class XI SMA Negeri Banawa Tengah have misconception on the buffer material.

Abstract

Kembang merak flower (caesalpinia pulcherrima) is one of the ornamental plants, easily cultivated and its colour is yellowish red which also containing flavonoids. This research aims to identify the flavonoid compounds of kembang merak flower as acid-base indicator. It was done through the extraction of Kembang Merak using methanol as solvent. The extract separated by thin layer chromatography (TLC) using the eluent of BAA (butanol : acetic acid : water) (4 : 1 : 5) as an appearance of stains used ammonia vapour. TLC kromatogram results showed that there were two components with Rf 0.58 and 0.89. Both of the components separately scarapped then dissolved in methanol and measured absorbance at a wavelength 0f 200-600 nm using UV-Vis spectrophometer T80. Component I identified as isoflavones, khalkon, and auron whereas component II identified was not. For the comparison of kembang merak in solution of acid was red and base was green. The titration of strong acid-strong base of the kembang merak extract have have changed the colour in pH 9.51-11.38 pink to green, while titration of a weak acid-strong base have change the colour of light orange to green at pH 9.22-11.59 and for titration of strong acid-weak base colour changing light greenish into orange with a pH range from 2.73 to 1.93. The extract of kembang merak flower can be applied phenolphthalein has been applied.

Abstract

This research aims to find the levels of sulfur and iron in the liquid waste heat of PLTU discarded into bodies of water at Panau village Subdistrict north of Palu. This research used spectrodirect for the analysis. The result of the research showed that the waste not contents the sulfur or iron, but contents the sulfite. Based on measurements using wavelengths of 405 nm was found that the sample contains 3.12 mg/L sulfite compounds.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to compare the learning outcomes of student in SMA Negeri 8 Palu using the cooperative learning model between jigsaw and NHT (numbered head together) on the stoichiometry. This research using a quasi-experimental design with factorial 2 x 2. The population of this study is all student of class X SMA 8 Palu with academic year 2015/2016 which consists of four classes. The sample of this study consists of two classes, namely class XB with amount of 16 students (experimental class) and class XC with amount of 17 students (control class) which was determined by purposive sampling. Data was collected by using test instruments, namely an achievement test that contains the stoichiometry material. The examination of data was conducted by using statistical analysis t-test two sides and one side (right side) non-parametric or Mann-Whitney U test. The average score of the learning outcomes of student by using the jigsaw type was (78.00; SD = 13.63), and by using NHT type was (70.47; SD = 16.51). Based on statistical analysis of the hypothesis test for two sides, it was obtained a value of 0.195 Asymp sig (2-tailed) and was obtained a value 0.204 Exact Sig (1-tailed) of 0.204, both of datas were at the rejection area of H0 which was a significance value greater than 0.05 (P> 0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that there was a difference in learning outcomes using the cooperative model jigsaw type with NHT type, furthermore the type of jigsaw better than the NHT on the learning outcomes of students of stoichiometry in class X SMA Negeri 8 Palu.

Abstract

A research on the extraction of lead(II) ion has been done using emulsion liquid membrane technique. This research used a laboratory experiment method by using benzoyl acetone as a carrier, paraffin liquid as the membrane, a solution of nitric acid as an internal phase, Span-80 as surfactant, and a solution of lead(II) as the sample solution. This research was conducted to determine the optimum extraction condition of lead(II) ions in solution which includes a volume ratio of emulsion to external phase and extraction capacity of lead(II) ion by emulsion liquid membrane technique. The volume ratio of emulsion to external phase used was 1:5, 1:6, 1:7, and 1:8. While the variation of concentration of lead(II) used was 220 ppm, 434 ppm, 695 ppm, and 817 ppm. The determination of the concentration of lead(II) ions in external phase is done by using a spectrophotometer SpectroDirect. The results of this research showed that the volume ratio of emulsion to external phase were in the maximum extraction percentage; 1:6 ratio. Moreover, the concentration of lead(II) were in maximum extraction percentage of 220 ppm with extraction percentage of 56.36%.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the production of liquid organic fertilizer from offal waste of tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) by bakasang method,and determined content levels of N, P, and K in liquid organic fertilizer. Levels of nitrogen (N), phosforus (P), and potassium (K) were analyzed using the spectrophotometer Spectro Direct. The results showed that at 5 days of fermentation obtained N, P, and K by 2.49%,1.05%, and 0.98%, respectively, while at 10 daysof fermentation obtained amounted to by 3.74%, 3.20%, and 1.03%, respectively. Fertilizer with bakasang method of manufacture can be done on a 10 day fermentation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine concentration of zinc (Zn) and lead (Pb) metals on the sea water in coastal areas Mamboro District of North Palu. The method used was a spectrophotometry using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). Seawater samples were taken from three different points, is A (5 meter), B (10 meter), and C (15 meter) within ± 5 m from the coastline, and sampling started from the edge of the harbor of cooking oil companies. Results of the analysis of zinc contents from the three points are 0.155 mg/L at point A, 0.126 mg/L at point B, and 0.109 mg/L at point C, respectively. Moreover, the lead contents are 0.35 mg/L at point A, 0.391 mg/L at point B, and 0.433 mg/L at point C , respectively. Concentration of zinc metal on the sea water in Mamboro coastal marine ranged from 0.109 mg/L – 0.155 mg/L, which is higher than the threshold value zinc metal, 0.01 mg/L, where concentration of lead metal on the sea water in Mamboro coastal marine ranged from 0.35 mg/L – 0.433 mg/L, which is higher than the threshold value of lead metal, 0.025 mg/L.
