Abstract

This article explores journalism ethics, credibility and objectivity on contemporary journalism platforms (blog, online journalism and citizen journalism) by case study of Ohmynews— a citizen journalism developed in South Korea. To answer the challenge of citizen journalism in relation with credibility and objectivity on contemporary journalism, at least there are three solutions. First, by developing education and training for citizen journalism. Second, by building collaboration between professional journalism and citizen. Third, in their task, journalist must based on nine journalism elements. So, media idealism as social control and education for society can be practiced

Abstract

Symbols of local culture especially Nias on TVC (Television Commercial) Kuku Bima Ener-G, version of “Let’s Travel to North Sumatra” from PT. Sidomuncul. Authors conducted a case study of the culture that campaigned Sidomuncul advertising through television media. The study was conducted using a critical research paradigm, which aim uncover Nias cultural symbols in the TVC of products Kuku Bima Ener-G PT Sidomuncul. The results suggested that the symbols used for Nias cultural values embodied in these symbols siding with the values espoused by Sidomuncul.

Abstract

This study sought to look at the fact that twitter can shape one’s personal branding, then on the basis of this research is compiled on how the analysis elaboration likelihood model in the formation of personal branding in social media. The method used in this research is quantitative content analysis method. The study population was the whole text or tweets made by Ridwan Kamil through his twitter account (@ridwankamil). This study shows, twitter contents can shape one’s personal branding. Establishment of personal branding can be done through posts made in his twitter. The formation of personal branding is seen from the theme of writing, retweet and favorite number, type of writing, the uniqueness of writing and writing direction. Establishment of personal branding is required by a person not only through the writings conveyed through the media, but also the need for real action participation and involvement in community life.

Abstract

Public relations is one of the elements that determine the viability of an organization positively. The purpose of the research; 1). Knowing the planning public relations strategies in support of marketing; 2). Knowing the kinds of public relations activities; 3). Knowing the packaging contents of the message of the communication media used; 4). Knowing the effect to be achieved; and 5). Knowing the obstacles faced. The method used descriptive qualitative. Results of the study are: 1. Judging from the background criteria for Public Relations of PT. PLN (Persero) APJ Cirebon is formal education, job experience, appearance, skills, individual characteristics, and adaptation, credible communicator. 2. Kegiatan Public Relations to support the marketing of which the existence of a local radio talk show in Cirebon (Cirebon FM), a local television talk show in Cirebon (RCTV), cooperation in carrying out tasks related to corporate law. 3. Packaging persuasive message content, preparation of informative messages are intended to provide excitement and build consumer understanding. 4. The effect achieved a change in opinions, attitudes and behavior. 5. Barriers found limited use of communication media and the lack of communication superiors and subordinates

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to identify the local people believe in current information or traditional information of the natural disaster of Merapi mountain in Central Java as one of the mostactive volcanoes in the world. Concept use is information and natural disaster. The research uses post-positivist paradigm with the survey, interview, and observation for data gathering regarding the big eruption in 2010. The results show more than half of local people believe in traditional information than modern information regarding the natural disaster. The differences of local people believe are base on the level of education, age and the role in public. Local citizen believes to traditional information mostly are old people their education background from the elementary level, and has no role in public.On the other hand for the local citizen that believe to modern information are young people, from middle-level education and some of them has a role in public.The perception of traditional information occurs since the old people have some experiences of last volcanic eruption, and more listen to the people they closed and less of literation regarding disaster mitigation. The differences of belief to both traditional and modern information are not statistically significant is an opportunity for integrating traditional and modern information for disaster risk reduction. This research contributes to give insight of the difference of traditional  and modern information on disaster events.

Abstract

Mass media after the era of reform becomes the mass communication facility and instrument shaper of public opinion , it is helping in human life to exchanging ideas, sharing of experience and information in the volume of a relatively large. This research aims to understand planning, organizing, mobilizing and supervision in the management of editorial on daily newspaper of Radar Cirebon. A method of this research is descriptive qualitative, data was gathered by direct interview, observasion and availability of literature studies. Based on covered can be drawn conclusions that ( 1 ) In the planning stages, daily newspaper of Radar Cirebon well to plan, it is seen from the success of meeting and a meeting of the editor. ( 2 ) the organizing stages, the editor management has forming the organization structure and their duty to each personel.( 3 ) The mobilization phase is very important to editor management in daily newspaper of Radar Cirebon, because of mobilizarion, the management of material goes well, start from the reporting process, writing, editing till becoming the news. (4) In the phase supervision in editorial management of daily newspaper of Radar Cirebon conducted in the form of direct briefing to reporters during a news manuscript edited by the editor still experiencing a shortage of data.

Abstract

My aim in writing this paper is to describe that in this fast-changing world, media in Indonesia has undergone a rapid transformation. Digital technology continues to reshape the mass media landscape using internet technology. Internet brings a technical communication revolution, a fundamental change takes place in the structure of connections, artificial memories and the reproduction of their content. Internet technology has made communication much easier and less expensive. It has attracted many people and has penetrated into people’s daily lives. The mass media also have accepted the internet. Almost all forms of traditional media (old media) in local media, such as radio, television, and newspaper have extended their work into this new field. The internet and the World Wide Web have both significantly influenced modern journalism. In online media allows readers to enjoy browsing their product and service of contents, such as news feed, podcasts, desktop alert, news on mobile phones, PDA and others mobile devices. Online media offer not only text but also digital images , audio file, moving images (video), internet radio and internet t v. The interactive features of the internet seemingly imply that online media have more advantages than traditional media forms (old media). So, the internet have dramatically evolved become new media with characteristic multimedia, hypertext, interactivity, archives , and virtuality. The most important structural new media characteristic is the integration of telecommunications, data communications and mass communication in a single medium – it is the convergence. It should be pointed out that the trend toward digital is affecting the various media and brings the local media in East Java to become a global media, where breaking news from Surabaya or anywhere in East Java is transmitted to around the world in a matter of minutes . The research was carried out to find out how user reception on convergence media, journalism and local media on the site of SuaraSurabaya.net and how to access subjective meanings that they have created based on t heir understanding on online media so far. The research is also interested in looking into user reception on information and communication technology based on its relevance with the selected theme namely discourses on global media in website of Radio Suara Surabaya.

Abstract

The existence of Islamic boarding school (pesantren) can’t be separated from the figure of a clerics (kyai) and the communication between clerics and students (santri). Using qualitative research approach, this study aims to to prepare, understand and analyze communication models between clerics and students in Pesantren Raudhatul Qur’an An-Nasimiyyah. Communication Model between clerics and students in Islamic boarding school is influenced by the concept of Morals, status and charisma of clerics. Moral education is a way to establish communication that facilitates management of transfer of knowledge to students. Status and charisma of clerics are enhancer factor communicator legitimacy in the context of Islamic boarding school. The research concludes that the construction of communications models of clerics and students was formed by high-intensity interactions between clerics and students.
