Abstract

This research aims to analyze the views of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Ulama regarding religious and national moderation. In the context of a pluralistic Indonesia, religious moderation is expected to be a solution to overcome the problems of extremism and intolerance that often arise, while the concept of nationality plays an important role in maintaining harmony between religious communities. To achieve this aim, this research uses qualitative methods with in-depth interview techniques and document analysis. Data was obtained from NU ulama who have experience and deep understanding of moderation and nationality issues, both in local and national contexts. The theory used in this research is the theory of religious pluralism, which emphasizes the importance of mutual respect, recognition of diversity, and interreligious dialogue in building social harmony. The research results show that NU ulama emphasize the need for balance between faith and nationality, as well as an active role in maintaining tolerance in society. They argue that religious moderation is not just an attitude, but must also be realized in real actions that can strengthen solidarity between religious communities. It is hoped that these findings can make a significant contribution to the development of religious moderation strategies in Indonesia, as well as become a reference for public policies that support harmonious national life. By understanding the perspective of NU ulama, it is hoped that better cooperation can be established between various elements of society in creating a tolerant and peaceful environment. This research also suggests the need for educational programs that prioritize moderation and national values for future generations, so that the vision of harmony and unity can continue to be maintained and strengthened.

Abstract

This study, entitled "Qur'anic Insights on Destiny (A Comparison of the Perspectives of Ar-Râzî and Al-Farâbî)," aims to explore and redefine the meaning of destiny by comparing the views of two important figures in Islamic thought.Fakhruddin Ar-Râzî, a renowned theologian and commentator, emphasized that destiny is a manifestation of God's perfect knowledge and will. For him, everything that happens has been determined by Divine wisdom that cannot be fully understood by humans. On the other hand, Al-Farâbî, a Neoplatonist philosopher, views destiny in the context of a cosmic order governed by the Active Intellect. He combines rational and metaphysical principles to explain that destiny is a natural process governed by rational laws established by God. Al-Farâbî also emphasizes the active role of humans as rational agents who have the responsibility to shape their future through understanding and applying rational principles that are in line with the Divine order. This study uses qualitative methods with text analysis to explore the main works of both thinkers. In addition to qualitative methods, thematic methods are also used in this study. The preliminary results show that, by integrating the views of Fakhruddin Ar-Râzî and Al-Farâbî, destiny can be redefined as a concept that is not only related to divine knowledge and will but also includes aspects of human rationality and responsibility in living their lives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious moderation based on the Regulation of the Minister of Religious Affairs (KMA) No. 450 in Indonesia, particularly in education and religious life. KMA No. 450 emphasizes the importance of applying the principles of moderation, such as balance, tolerance, justice, and respect for diversity, as an effort to foster harmony in a plural society. Religious moderation not only serves as a foundation in religious education curricula but also as a guideline in social interactions. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach by examining the document of KMA No. 450 and its supporting policies. The findings reveal that KMA No. 450 has a positive impact on shaping moderate attitudes among students and the community. The values of religious moderation taught through Islamic religious education help prevent intolerance and extremism while nurturing awareness of the importance of coexisting in diversity. However, its implementation faces challenges, such as resistance from certain groups and limited resources. The study recommends enhancing the dissemination of moderation values, providing training for educators, and developing curricula and teaching materials based on religious moderation. With proper implementation, KMA No. 450 has the potential to serve as a strategic guide in fostering peaceful and harmonious religious life in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of local wisdom and religious moderation as important elements in building peace in a multicultural society. Local wisdom, which includes norms, values and traditions passed down from generation to generation, has a function in creating social harmony and community cohesion. On the other hand, religious moderation encourages a balanced, tolerant approach to religion and rejects extremism, so that it can buffer conflicts between religious groups. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, this research collects data from literature studies and field observations in communities that apply local wisdom in everyday life. A qualitative approach was chosen because it allows researchers to explore a deep understanding of social phenomena through comprehensive interpretation. Research findings show that the synergy between local wisdom and religious moderation has the potential to be a solution to religious-based conflicts, as well as playing an important role in strengthening social cohesion and minimizing potential conflicts caused by differences in religious views. This synergy, if implemented consistently, will not only maintain social stability but also contribute to the development of a peaceful, just and inclusive society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious moderation at SDN Karangasih 13, Cikarang Utara, Bekasi. Religious moderation refers to a balanced approach that promotes tolerance, respect for diversity, and rejection of extremism in practicing religious life. Implementing religious moderation in elementary schools plays a strategic role in shaping students' character from an early age to live harmoniously in diversity. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection methods including observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study include teachers, students, the principal, and educational staff at SDN Karangasih 13. The results show that the implementation of religious moderation in the school is carried out through three main aspects: (1) Integration of religious moderation values into the curriculum, particularly in Religion and Pancasila Education subjects; (2) School activities that promote tolerance and inclusivity, such as joint celebrations of religious holidays; and (3) Instilling moderation values through school culture, such as mutual cooperation, respect for others, and dialogue among school members. However, challenges remain, such as differing understandings of religious moderation among parents and limitations in providing learning resources that support these efforts. In conclusion, the implementation of religious moderation at SDN Karangasih 13 has been well-executed through a holistic approach involving the curriculum, school culture, and extracurricular activities. Nevertheless, strengthening collaboration with external parties is needed to achieve more optimal outcomes.

Abstract

This article examines how social media exacerbates religious radicalization and explores strategic measures to address it through a religious moderation approach. The phenomenon of religious radicalization on social media has become a complex and challenging global issue. Social media, as a digital interaction space, provides a significant opportunity for the spread of radical ideologies by leveraging platform algorithms to quickly reach a wider audience. The research adopts a qualitative approach based on literature studies, analyzing scholarly journals, reports, and related literature on digital radicalization. The findings reveal that radicalization on social media is often amplified by echo chambers, a lack of digital literacy, and algorithms that promote extreme content. The resulting impacts include social polarization, increased intolerance, and threats to societal diversity. However, the religious moderation approach offers an effective solution through the promotion of inclusive narratives, enhancement of digital literacy, and collaboration among various stakeholders, including governments, religious institutions, and technology platforms.

This study aims to examine the ethical principles in educational evaluation and assessment and the application of ethical evaluation in the context of Islamic education. The research employs a qualitative approach through literature reviews and interviews with Islamic Education teachers at SMKN 3 Banjarmasin, analyzing data from books, journals, and digital sources. The findings reveal that evaluation and assessment are crucial components in education for measuring student achievement and improving educational quality. These practices must adhere to ethical principles such as fairness, objectivity, and privacy. Fairness ensures that all students are treated equally without discrimination through transparent and unbiased evaluation tools. Objectivity emphasizes assessment based on concrete data, avoiding personal bias, and using clear assessment rubrics. Privacy involves protecting student data, limiting access to authorized parties, and respecting students’ rights to keep their information confidential. In Islamic education, these principles reflect the moral values of the Qur’an regarding justice and respect for individuals. Ethical evaluation fosters an inclusive learning environment and supports students’ holistic development.
