Abstract

Cleanliness is an essential factor in supporting health programs in Indonesia, one of which is handwashing with soap (CTPS). The application of CTPS in everyday life in the community is able to prevent various diseases. Knowledge of CTPS among the elderly is still relatively low and is often neglected. Meanwhile, the highest number of deaths by age in Indonesia is at the age of 60 years (elderly) due to a drastic decline in the immune system in the group. Therefore, increasing knowledge of CTPS in the elderly and education in the health sector is necessary. The main objective of this community service program was to improve the attitudes, knowledge, and skills of the elderly in social institutions in maintaining health, especially on hygiene. Accordingly, this is expected to increase life expectancy for the elderly. The methods in this service program were through tutorials and mentoring practices. This community service activity was conducted for the elderly at the Tresna Werdha Teratai Social Home in Palembang. The results were reflected by the enthusiasm of the elderly participants who attended. The result showed the improved posttest score in the average knowledge of the elderly from the initial score of 54 to 71 points. Increasing the knowledge and skills of the elderly towards CTPS can be applied in everyday life, thereby reducing susceptibility to various diseases.

Abstract

The majority of tourism objects in East Java still rely on artificial and nature-based tourism. As a result, there is an impression that the potential in the society in art and culture has not been optimized for the tourism industry. This service was intended in the context of optimization through exploring the potential of art and culture to support the tourism industry in East Java. This service also aimed to produce mapping data on the potential of cultural arts in the context of creating a directory of arts and culture in Malang Raya. Malang Raya will be used as a pilot project before it can be developed throughout East Java. The data collection method was focused on field studies based on the study of the PPKD (Pokok Pikiran Kebudayaan Daerah) documents for each region, while focus group discussions (FGDs) and field observations were also conducted. The results of the community service program showed that the potential of Malang Raya culture and arts could be compiled online and included in the PPKD mapping document.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has occurred in the world has spread to Indonesia. Caused by the Covid-19 pandemic only on the health aspect but also on the social and economic aspects the impact not only has an impact on increasing problems. This problem is also experienced by the people of Ngapus Village. Ngapus village is a village prone to landslides. Most of the people in Ngapus Village work as farmers. The level of community education is low, namely elementary and junior high school graduates so that the income level of the community in Ngapus Village is still below the average. With the Covid-19 pandemic, it will certainly increase the poverty level in this village to a high level. Women like women in other villages also rose up and played a role in overcoming the socio-economic problems of the family. In helping to meet the needs of the family sometimes experience stress so it is necessary to make mental health efforts, especially at the family level. This program aims to help improve the mental health condition and preparedness of Ngapus Village residents. The method used to achieve this goal is through non-formal education for women, this is easier for the Dasawisma group because they are a vulnerable group. The implementation of community development is carried out through non-formal education, namely training carried out with lectures, discussions, practices and assistance to Mrs. Dasawisma, namely health about covid-19 and trauma healing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to training on making herbal drinks. The results of the implementation of this community development program are an increase in the knowledge and skills of mothers in the mental health of Dasawisma and an increase in preparedness in the field of mental, social and economic health during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Perkembangan zaman tentu akan mempengaruhi aktivitas kehidupan manusia dari berbagai tipe, strata sosial, latar belakang geofisik, budaya, dan tingkat aksesibilitas. Permasalahan kompleks yang dihadapi masyarakat dalam memenuhi kebutuhan hidup merupakan derivasi dari kondisi tersebut. Tuntutan kebutuhan yang semakin hari semakin kompleks, sementara kondisi lingkungan tidak mendukung akan menjadikan kehidupan masyarakat terbatas dan sulit untuk menyesuaikan dengan perubahan zaman yang sedang