Abstract

Background: In the local context of South Sumatra, it is known that freshwater fish occupy important sociological and economic aspects. Placement of materials such as examples of belida fish, snakehead fish, betok fish and local species of fish from South Sumatra into the Morphometry course is something that will support the understanding of morphometry. The existence of this material will also meet the demands of the curriculum with contextual material. This study aims to explain the results of construct and material validation on the product of Morphometry subject teaching materials based on local Sumatran content. This research was conducted in the Biology Education Study Program. Methods: This type of research is descriptive qualitative using expert validation sheets. A validation sheet is given and an expert is assessed. Experts who provide assessments include material experts and constructivists. Validation includes aspects of the construct and material on the product of teaching materials.. Results: The validation results show that the results of the construct expert validation obtained 91.42% results and were declared valid/no need to be revised and the material expert validation results obtained 97.14% results and were declared valid/no need to be revised. Conclusions: Based on these results, it can be concluded that the product of teaching materials is declared valid by construct and material experts so that the product can be used for the next process. These results indicate that the teaching materials are in accordance with learning outcomes and can support the learning process of Morphometry Subjects.

Abstract

Background: Fungicolous fungi merupakan fungi mikro yang menghuni atau menempel pada fungi lain. Jamur ini dapat menembus daerah jaringan inang. Jamur fungicolous secara alami hidup pada inang di lapangan. Sphaerobolus stellatus basidioma ditemukan pada kayu busuk bersama dengan spesies lain seperti Ceratiomyxa arbuscula, Lentinus squarrosulus, Stemonitis pallida, dll. Banyak spesies jamur lain yang tidak muncul sebagai basidioma hidup di substrat atau bahkan di Sphaerobolus stellatus basidioma. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis fungicolous pada miselium Sphaerobolus stellatus menggunakan analisis molekuler. Metode: Miselium (sampel miselium SS) dipetik di lapangan dan dimasukkan ke dalam larutan CTAB. Kemudian, miselium diproses untuk identifikasi molekuler. DNA genom kemudian diamplifikasi menggunakan primer Internal Transcribed Spacer. Urutan dirakit dan dianalisis untuk uji homologi dalam NCBI BLAST. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan rekonstruksi pohon filogenetik untuk ketiga jenis pohon filogenetik tersebut. Mereka adalah Neighbor Joining oleh MEGA, Maximum Likelihood oleh MEGA, dan Randomized Axelarated Maximum Likelihood. Hasil: Pohon filogenetik terbaik berasal dari pohon filogenetik Randomized Axelarated Maximum Likelihood. SSmycelium diidentifikasi sebagai Nectriopsis rexiana dengan nilai BS 75%. Spesies tidak memiliki deskripsi morfologi, hanya sumber DNA, dan urutan ITS. Kesimpulan: Nectiropsis rexiana dikenal sebagai jamur parasit dan fungicolous pada jamur lain. Penelitian ini merupakan catatan pertama bahwa Nectriopsis rexiana ditemukan di Sphaerobolus stellatus.

Abstract

Background: Argumentation skill is a crucial ability to be possessed by students. Argumentation skills can be trained by applying a scientific approach during learning. The implementation of the scientific approach in schools can vary; it is suspected that one of the causes is the accreditation rating. The study aimed to determine the differences in the argumentation skill of high school students based on their accreditation rating. Methods: The research design used is the Ex-post Facto design. The sample in this study was sampled using the purposive sampling technique. Results:  There are differences in students' argumentation abilities between accreditation ratings of A, B, and C. Conclusions: Students' argumentation skill differs between high school students with accreditation ratings of A, B, and C. The difference in students' argumentation skills is caused by differences in the application of the scientific approach applied by teachers in each school.

Abstract

Background: Mantis shrimp is one of the favorite shrimp caught by fishermen around the estuary waters of Berombang River, Labuhanbatu Regency. This study aimed to determine the condition factors and growth patterns of mantis shrimp population. Method: Three station points were determined using a purposive random sampling method. The sampling of Harpiosquilla raphidea was carried out using trawl nets. The data analysis provided information on growth patterns and condition factors. Result: The results showed that the growth patterns of male H. raphidea belonged to the positive b> 3 allometric category, where weight growth was faster than carapace growth. Moreover, the growth patterns of female H. raphidea belonged to the negative b<3 allometric category, where the carapace growth was faster than body weight growth. The value of Fulton (K) condition factors for male H. raphidea ranged from 3.54 to 13.18, and for females, it ranged from 15.28 to 22.09. The value of correlation analysis of Physic-chemical parameters, water temperature (0.935) and DO (0.832) showed the high category correlation test results. Conclusion: This result showed that from November 2021 to January 2022, the condition of H. raphidea population around the estuary waters of Berombang River was known and predicted to be in the adult stage

Abstract

Background: Problem Solving is one of the 21st century skills that must be mastered by students. In biology learning, the ability of students to solve problems using their metacognitive skills to process information and knowledge to solve problems. This study aims to describe the relationship between metacognitive skills and problem-solving abilities in biology learning in class XI science. Methods: method used in this research is descriptive correlation. The sampling technique used Cluster Random Sampling with 52 sample. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire for metacognitive skills as many as 14 statement items with a Likert Scale and an essay test instrument for problem solving abilities as many as 6 questions. The data analysis technique was carried out with the help of the SPSS verse 24 program. Results: of the hypothesis test showed that the value of the correlation coefficient R was 0.123 > 0.05 which means there is no relationship, in the regression equation Y' = 43.6 + 0.245X indicates that the relationship is positive. . In the analysis of variance (F test) the calculated F value was 0.771 with a Significant of 0.384 > 0.05 which means that it is not significant. Conclusions :it can be said that Ha is rejected and Ho is accepted, there is no significant relationship between students' metacognitive skills and problem solving abilities in learning biology. This can be due to the distance learning process that is applied to students related to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.

