Abstract

The Azan is an important thing for Muslims as an Islamic ritual that marks the time of Salah, Islamic prayer. Besides being a marker of the time of Salah, it is as well as a marker time of fajr or dawn in the fasting of Ramadan. The Azan is known as an Early Azan which is done before the Azan time of Dawn Prayer. The Early Azan became a reminder to the Muslims who want to do night prayer and pre-dawn meal (meal between midnight and dawn during the fasting of Ramadan). In some parts of Indonesia, this Early Azan has routinely reverberated beyond the fasting of Ramadan. Among the people of Indonesia, the Early Azan beyond the Ramadan functions to wake up people who have not done early evening prayer and for night prayer at the end of the night. Of course, not all Islamic societies are familiar with Early Azan in the fasting of Ramadan. The question is, has it existed since the era of the Prophet Muhammad? so that it sourced from Hadith of the Prophet or the result of Ijtihad which then becomes a tradition for Muslims in Indonesia.

Abstract

Theodicy was born as a response to the problem of evil and its relationship to the power of God, and at the same time, as an assertion of Omnipotence, Omnibenevolence, and Omniscience of God. This article presents the interpretation of Frithjof Schuon's thought or Shaykh Isa Nur al-Din Ahmad as a Muslim thinker of the tradition of Perennialism philosophy that emphasizes universalism and esoterism. The article describes Schuon's principal thought concerning theodicy, especially how esoteric Islamic theodicy sees the nature of evil, the relationship of evil with the free will of humans and determination of God (predestination). Furthermore, this article tries to draw the extent to which esoterism is supportive and coherent with texts that are exoterically expressed in the Qur'an. Basically, esoteric Islamic theodicy parallels with the principle of Islamic mysticism. In the last part, this article tries to take the moral significance of the notions of esoteric Islamic theodicy.

Abstract

The Islamic law of inheritance has a very important position in the development of Islamic law. The Islamic law Scholars 'and Quranic Commentators discussed many of these issues, from the classical period to the present day. Philosophy with its three branches: ontology, epistemology, and axiology are often used as a method to understand the nature of something. This article presents the discussion on the philosophical perspective of Islamic law of inheritance in order to obtain a holistic understanding. The Islamic law of inheritance ontologically is the Shari'ah of Allah to the Muslims as the provisions that must be implemented in accordance with those contained in the Qur'an and Hadith. This Islamic law with its various provisions has a binding legal force for all Muslims to run it. Epistemologically, the Islamic law of inheritance is a series of provisions from Allah derived from the Qur'an, hadith, and ijtihad by Salaf scholars. Whereas axiologically, the  Islamic law of inheritance has a certain purpose i.e. granting heir rights to the heirs according to their proportions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyse the hadith about dowry in marriage. In this hadith, it is mentioned that one form of dowry is memorisation of the verses of the Qur'an, but that is said most recently after there is no more iron ring. An exciting phenomenon today is that the memorisation of the verses of the Koran is used for dowry marriages because it is a place for prestige, to make it look unique and different from the general public. This article will review more deeply the meaning of hadith related to marriage dowry from the perspective of hermeneutics Khaled M. Abou El-Fadl. Besides, this paper will explain the understanding of Muslims today about the traditions of marriage dowry with the memorisation of verses of the Qur'an. This research uses the hermeneutic method of hadith Khaled M. Abou El-Fadl. The findings of this study indicate that today Muslims understand the hadith related to memorising the Qur'an as a marriage dowry through a long process of negotiation and dialectics to influence their behaviour. The talk question is the occurrence of a dialogue between the surrounding culture, with the text of the hadith itself.

Abstract

Futurologists, since the 20th century, have predicted that the Indonesian nation will carry out a process of secularization, which makes the role of religion increasingly dominant in decision making, both in the social, economic, political and cultural spheres. The dominance of science and technology will shift to religious considerations in decision making in social life. Islamic education as a vehicle to teach that religion is a source of peace must make a transformative breakthrough, thus that Islamic values return to their basic framework. This article by philosophical study intends to trace the contribution of Sufism to Islamic education. It’s found that a conflict of understanding between the sharia and the essence of Sufism has resulted in a polytheism view. This happened because the inability to rationalize philosophical Sufism became mysticism. This inability to implicate the search for divine values only focuses on philosophical truth values, which leads to the dualism of truth between the sharia and the essence. In fact, these two paths of truth are integrated and united, thus contributing to the fortification of the formation of noble character in Islamic education.