terjadi. Berangkat dari fenomena kondisi masyarakat di atas, maka tidak ada kata lain yang dapat dikatakan dan dilakukan, selain MEMBANTU. Perguruan tinggi merupakan suatu Lembaga Pendidikan yang berisi kumpulan kaum, cendekia dengan berbagai kompetensi yang dimiliki, dan sumberdaya yang cukup dapat dan harus memberikan BANTUAN. Terlebih Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah dan Aisyiyah (PTMA) yang dilandasi dan digerakkan dengan Teologi Al Maun dalam aktivitasnya. Bantuan yang diberikan dapat dilakukan melalui salah satu program Catur Dharma PTMA, yakni Pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Program Pengabdian Masyarakat merupakan implementasi dari riset/penelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh dosen dalam memberikan bantuan kepada masyarakat, baik materiil maupun spiritual. Bantuan dalam bentuk pendampingan akan dapat mengantarkan masyarakat menjadi BERDAYA, sehingga dengan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan yang telah diadopsi diharapkan perlahan-lahan masyarakat akan mampu menolong dirinya sendiri.Berbagai program pengabdian kepada masyarakat telah dilakukan oleh dosen dengan latar belakang kompetensi keilmuan yang beragam memberikan hasil dan perubahan yang bermakna dalam kehidupan masyarakat dari berbagai latar belakang. Capaian program dan kegitan pengabdian masyarakat oleh dosen perlu ditularkan dan disebar-luaskan kepada masyarakat yang lebih luas, agar lebih bermanfaat. Penyebar-luasan capaian program pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan melalui proses diseminasi, baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. BERDIKARI hadir dalam rangka melakukan diseminasi praktik baik dari capaian program pengabdian dosen berbagai tema program, mitra, lokasi, dan kondisi sosial serta budaya. Edisi kali ini menyuguhkan pengalaman pemberdayaan masyarakat dengan beberapa tema, yakni pendidikan, kesehatan, ekonomi dan pariwisata kreatif, pengelolaan sumberdaya desa dan pengelolaan jenazah.Tema Pendidikan, banyak dibahas tentang metode pembelajaran, teknologi pendukung pembelajaran, dan pendukung literasinya. Sehat jasmani dan rohani sangat diperlukan agar manusia dapat beraktivitas dalam kehidupannya dengan baik dan sukses. Program bidang kesehatan diarahkan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan masyarakat dalam menjaga kesehatan secara mandiri. Implementasi program dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan edukasi, dengan harapan masyarakat mampu berdaya dan berswadaya untuk menjaga kesehatannya. Masyarakat yang sehat mampu berkreasidengan berbagai aktivitas. Salah satunya, mengembangkan ekonomi kreatif dan juga pariwisata. Capaian program pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan fokus ekonomi kreatif dan pariwisata diulas secara rinci pada edisi ini, dengan harapan dibaca, dipahami, dan akhirnya dapat direplikasikan secara luas di masyarakat. Praktik baik lainnya dari hasil program pengabdian masyarakat oleh dosen, yaitu pengelolaan administrasi dan keuangan desa. Data kependudukan, dan pengelolaan dana desa merupakan dua hal penting yang harus dikelola dengan benar dan bertanggungjawab. Mengingat pentingnya hal itu, maka edisi ini juga menguraikan tata kelola administrasi dan keuangan desa yang didukung oleh teknologi informasi menjadi solusi yang baik. Apa pun yang dicapai oleh masyarakat tentu harus diorientasikan pada kehidupan selanjutnya yang abadi. Tiap makhluk Allah yang bernyawa pasti melalui kematian untuk menuju alam keabadian. Kematian sesorang dapat menjadi permasalahan yang tidak ringan, terutama dalam pengelolaan jasad, belum lagi tidak banyak orang yang paham dan berani. Mengingat pentingnya urusan terkait pengelolaan jenazah, maka BERDIKARI kali ini menyajikan hasil pengabdian dosen secara runtut dan mudah dipahami.Akhirnya, semoga paparan hasil pengabdian dosen yang dimuat dalam BERDIKARI edisi Agustus 2021 ini dapat memberikan tambahan pengetahuan yang bermanfaat.Salam Pengabdian - Salam Berdikari

Abstract

Environmental conservation is a shared responsibility for the government, private companies, and the community. One of the efforts to protect the environment is to pay attention to waste disposal. Household contribution to waste generation ranks first compared to other sectors. Therefore, efforts should be made to develop public awareness of waste management. The implementation of the service program aimed to build awareness and management of waste originating from household activities. The methods in the community service program were through tutorials and mentoring. The results of the program showed that the community’s more concerned and aware of the importance of waste management. The main indicator of improved community concern was the establishment of the “Kluwih Resik” Waste Bank.

