Abstract

During project implementation, risk becomes an integral part of project monitoring. Therefore. a tool that could dynamically include elements of risk in project progress monitoring is needed. This objective of this study is to develop a general framework that addresses such a concern. The developed framework consists of three interrelated major building blocks, namely: Risk Register (RR), Bayesian Network (BN), and Project Time Networks (PTN) for dynamic project monitoring. RR is used to list and to categorize identified project risks. PTN is utilized for modeling the relationship between project activities. BN is used to reflect the interdependence among risk factors and to bridge RR and PTN. A residential development project is chosen as a working example and the result shows that the proposed framework has been successfully applied. The specific model of the development project is also successfully developed and is used to monitor the project progress. It is shown in this study that the proposed BN-based model provides superior performance in terms of forecast accuracy compared to the extant models.

Abstract

This paper explores the benefit and barriers of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology adoption in Indonesian hospitals context. The investigation methods of this research used interview and semi-structured questionnaire on RFID consultants, RFID researchers, and big hospital managers in Java Island. The benefits and barriers of RFID technology adoption are identified from literature review. The barriers of RFID technology adoption are divided into two aspects, i.e., as business and technology aspects. The results of this study suggest that the benefits of RFID technology adoption are dominated of intangible benefit. Most of the respondents believed that the main barriers of RFID technology adoption are (1) the complexity of RFID technology (2) the lack of complete and valid information, and (3) there is no sufficient budget available. The detail of the outcomes and the implications of this reasarch are also discussed. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Makalah ini berupaya mengeksplorasi manfaat dan hambatan dari pengadopsian teknologi RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) dalam konteks rumah sakit di Indonesia. Metode investigasi dari penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara dan kuesioner semi-struktur untuk konsultan, peneliti teknologi RFID dan manajer rumah sakit berkatagori besar di Pulau Jawa. Manfaat-manfaat dan hambatan-hambatan dari pengadopsian teknologi RFID telah diidentifikasi dari studi literatur. Hambatan dari pengadopsian teknologi RFID dibagi menjadi dua (2) aspek yaitu hambatan dari aspek bisnis dan teknologi. Temuan dari studi ini meyakini bahwa manfaat dari pengadopsian teknologi RFID didominasi oleh manfaat yang bersifat intangible. Sebagian besar responden meyakini bahwa hambatan utama dari pengadopsian teknologi RFID adalah: (1) kompleksnya teknologi RFID, (2) ketiadaan informasi yang lengkap dan valid, (3) tidak tersedianya anggaran yang cukup. Detail dari hasil studi dan implikasinya akan didiskusikan selanjutnya. Kata kunci: Pengadopsian teknologi RFID, Rumah sakit, Indonesia, Eksploratori.

Abstract

As the largest archipelago nation in the world, Indonesia’s logistics system has not shown excellence according to the parameters of logistics performance index and based on logistics costs percentages from overall GDP. This is due to the imbalances of trading on the western and eastern regions in Indonesia, which impacts the transportation systems costs to and from the eastern regions. Therefore, it is imperative to improve the competitiveness of Indonesian maritime logistics through maritime logistics network design. This research will focus on three levels of decision making in logistics network design, which include type of ships in the strategic level, shipping routes in the tactical level, and container allocation in the operational level with implementing butterfly routes in Indonesia’s logistics networking problems. Furthermore, this research will analyze the impact of Pendulum Nusantara and Sea Toll routes against the company profits and percentages of containers shipped. This research will also foresee how demand uncertainties and multi-period planning should affect decision making in designing the Indonesian Liner Shipping Network.

Abstract

Two-sided assembly lines balancing problems are important problem for large-sized products such as cars and buses, in which, tasks operations can be performed in the two sides of the line. In this paper, Harmony Search algorithm is proposed to solve two-sided assembly lines balancing problems type-I (TALBP-I). The proposed method adopts the COMSOAL heuristic and specific features of TALBP in the Harmony operators – the harmony memory consideration, random selection and pitch adjustment – in order to maintain the local and global search. The proposed method is evaluated based on 6 benchmark problems that are commonly used in TALBP. The experiment results show that the proposed method work well and produces better solution than the heuristic method and genetic algorithm.

Abstract

Outsourcing applications have widely used and regarded as a primary strategic mana­ge­ment tool by firms. However, particularly in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) indus­try, most companies have at least once declined from a renewing contract with the same service provider. There have not been any studies regarding risk management in a buyer-supplier relation­ship in multinational companies (MNCs) from developed countries operating in an emerging country, particularly in Indonesia. The purpose of this qualitative study is to find out how MNCs in the FMCG sector in Indonesia choose their suppliers, risk perceived, and how they manage their relationship with different suppliers to ensure their performance. Buyer's previous experience, time/cost pressure, and company's culture proved to influence companies in selecting suppliers. Key risks perceived by companies mainly regarding unperformed suppliers, supplier's opportunistic behaviour, and unstable economic/political condition. To ensure a supplier's perfor­mance, companies need to set different relationship positioning for each activity outsourced through a proper type of contract and aligned performance measurement. Moreover, a formal supplier rating has not found in all companies, let alone supplier development initiatives.

