Abstract

The Kaur Regency Lagoon Beach is home to a diverse range of macroalgae, presenting an opportunity for various applications. Among these, the development of educational materials, such as booklets for macroalgae identification, stands out. This research aims to catalog the types of macroalgae at Laguna Beach, Kaur Regency, evaluate the suitability of a macroalgae identification-based booklet as educational material for tenth-grade Protista content, and assess the booklet's readability among students. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach, macroalgae samples were collected using the cruising method along the shoreline of Laguna Beach. The booklet's effectiveness was validated by media and material experts, as well as two practitioner experts, while its readability was tested with 20 tenth-grade students from SMAN 5 Kaur. The study identified 16 macroalgae species at Laguna Beach, classified into 3 divisions, 9 orders, and 11 families. Specifically, it found 9 Chlorophyta division species (green algae), 2 Rhodophyta division species (red algae), and 5 Phaeophyta division species (brown algae). The booklet validation yielded an average approval rating of 96.34%, categorizing it as 'very good.' The student readability assessment also rated the booklet highly, with a 93.1% approval rate, further supporting its 'very good' classification.

Abstract

Understanding a concept is very important for students to understand, but in the process misconceptions often occur. To minimize misconceptions, an instrument is needed that can diagnose student misconceptions through diagnostic test assessments. The purpose of this study is to assess the level of validity and ensure the use of a Google form-based three-tier diagnostic test. This instrument can identify the misconceptions of seventh grade junior high school students on the theme of heat around us. This development research refers to the three steps of the Thiagarajan model: defining, designing, and developing. Expert validators and samples, namely 2 lecturers as assessment experts participated in this study, 1 lecturer as a media expert, and 3 practitioners, as well as 30 seventh grade junior high school students. Interview sheets, validation, limited trials and teacher response questionnaires were used in data collection. The percentage calculation results obtained a score of 89.9% with a very valid category. The results of the limited trial showed that 83.4% of students had misconceptions, 12.3% knew the concept, and 4.3% did not know the concept. While the results of the teacher response questionnaire showed that 84.6% of the test were in the very high category.

Abstract

The education sector plays a crucial role in preparing human resources to navigate and thrive in this digital era. One essential skill for adapting to the rapid technological advances is Computational Thinking (CT), which teaches students to frame problems as computational problems. However, the application of CT in learning practices in Indonesia has not been fully successful. This is evident from the 2021 PISA results, which highlight deficiencies in various CT-related competencies, including data practices, modeling and simulation practices, computational problem-solving practices, and systems thinking practices. Therefore, the education sector urgently needs innovative learning approaches that enhance student competencies to keep pace with technological developments. In response to this need, researchers have initiated the creation of innovative digital game-based learning media aimed at developing CT skills among junior high school students. The researchers employed the Research and Development (R&D) method, specifically using the ADDIE model. This digital game development aims to address the low CT proficiency among students in Indonesia. The resulting digital game-based learning media focuses on the topic of simple machines and is intended to be a valuable tool for teachers in fostering students' CT skills, ultimately preparing them to compete in the global workforce.

Abstract

This study aims to determine 1) the improving of students’ learning outcomes that taught using animated video media, and who taught without using animated video media, 2) the effect using animated video media on the learning outcomes. This type research is a quasi-experimental with Non-equivalent Control Design. The population in this study were all students of class VIIIth in the academic year 2021/2022 consisting of eleven class with a total 0f 394 people, the sample was selected by purposive sampling and obtained class VIII.8 as the experimental class 36 people, and class VIII.9 as the control class 36 people. The instrument is test of learning outcomes. Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The result concluded: 1) the science learning outcomes of students who were taught using animated video media experienced an increase in learning outcomes with N-Gain, namely 0.38 (medium category), and who were taught without animated video experienced an increase in learning outcomes with N-Gain, namely 0,18 (low category), 2) there is an influence of the use animated video media improving student learning outcomes. Based on the test using t-test, the result obtained were 6,25(tcount) > 1,67 (ttable) so H0 was rejected and H1 accepted.

Abstract

The aim of this research is that ADDIE-based Powtoon media can improve students' abilities in thinking creatively and developing arguments. This research uses the Research and Development research method. Involving experts (6 teachers) to assess and validate the media using media validation instruments (construct, language and technology). Meanwhile, to assess the practicality of media using instruments to see the influence of the media involving 30 students and 15 KKG teachers. Data were analyzed using SPSS V22 descriptively to describe the results of the media assessment. Based on the research results, the average validation results carried out on 30 students and 15 KKG teachers regarding Powtoon-based learning media were 3.51 percent and 3.95 percent, namely in the Quite Influential category, respectively. Furthermore, the results of the Practicality Analysis carried out on 5 teachers regarding Powtoon-based learning media were 4.06 percent in the Influential category. In this case the media used is valid and has an influence on the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the students' critical thinking skills on the human excretory system material through differentiated learning based on content and process. There are three elements in the differentiated learning that are considered in this research; the student interest, the profile, and the readiness to learn. This research used quasi experimental methods with a non-equivalent control group research design. The sample amounted up to 60 students from two classes : 30 experimental class students and 30 control class students. The instrument used for the critical thinking skills test is 15 multiple-choice questions with C4 and C5 cognitive processes. The differentiated learning instruments are in the form of diagnostic assessments and formative assessments. Data processing was carried out using non-paramatric statistic Wilcoxon Test and N-Gain Test. The results showed that the influence of differentiated learning on the students' critical thinking skills on human excretory system material indicated by the Asymp value. Sig 0.000. A total of 30 students had no negative difference and increased by 25%. Applied differentiated learning had an effect size of 42% or 0.42 with the category "medium".

Abstract

This research aims to explore the indigenous science of the Ngerupuk tradition as local culture in the Petang Traditional Village and analyze its relevance to junior high school science materials. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, with an ethnoscience approach. The research was conducted in the Petang Traditional Village, Badung. Through purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques, a total of 6 research subjects were obtained, including the Community component consisting of stakeholders, Serati Banten, community leaders, and science teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Petang. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interviews, documentation and questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses Milles and Huberman which consists of collecting data, reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results are a number of indigenous knowledge of the community about the Siat Api ritual or fire war and Mecaru panca sata which is the main activity of the Ngerupuk tradition of the Evening Traditional Village. Based on scientific analysis, it was found that the findings are relevant and have a great opportunity to be studied in Phase D Middle School Science, namely in the material of classifying living things, heat and movement, organization of life, air pollution, vibrations, waves and sound.