Abstract

The village fund law has mandated the government to allocate village funds for the welfare of the community in the village. Public understanding of the importance of accountability must be reported to the state is the main focus of this community service activity. This empowerment activity aimed to increase public understanding of the management and reporting funds in the Kebonsari Village, Candi, Sidoarjo Village. The program applied to learn by doing method in the form of practical learning. Activities were carried out in stages, including gathering information, implementing socialization training, mentoring, monitoring the management, and reporting activity funds for the community. The results showed an increase in the understanding and ability of community members in managing and reporting community activity funds in Kebonsari Village with entrepreneurial activities (salted eggs), handicrafts (Sayangan), and animal husbandry (Bebek Village). A total of 17 people out of 21 residents felt the beneficial impact of the activities was shown by the level of community satisfaction. Therefore, this activity should be promoted further with a different focus according to the problems found in the community to maintain and improve accountability culture by upholding the values of integrity and transparency in the management and reports of village funds in the future.

Abstract

The elderly group in Bantul Regency is about 8.4% of the total population. This number is quite significant and needs attention from the government because these elders are vulnerable. Physical weakness makes the elderly group experience vulnerability in terms of health. This situation was worsened by the low public awareness about health. The same condition also occurred in Sawahan Hamlet, Pendowoharjo, Sewon, Bantul. Accordingly, to overcome this condition, routine checks should be carried out. The government has provided adequate public health centers to maintain the health of the elderly in each sub-district. However, the patient load of each puskesmas and the distance to the puskesmas become undeniable obstacles, especially in the elderly group with decreased motor skills. For this reason, efforts were made to bring health checks closer to the community, especially the elderly, by encouraging people who have the ability to carry out routine health checks. The purpose of this community service program was to increase public awareness and knowledge, especially the elderly, of the importance of regular health checks. The methods applied in program implementation were tutorials as a medium of education and mentoring. The results showed that the elderly are more aware and willing to carry out regular and continuous examinations.

Abstract

Islam teaches that every human being will experience death. The obligation of a Muslim to a Muslim who dies is fard kifayah, meaning that if some Muslims have carried it out, then the obligations have finished. These obligations are bathing, shrouding, praying and burying the dead. Women’s bodies must be treated specifically by the female coroner’s team. Hamlet Kembaran already has several ladies who are active in the care of corpses, despite the limited number. Accordingly, it affects the treatment of female corpses, where they are often assisted and guided by male coroners. Thus, more female mortuary teams are necessary with the knowledge, skills and independence in caring for women’s corpses and psychological assistance for bereaved families through the formation of a women’s mortuary team in the Kembaran hamlet. The program aimed to increase the knowledge and skills of the women’s congregation in the care (rukti) of women’s bodies through tutorials and practices. The implementation of the methods was carried out online using video tutorials and practices. The participants were 30 women, members of the Babul Jannah recitation, who were willing to take part in the training. The training was carried out for one month by a service team with religious and psychological expertise. Also, the videos and modules were created by the team. The training was carried out online through the Whatsapp group by providing material in the form of modules, presentation slides and videos of corpse care practices. The results of this community service program indicated that the knowledge, skills and behavior of the women’s congregation improved significantly, and they are ready to practice the care (rukti) of women’s bodies independently.

Abstract

The establishment and socialization of Sekaput Reading Corner to increase public interest in reading at coffee shops in Pangkalpinang City is a joint effort to increase literacy and reading interest among coffee lovers since coffee shops do not usually provide a reading corner. This program aimed to improve people’s literacy skills with the support of the Sekaput Reading Corner. At the same time, this program brought reading materials closer to the community while being at the coffee shop. The case observation method was used during the implementation of this program. Accordingly, the program involved 15 coffee shops by providing a reading corner stimulus to 5 selected coffee shops. The results showed approximately 80% of coffee shop customers gave a good response to the Sekaput Reading Corner in the coffee shops. Reflecting on the results, in the future, Sekaput Reading Corner can be applied in every coffee shop by moving from place to place.

Abstract

In general, housewives have a lot of free time that can be used for more effective activities. For this reason, it is necessary to strive for an activity that can be carried out by housewives that have economic value to provide additional family income. This community service activity aimed to improve skills of textile crafts for housewives who are members of the Integrated Entrepreneurship Development community. These skills are a provision for entrepreneurship so that members can have craft products and can market the results of the macrame crafts through an online shop. The service activity was carried out to facilitate housewives who have a strong desire to be able to help the family economy. The activity used the lecture method, learning by doing, and discussion. This training was guided by makrame craftsmen with the assistance of the committee. The service activity was carried out at the East Jakarta Creative Gathering Place. The result of this activity was that participants could make makrame bags and understand the marketing process through the online shop. This training received a positive response and assessment from the participants.
