Abstract

Aquaculture is one of the important chain in fisheries bioindustry development. Aquaculture is a production unit that can sustain availability of animal protein of fisheries commodity, both raw materials nor food for consumption. In the implementation, aquaculture system generates considerable organic and anorganic wastes, consisting of metabolism products, residual foods, feces, chemical residues, and others that cause water quality deterioration and disease outbreaks. As a result, aquaculture is considered as a potential polluter and a cause of degradation of the aquatic environment. Bioremediation is an integrated and complex system of environmental management program. It is done by using a macro or microorganism and can also by using some combination of them that specifically target particular pollutants. This short communication attempts to describe and elaborate bioremediation present status and future prospect for sustainability of aquaculture system development

Abstract

Bangka Island is one of the biggest tin mine source land. Tin mining activities in Bangka Island made some environmental problems. The impact of tin mining are some critical areas, Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) and mine pit ponds in Bangka Island. The purposes of the research were to isolate and to screenzink-accumulating and copper-accumulating bacteria, and to identify the bacteria from post tin-mining pit ponds. Sampling was conducted in two locations (stations) in Rebo Village, from 0 and 5 years old post tin-miningpond aged. The sampling used purposive random sampling method. The research measured three parameters: the level of Zn and Cu concentrationsdecreasing, dry weight cell of bacteria, the number of bacteria cell, and pH changing of medium. Research has resulted 40 isolates from 17 genera. Stomacoccus sp. has the highest Zn leveluptake (11.07 ppm or 32.56%) and it has the highest dry weight cells (4.8 mg). The bestCu-accumulatingbacteria was shown by Serratia sp. Serratia sp could accumulate 25,2 ppm or up to 70,99% Cu. The observation showed that Serratia sp. had the highest cell biomass (13,87 mg). The bacteria which could accumulate 2 kind of heavy metal Zn and Cu wereAcetothermus sp. (7.86 ppm Zn and 7.7 ppm Cu); Sarcina sp. (10.63 ppm Zn and 7.1 ppm Cu); andSacharococcus sp (3.84 ppm Zn and 11.8 ppm Cu). These bacteria have potential to decrease both of heavy metal kinds: Zn and Cu from post tin-mining pit ponds.

Abstract

Study of The willingness to accept (WTA) is one approach to assess environmental services. The WTA estimates how much people want to be paid to prevent environmental damage (willingness of producers to receive compensation) with the deterioration of environmental quality. Coastal sand mining in Nasai Beach has caused coastal damage, damaged mangrove ecosystems, reduced fisheries production, and caused damage to roads. One effort to overcome this externality through the determination of sand price that internalized the externality cost. The proposed of sand price is IDR 391,924.00 /m3. This study aims (1). Analyzing the willingness to accept ofsand price with internalized the externality cost from consumers of sand, sand agents and sand sellers, (2). Analyzing the level of income and expenditure of the community, (3). Assessing the correlation of WTA values with the level of expenditure and income of respondents. The methodology used mean WTA, Pearson correlation test and cross tabulation. The results showed that 72.3% of respondents were willing to accept the price of sand which internalized the externalities cost. The amount of WTA costs varies between Rp100,000.00 until IDR 1.300.000,00 The Sperman correlation test shows that there is a significant correlation between income and expenditure, between willingness to accept WTA value and WTA value and between expenditure and willingness to accept WTA value. Correlation is low and different directional, except the correlation between income and expenditure is in the same directionKata kunci : Sungai Baturusa, PenambanganTimah, Kualitas Air, IndeksPencemaran.

Abstract

Waters of Bangka Island condition increasingly polluted and marine ecosystems all the time more damage due to the impact of offshore tin mining. Offshore tin mining destruct marine ecosystem and always leaves the turbidity and high sedimentation rates in the ocean. Mining of floating cause the seabed sediments are mixed with sea water, as a result suspended matter content become higher and spreading by ocean waves into seagrass ecosystems. High sedimentation rate if it exceeds the threshold, in addition to inhibiting seagrass photosynthesis, can also cause death and loss of seagrass. Seagrass has several important functions in coastal and marine areas, such as spawning, protection and enlargement ground of marine life. Seagrass bed has a very important role, therefore the seagrass damage that occurs needs to be fixed, one of the method is seagrass transplantation as restoration efforts. The aim of research was to determined the efficiency of seagrass transplantation method in accordance with waters of Bangka Island,at tin post mining in the sea post. Seagrass transplantation method used as experimental in this research is a method of burlap sacks and Sprig Anchor. The results showed that the method is more suited to waters of Bangka Island. It is because Bangka island waters classified as fast-flowing waters. The method of burlap sacks is a method that fill sacks with substrate, so could be used as retaining current
