Abstract

This study is an attempt to assess the vulnerability of coastal communities to climate change in a participatory way by assessing exposure, sensitivity and capacity of communities in ten coastal villages of western Lombok district in the face of various impacts climate change. The basic concept of the implementation of this study was constructed qualitatively, using a participatory approach. The method of study was adopted from the PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) method with adjustments to coastal and marine context contexts called Indonesian climath adaptation tools for coastal habitat (I-CATCH). he results of this study indicate that the villages that become the object of research have a middle and high degree of vulnerability. The complexity of the problems felt by the community due to changes in seasonal patterns that occur, especially on aspects of livelihood and social environment. On the other hand, the capacity of people in dealing with the symptoms and impacts of climate change that is quite extreme is still very limited. Local adaptation strategies are needed with a focus on two main aspects: capacity building and developing of disaster management activities.

Abstract

The growth of tourism is affected by the level of satisfication from the visitors towords the existence of tourism facilities.  The aim of this research is to know the visitors perspective towards the tourism facilities at Elephant Training Center of Way Kambas National Park.  The data taking can be done by doing interviews, observation and literatures.  The collected data will be analyzed descriptively based on physics, cleaniness and comfort condition.  The result of research shows that the visitors perception towards the tourism facilities is enough. This is not apart from the condition of facilities that are less well meintained and even damaged, such as toilets, bins, attractions arena and playground; although the qality and quntity is sufficient for the needs of tourist.  The national park party needs to add the amount and improve the facilities so it can support the management of the area and improve the amoun of visitors.

Abstract

This research was intended to find Contribution of Non-Timber Forest Products Candlenut (Aleurites Moluccana) to Farmer’s Income of Tangga, supporting and inhibiting factors, and income improvement strategy of business non-timber forest products candlenut. The research location in Tangga hamlet, Selengen Village, Kayangan District, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. This research used interview method with questionnaire tool to 36 respondents was carried on February 2018. The results showed Contribution of Non-Timber Forest Products Candlenut from region farmer community to farmer’s income was 63.2% /area of arable land or 63% /hectares, which support farmers to cultivate candlenut because it is very easy to develop, does not require intensive maintenance, harvest activities were very easy to do, technology tools used were traditional, and marketing process was easy to do. As well as barriers in the miscellaneous management of the lack of capital and the availability of limited tools in the processing of candlenut so that farmers can only sell candlenut in the form of logs that will reduce the income it receives, as well as the lack of knowledge and skills possessed by farmers. Income-generating strategy of the candlenut can be done with SO strategy (Strenght-Opportunity) that is developing the potency of candlenut with skill owned by farmer by utilizing simple tool technology. As well as increased cultivation and intensive candlenut intensive maintenance by utilizing the existing land area.

Abstract

Binderlessboard is one of the potential eco friendly products that can be developed. Utiliation of natural adhesives for non-wood composite is still very limited. Therefore, this research is focused on effects of citric acid content and pressing time on characteristics of particleboard made from peanut shell including its durability to dry wood termite attacks. Peanut shell particles were used as raw materials. Citric acid dissolved in liquid smoke which functioned as a water substitute solvent under a certain ratio and the concentration of the solution was adjusted to 60%. The use of liquid smoke is expected to increase the durability of the particleboard. Factors used in this research were citric acid content (10-30% based on dry weight particles) and pressing time (10 minutes and 15 minutes). Properties of particleboard were analyed based on Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) A 5908 for particleboard. The dry wood termite resistance was then analyzed for its weight loss and mortality after 4 weeks. The results showed that the best particleboard was obtained from the treatment of 30% citric acid content with 15 minutes of pressing time where only the modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity did not met the requirement of JIS A 5908 type 8 with the thickness swelling were 3.276%, water absorption were 44,991%, internal bonding were 4.679 kgf / cm², modulus of rupture were 26.822 kgf / cm², and modulus of elasticity were 8,986,058 kgf / cm². The best value of weight loss and mortality of dry wood termites on particleboard was obtained in a combination of 30% citric acid content with 10 minutes pressing time were 1.083% and 38.67% respectively.

Abstract

Lake Way Jepara is one of the tourist destinations in East Lampung district that has the potential to be developed. An inventory of potential resources of ecotourism at Lake Way Jepara is done by the method of a survey to analyze and document the ecotourism resources at the site. The result of this research shows that the potential of ecotourism resources reside on the Mainland and in the waters of the Lake, including the potential of the landscape, flora and fauna, amenities and services, accommodation and infrastructure. The Mainland covers landscape view of the street, hallway view arboretum, view of the dam and the beauty of the landscape of the Lake. Resources of flora and fauna include 29 species of trees, 26 wildlife species and 21 species of fish. The available infrastructure includes the main road, the alternative way, path tracking, bridges, parking and irrigation canals. Facilities and services include an Advisory Board, a gazebo, a symbolic monument, the Hall opens and seating. Accommodation available: hotel, camping ground, operational as well as homestay. The spread of ecotourism resources clumped in two zones, so that will make it easier in the planning and development of ecotourism.

Abstract

The aims of this study are to determine the influence of bamboo culm section, axial position, and interaction between the culm section and the axial position on physical properties of bamboo petung derived from KHDTK SENARU, North Lombok. The method used in this study was the experimental method using a completely randomized factorial design (CRFD) with two factor. The first factor was the culm section (node and internode) and the second factor was the axial position (bottom, middle and top). Parameters that were observed in this study were green moisture content (MC), air dried MC, green specific gravity, longitudinal and thick shrinkage from green condition to oven dried condition. Data analysis used is the analysis of variance with a confidence level of 95%. The result shows that culm section, the interaction between culm section and axial position did not give significant influence on physical properties. While the axial position which included green MC and green specific gravity has a significant influence on physical properties. A further test was done on a significant result using Tukey's HSD test. Green MC decreases along the culm from base to top. In contrast, green specific gravity increases along the culm from base to top.

Abstract

Mangrove forest ecosystems have a very important role for humans and the environment, so to prevent further damage needs to be done identification of tree species composition and structure of mangrove forest stands. For the purpose of this research is to know the composition of tree species from the level of seedling to the tree and to know the structure of its stand. Data collection methods used are Inventory of mangrove species using Indonesian mangrove determination keychain and data analysis by calculating important value index, Diversity index, relative frequency and horizontal structure analysis. The results showed that the largest tree density structure was Rhizophora mucronata of 225 trees / hectare, Avicennia marinna of 145 trees / hectare, Sonneratia alba of 65 trees / hectare and Avicennia officinalis of 65 trees / hectare and had only one crown layer namely strata A which is dominated by Rhizophora mucronata tree which has an average free height of 9 m branch with total height 12 m and diameter 29 cm. For this reason, planting efforts need to be increased to increase the number and composition for coastal protection.
