Abstract

This study aims to explore marriage between Indonesian women and the western men (laki-laki bule) from western culture and to describe the meaning of role and position of Indonesian women married with western men. Individual perspective on the role and gender position in marriage life is mostly influenced by neighbours, community, and family. The process of interpreting the role and gender position for Indonesian women is a part of community construction. This research deploys phenomenological perspective, particularly symbolic interactionism and the theory of the social construction of reality. Data have been collected by in-depth interviews and observation to seven Indonesian women married to western men in Jakarta selected through snowball sampling. This research found a construction meaning model related to the role and position of Indonesian women doing mix marriage. Through interaction with their husband, the informants define their role and position in marriage life which is inline with equality principle done by their husband including four different equality meaning, such as partial equality, natural equality, absolute equality, and pragmatic equality. The contribution of this study is to provide a model of construction of meaning on the role and position of Indonesian women doing mixed marriage in family and community.

Abstract

This study attempts to describe the strategy and the distribution pattern of “Ngamen” cinema in Yogyakarta. The research methodology that is used is qualitative descriptive with data collection through in-depth interviews involving an offender of cinema in Yogyakarta, the literature study and relevant documents. This study found that was the film community as the basis distributor of short film or alternate in Yogyakarta. This community can come from campus and outside campus. In a line distribution filmmaker of Yogyakarta play the movie from one place to another place by the festival playback on a campus and screening outside campus. The development of the internet technology made it easier for in search of a sac culture and decent it can be used the movie. Through the internet on filmmaker of Yogyakarta looking for another film community who were willing to roll the the movie.

Abstract

The development and advancement of technology affects how man interacts with others. The revolution of society interaction which was proposed by Straubhaar and LaRose, from pre-farming society to a farming society, into an industrial society, which was marked by the label of industrial revolution, to the information society, which is marked by the information revolution, shifted the way and man’s attitudes both in terms of economy and interaction. In the information society, the revolution also takes place in message delivery, where face-to-face was common at first, to textual and visual delivery, which is a change in the internet era.

Abstract

The presence of gadgets mainly in the form of smartphones has much to contribute in everyday life, as a media gadget information search, interacting, get entertained, even for the purpose of online business activities for today is widely used among students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This study aimed to describe the motives of use gadgets as online business promotion tool among students UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The research approach uses qualitative approach with descriptive qualitative method, focus of research is the use of gadgets motivation among students. Respondent with purposive sampling. The research found patterns of use gadgets as a means of business promotion online, such as, First, the use of gadgets are considered more convenient, easy and simple to do promotions, Second, Online Business is suitable for small businesses run by selling a variety of products. Third, Doing business online using a gadget or self-awareness initiative of informants in sufficient portion of the needs as well as training yourself to be an independent figure.

Abstract

Power works in a network where each actor in it is always in a position of power to run and run. Power can not be owned, but circulated, disseminated each other, and exchanged in a wide distribution network. Each of these actors want to remain in the circulation of inter-and intra network so as to follow the current is to survive. Decentralization efforts the network has changed the balance of political power. However, forms of social network communication technology today, although it has tremendous value to be used as power and political consolidation, also risk a backlash. Decentralized system that exists today, in some ways has a crack and centralized, in some aspects still looks centralized: they are too vulnerable to state retaliation and control.

Abstract

When Indonesia entering the political reform, in the 1998, there’s a strong demand for government to give a better public service. One reason that can support that hope is a bureaucracy reform. But the power shift in the reform era cannot give a good public service as people needed. The most reason is that the communication behavior of the leader in that political situation, trapped in the top down shape. In the mechanic society pattern is difficult to develop a good public services.

Abstract

This research reviewed ritual communication in Garebeg ceremony in Yogyakarta Palace. The Garebeg ceremonies were being held in Muslim celebrations such as of Eid al- Fitr (Garebeg   Shawwal), Eid al- Adha (Garebeg large), Maulud Prophet (Garebeg   Mulud). Garebeg  ceremonies identically with Paredes  (Gunungan), which means Yogyakarta Palace keeps the tradition and the ancestors cultural by providing Paredes to communities. This Research uses Constructivist Paradigm and Ethnographic Communication method, especially method of Speaking by Dell Hymes. The purpose of this study to determine the value of norms, attitudes and belief system of the people in the Yogyakarta Palace on Garebeg ceremony. The ritual of Javanese culture, as well as the nature and meaning of communication rituals in ceremonies Garebeg, also know the variety of communication in Garebeg ceremony. The results are seven communication phenomenon such as Tumplak Wajik, Yasa Paredes, Gladen, Garebeg Paredes, Ngabekten, Sekaten and Garebeg Mulud Dal. This research’s contributions are three communication pattern which is hijab Salem, tanda yekti and syiar Islam. This research contributes to give insight about communication patterns and ritual processions in Garebeg ceremony.

Abstract

Popularity of social media have grown since the early of 2000. They have eased people in exchanging information and sustaining relationship. In addition, social media have become an alternative for news distribution and consumption. One of popular social media platforms is Facebook in which many media organizations have utilized it as a medium for sharing information including news to provide up-to-date information, to increase article views, as well as to increase website traffics to visit their news portals. This research attempted to investigate the influence of Facebook usage towards reading interest at news portal merdeka.com, a study in North Cikarang. Theory used in this study wasUses and Gratification and the method was quantitative in nature. The data were collected through questionnaires for 100 respondents and SPSS 20 was employed to process the data. The result has shown that Facebook usage influenced 30.6% towards reading interest at news portal merdeka.com and the regression coefficient values obtained in this study was Y= 5.489 + 0.575X. In short, Facebook as a publication medium used by merdeka.com has successfullyincreasedreading interest to its news portal.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the communication strategy of marketing through public relations approach between hotel and community. The model used in this study is a Public Relations strategy planning model of Cutlip, Center & Broom (2009). Method used in this research is descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected by doing participatory observation, in-depth interviews, documentary studies and triangulation. Data wrere analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, conclusion and verification. Result shows that the PR strategy planning model proposed by Cutlip, Center & Broom can support this research.
