Abstract

This study aims to analyze research trends related to digital literacy and scientific literacy in Indonesia biology learning and find future research opportunities. The method used is a literature review with bibliometric analysis. The bibliometric analysis utilizes the Google Scholar database, sourced from Journals and Proceedings with a publication period of 2012-2022 Search for articles used PoP application and bibliometric mapping used VOSviewer. The results of analysis obtained 18 articles related to digital literacy, 100 articles related scientific literacy, and 1 article related to both. The most cited research is related to the use of learning models to increase scientific literacy. The mapping results obtained 2 clusters with 17 items. Research about digital literacy and scientific in Indonesia biology learning began to be widely in 2019-2022. Research on digital literacy and literacy in biology learning is still very much in demand at this time. Digital literacy in biology learning in Indonesia is still rarely studied. In conclusion, research related to digital literacy and scientific literacy is still a research trend in biology learning in Indonesia today. Digital literacy is still rarely researched and can be used as an opportunity in the future in research in the field of biology education.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mastery of concepts and skills by using outdoor learning-based science learning, the method used in this study is a quasi-experiment (pseudo- design) with a randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study was the 8th grade students of SMP Negeri Sumber Rejo, then the research sample was selected through simple random sampling method. The research subjects used were students of class VIIIA as the experimental class and students of class VIIIC as the control class. Research data were obtained through test instruments and non-test instruments. Data analysis techniques used percentages for science process skills and t-tests for concept understanding. Hypothesis testing with t-test using SPSS program obtained Sig value 0.000 <0.05, then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, which means that outdoor learning-based science learning is effective to improve students' concept understanding and science process skills. Based on the observation of students' science process skills at the first meeting in the experimental class was 79.7% while in the control class was 64.6%. The average value of the observation of science process skills at the second meeting in the experimental class was 84.8% while in the control class was 74.6%.

Abstract

Teachers are professional educators whose duty is to educate, teach, guide, direct, train, assess, and evaluate students. Based on observations made in several high schools in Bantul, it is known that biology teachers still have difficulty understanding high school biology material. This study aims to determine in detail the internal and external factors that cause teacher difficulties in understanding Biology material, as well as to find out the Biology concepts in class X material that are difficult to understand by high school biology teachers in Bantul Regency.     This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The research population was biology teachers at public and private high schools in Bantul Regency. The stages of the study included initial observation, preparation of research instruments, validation of research instruments, data validity testing, and data analysis. The instruments were arranged in the form of interview guidelines and questionnaires. Instrument validation was carried out by two validators who were experts in their fields. The validity test of the data carried out included testing the validity and reliability of the data. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions from the data.     The results showed that several external and internal factors made it difficult for teachers to understand biology material. The external factors obtained are the lack of facilities and infrastructure, especially the tools and materials in the laboratory, and the difficulty in finding valid supporting information. Internal factors experienced are due to the content of the material that is difficult to understand, a large amount of material, the complex and abstract nature of the material, the number of foreign terms, and the wide scope of the material

Abstract

The purpose of learning is certainly in the form of good learning outcomes, and its implementation is usually influenced by several major factors from the teacher when choosing a learning strategy or model. So that research was conducted related to the effect of the discovery learning model on the learning outcomes of students in class XI IPA on plant tissue material. This research is a type of quasi-experimental research, and this research was conducted to see whether or not there is an effect of the application of the discovery learning model on the learning outcomes of students in class XI IPA on plant tissue material. The population used in this study was all students of class XI IPA 1, 4, 5, and 6, totaling 117 students. The data sampling technique at the time of the research was purposive sampling. There are two data collection techniques used in this study, namely: (1) written tests, namely by giving a pretest before learning and a posttest after learning, (2) the non-test technique is observation. Based on the results of the normality and homogeneity tests, the results showed that the data were not normally distributed because the Sig value on Kolmogorov-Smirnov was 0.00 < 0.05 and not homogeneous. After all, the homogeneity test results showed the result of 0.00, which was < 0.05. Because the data obtained were not normally distributed and not homogeneous, it was continued with the nonparametric test, namely the Wilcoxon test. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test, the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000. Because 0.000 is smaller than 0.05, it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted. This means that there is an effect of the discovery learning model on the learning outcomes of class XI students in studying plant tissue material.

Abstract

The immune system material requires a level of abstract thinking, this abstract material makes it difficult for students to learn. Complex and abstract subject matter requires a good understanding of concepts. One way to make it easier for students to understand the concept is by actively involving students and planning effective learning through the cooperative learning model of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type using Kahoot. The cause of this look at turned into to decide the effect of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model using Kahoot on understanding the concept of the immune system. This studies is a quantitative study the use of a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest-posttest non-equal control group design. The instrument grid is based on indicators of understanding the concept according to Anderson & Krathwohl (2001).The average N-Gain inside the experimental class the usage of the TGT  Kahoot is higher than N-Gain in the PBL learning model inside the control class, which is 0.85 compared to 0.75. There is an influence of the TGT learning model using Kahoot on students' conceptual understanding of the immune system material. The application this model requires good classroom management and stable internet connection.