The simple defect means, that the defect can be detected via image histogram or via wavelet of the image histogram. Abstract

In this paper we mapped the location of Pneumonia disease in Surabaya. We also analyse the survival of the afflicted and predict the spread of the disease using Kriging. The study reveals that after 45 days in the hospital, the survival of the Pneumonia’s patients decrease to 46.8%. Moreover, the centers of this disease are in Tubanan and Sukomanunggal Both of these regions are in West Surabaya which also is an industrial part of the city.

Abstract

We enhanced DFSS Characterize and Optimize Phases to deal with multiple and functional response optimization. The enhancement basically starts with a development of functional meta-models of CAE outputs that are fast-to-compute and accurate enough within a certain design space. Having developed the multiple and functional meta-models, the influence of design variables to the functional responses are then obtained via visualization and sensitivity analysis based on Sobol's index. Multi-objective optimization is finally applied to search for design variable settings that give optimal functional responses. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Di artikel ini kita memperkaya fase-fase Characterize and Optimize dari design for six sigma (DFSS) methodology untuk bisa menyelesaikan rekayasa produk dan proses kompleks yang mengandung banyak respons fungsional. Pemerkayaan dimulai dengan pembangunan meta-model fungsional dari keluaran computer aided engineering (CAE) yang diperoleh lewat rancangan eksperimental. Kemudian, dilanjutkan dengan pembangunan sebuah algoritma untuk mengidentifikasi tingkat pengaruh dari variabel-variable rancangan ke respons fungsional secara visual maupun analitis. Akhirnya, optimasi multi obyektif diterapkan untuk mencari nilai-nilai variabel design yang mampu memberikan respons fungsional secara optimal dan tangguh. Kata-kunci: perancangan berbasis komputer, response fungsional.

Abstract

According to the survey to the wheelchair users in Surabaya, it is found that 70% of the respondents want to have activities inside or outside their home independently. Therefore, a wheelchair that can satisfy their requirements is on demand. In this research we used an integrated product development to design a wheelchair. We simulated the ergonomic design by a method so called RULA for static load 150 kg. This proposed wheelchair is an ergonomic wheelchair. It is a wheelchair, that satisfies the safety regulations. By using a joystick, a user can control the wheelchair to move forward and backward, to set the seat up and down as convenience as they want to. We hope that this wheelchair can help the physical handicaps to move more freely and have more activities than before. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Hasil kuisioner yang disebarkan ke pemakai kursi roda di kota Surabaya pada akhir 2005 dan awal 2006 menunjukkan bahwa 70% reponden tidak menginginkan lagi didampingi oleh seorang pemandu para saat mereka beraktifitas di dalam maupun di luar rumah. Sehingga, sebagai transportasi yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh penderita cacat kaki, kursi roda perlu untuk dikembangkan berdasarkan permintaan dan keinginan mereka. Pada makalah ini akan dipaparkan metode pengembangkan kursi roda yang didasarkan pada metode pengembangan produk terintegrasi. Melalui analisa kekuatan material pada beban statis 150 kg dan simulasi kenyamanan dengan metode RULA, dapat dirancang sebuah kursi roda yang aman dan nyaman, dapat bergerak maju mundur, tempat duduk dapat naik turun serta seluruh gerakannya dikontrol sendiri oleh pemakai kursi roda. Pengembangan kursi roda ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan ruang gerak penderita cacat kaki dalam beraktifitas. Kata kunci: kursi roda, transportasi, aman, nyaman, simulasi, RULA.

Abstract

Vehicle routing problem (VRP) is a model to determine an optimal routing plan for a fleet of homogeneous vehicles to serve a set customer which some operational constraints are satisfied. In most practical distribution problems, customer demands are served using heterogeneous fleet of vehicles. This kind of VRP is called Heterogeneous Vehicle Routing Problem (HVRP). HVRP has evolved into a rich research area because of its practical. There were many studies of rich extensions of the standar HVRP. This research aims to enrich the extentions of HVRP which is motivated by real case in one of pharmacy distribution company in Indonesia which is delivered multi-products to its 55 customers by allowing some vehicles which has small capacity to perform multi-trips. This problem is called Heterogeneous Vehicle Routing Problem with Multi-Trips and Multi-Products (HVRPMTMP).The mixed integer linear programming is developed based on four-index vehicle flow formulation. The model can be used generally in the same context of distribution problem. HVRPMTMP is generally NP-Hard problem, so the computational time using branch and bound in LINGO 16.0 is increasing exponentially by increasing the number of customers. Genetic algorithm is proposed to solve the real case. The result of the proposed GA can reduce the total cost from Rp 352540.6,- to Rp 180555,- or 48.78% from the current company policy.
