Abstract

This article is a museum study from an anthropological perspective. Generally, the museum is an institution that stores and preserves particular material cultures. On the other side, a museum can also be critically seen as a space for the production of cultural discourse that narrates a particular ideology through exhibition strategies and display systems. This study wants to explore the discourse of cultural ideology that is represented by the museum through the design and exhibition. The museum is no longer only monopolized by the state but also developed by the private sector which offers a fusion model between the museum, edutainment, and amusement park. Thus, this article proposes a case study of the Museum Angkut in Batu, East Java, one of the most popular private museums in Indonesia that exhibits transportation system and world civilization themes assembled by implementing amusement park concepts.  This article would like to address the issue of the production of cultural discourse. The research questions are what kind of cultural discourse production is narrated in the Museum Angkut, and how has it been materialized through the display strategy? Additionally, this article explores the relationship of the visitor with material objects in the museum. This paper uses a hermeneutic approach, and Michael Foucault’s heterotopia to examine how cultural imagination with its ideology is represented in museum bodies. As a result, we argue that the Museum Angkut can reflect the character of society, as a post-colonial nation in the sense of seeing self and other cultures.

As a result, this PM activity reveals the diversification of potential tourism sites which can be classified into five categories: (1) religious and cultural tourism (RCT), (2) special interest tourism (SIT), (3) agro-tourism (AT), (4) home industry tourism (HIT), and (5) educational tourism (ET). Moreover, this diversification can give significant contributions in developing tourism planning programs based on the CBT perspective aiming to empower local communities.

Multicultural reality of Indonesian society has encouraged many conflicts. Many people have tried to create a multicultural atmosphere. The scholars, politicians, and security forces attempted in their respective fields there are theoretical, ideal, and practical. That is, it is not just being a condiment for flavoring the Kudus people dishes, but also already act as multicultural learning media. The good cooperation between the two ethnic groups, the Chinese as the owner of ketchup industries and their Javanese workers, clients, and customers have shown that these Ketchups has become one of the unifying elements that are commonly depicted always in a conflict; and  the latest event clashes between Chinese and pribumi at Kudus was in 1984. Abstract

Abstract

Kata-kata Kunci: Penguatan Manajemen Mutu, Universitas, Indonesia, Pendidikan Global

Abstract

Death is a part of the reality that will come to everyone. It is not a silly reality and it is not the reality that ends one’s life, instead the reality carries oneself to the two-dimensional new life. First, dimension of eternal life that is personally lived by oneself and at the same time related to theology and the religion studies. Second, the dimension of social life among the one’s living family and at the same time related to the realm of customs and culture. By the ethnographic methods, this research is more focused on tracing the practices of death rites to uncover the power of death to revive the community. The results of the research show that the death rites are aimed at the organization for better community to live together. Through the death rites, the relatives are asked to be introspective, open, and ready to reconcile with anyone not only with those who are directly in conflict, but also with all people who are potential for conflict as anticipatory actions.

Abstract

Even when the tourism industry in Indonesia has been devastated due to COVID-19 pandemic, this sector has not simply disappeared and succumbed. Some tourist destinations are still visited by tourists from big cities of Indonesia, although the numbers are not as much as before. Malang is a representative place to watch this phenomenon, there are certain moments where tourists still visit and have recreation there. This research questions what is the new or alternative pattern for people who continue to travel in the midst of a pandemic? This is interesting because previously the known tourism pattern was mass tourism (full of crowds and high mobility) which was difficult to do in the pandemic era. This research aims to identify the alternative (niche tourism) specifically its new patterns in the pandemic era in Malang, related to the form of attraction to the socio-demographic character of the tourist. In addition, it is also important to study how tourists view COVID-19 which allows them to travel. With the ethnographic method, this research seeks to find the appropriate new pattern for tourism development in Indonesia during a pandemic.

Abstract

Religious diversity has been one of the important aspects that require explicit regulation on UUD 1945. The implementation of this law is done continuously as a part of state responsibility in ensuring the religious life of its people. The Inter-faith Harmony Forum (FKUB) is regulated under the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religion and Minister of Home Affairs No. 9 and No. 8 of 2006 as a revision of the Two Ministerial Decree No. 1, 1969. FKUB becomes an official forum in the central, province, and district/city levels. This research aimed at revealing to what extent the honorable forum effectively carries out its mission. Qualitative ethnographic was employed from data collection to data processing method. The research results show that FKUB's effort to instill the value of religious diversity is not only challenged by the pluralistic society, but also by the government as the initiator of this forum.