Abstract

Background: Colchicine is a chemical mutagen that has been widely used to increase the viability of a plant. Most of the people of the North Central Timor (TTU) Regency still depend on local agricultural products, so one of the crops cultivated during the rainy season is local corn. This study aimed to determine the viability of local maize seeds in North Central Timor Regency and the appropriate concentration of colchicine to increase local maize germination. Methods: used in this research is an experimental method that gives colchicine treatment to 3 local corn varieties. The colchicine used was 0% (control), 40%, and 60%. The viability parameters observed were maximum growth potential (PTM), germination capacity (DB), and vigor index (IV). Results: showed that there were variations in the measurement of viability parameters observed both at maximum growth potential (PTM JBa 16,6%, JBu 35%, JKa 10%, JKu 8,33%), germination (DB 70%, JBu 81,66%, JKa 60%, JKu 61,66%) and vigor index (IV 68,33%, JBu 78,33%, JKa 63,33%, JKu 68,33%). Conclusions: the appropriate concentrations of colchicine to increase local corn germination were 40% and 60%, respectively. This can be seen in the viability parameters that show differences, namely the maximum growth potential (PTM) of flower corn with a colchicine concentration of 40%, which is 35%, the germination capacity (DB) of flower corn with a colchicine concentration of 60%, which is 90%, and the vigor index (IV) of flower corn. The concentration of colchicine 60% is 90%.

Abstract

Background: Science Process Skills (SPS) is a skill that facilitates students to find realities, decide on ideas and apply theory to daily existence. Textbooks in North Sumatra are assorted, and the availability of SPS aspects is not widely known. This study aims to determine the availability of SPS aspects in the most widely used high school textbooks in senior high school in one of city in North Sumatera. Methods: This study used content analysis research. The samples were purposive sampling using the most widely used books in state high schools in Binjai City. The data analysis technique in this study includes quantitative and qualitative. Qualitative data analysis was carried out by identifying the emergence of SPS aspects in the analyzed textbooks. Meanwhile, quantitative data analysis is carried out by calculating the frequency and Percentage of occurrences of SPS aspects in biology textbooks. Results: The results showed that the high school biology textbook class 10 was appropriate in providing aspects of science process skills in Ecosystem material. Book A provides 80% of all aspects of science process skills and book B provides 60% of all aspects of observed science process skills. Conclusions: of this study can be used as a reference for teachers in choosing textbooks that will be used as learning resources in facilitating SPS. Abstract

Background: This study aims to determine the effect of the blended learning model on the creative thinking ability of high school students on biotechnology materials at SMA N 1 Sukaraja, Sukabumi Regency. Methods: The method used in this study is a quasi-experimenal research design, namely the Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The research instrument used was an uraian test with 8 questions integrated with 5 indicators of creative thinking ability (Fluency, Flexibility, problem sensitivity, Originality, and Elaboration). Results: In testing the hypothesis using the independent sig (2-tailed) test is 0.00 < 0.05, then Ho is rejected. So use of the blended learning model on the creative thinking abilities help in the learning process to improve creative thinking in the learning process in the classroom. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is an effect on the use of the blended learning model on the creative thinking abilities of class XII students on biotechnology materials at SMA Negeri 1 Sukaraja.

Abstract

Background: Representation is a tool to improve students' communication, interpreting, and problem-solving skills. Visual representation (RV) can provide information about understanding the object/phenomenon observed about the concept under study. This study aimed to determine the relationship between visual representations and material content and the relationship between visual representations and the reality of images contained in the Circulation System material. Methods: This study used a content analysis method with a qualitative data analysis technique. Results: The analysis results show a relationship compared to the category of significant relationships on the circulation system's material and the relationship of symbolic visual representations. Conclusions: The analysis that has been carried out on the visual representation of SMA/MA biology books in the city of Stabat for the circulation system material, it can be concluded that the Visual Representation relationship contained in SMA/MA biology books was found to be more dominant for the category of no relationship compared to the category of a significant relationship in circulation system material presented. In addition, when analyzed concerning the reality of the image, the visual representation displays the relationship of symbolic visual representations in the analyzed biology textbooks. In addition to choosing a textbook, the teacher should pay attention not only to the content of the learning material but also to look at the components in the book, one of which is the picture in the textbook. This will later be useful to support students' understanding of the concepts being taught.

Abstract

Background: In the learning process, the teacher has not brought up the phenomena related to the material to find a solution. Such a learning process has not accompanied students to a problem that requires students to be able to formulate problems, formulate hypotheses, draw conclusions, and recommend problem-solving. This has an impact on the low problem-solving ability of students. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the problem-solving ability of Biology students in class X IPA-1 Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Miftahul Fallah Diski. Methods: The research method used is a quasi-experimental research design with One-Group-Pretest-Posttest. The data analyzed were in the form of pretest and post-test with data requirements test in the form of normality test and homogeneity test. Results: The results of the hypothesis test obtained the value of Sig. (2-tailed) in the "Equal variances assumed" section of 0.000 < 0.05, it can be. Conclusions: H0 is rejected, and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a positive and significant effect on students' problem-solving abilities in biology material. protists in class X IPA-1 SMA Madrasah Aliyah Private Miftahul Fallah Diski in the 2021/2022 academic year. PBL can increase the students' average pretest and post-test scores, where the average pretest score is 52.62 with a standard deviation of 7.352 and the post-test average value is 82.86 with a standard deviation of 6.036.
