Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ learning outcomes through the implementation of macromedia flash application on the theme of “Kayanya Negeriku” at SD RK Bintang Timur Rantauprapat. This research was Classroom Action Research. The subjects of this research were 30 students at grade IV consisting of 17 male students and 13 female students. This research was conducted in two cycles with two meetings in each cycle. The research data were obtained from tests and observations. The results showed an increase on students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of Macromedia Flash application. This was proved by the increase of students’ learning outcomes in each cycle. The results in the pre-test showed that  7 students (23%) reached the learning mastery while 23 students (77%) did not yet reach the learning mastery with the average score of 57.33 then, in cycle 1, 13 students (43%) were completed the learning mastery while 17 students (57%) did not reach the learning mastery with the average score of 73.00. Moreover, in the second cycle 24 students (80%) reached the learning mastery while 6 students (20%) did not with the average score of 83.00. The results of observations in cycle I found that 64% of teachers got sufficient category and 62% of students also got sufficient category. Then, the results in cycle II, the observation for teachers increased to 82% with very good category while the observation for students increased to 84% with good category. Based on the percentage of learning outcomes and observations, it can be concluded that implementing Macromedia Flash application improved students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: (i) evaluate the trainees’s satisfaction on trainers and training performance; (ii) evaluate learning gain or the improvement of trainees’s skills, knowledge, and attitude after training; and (iii) know the significant obstacles that reduced the effectiveness of training. This study was conducted by using Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model through questionnaires, interviews, and descriptive statistics method. This research revealed that: (i) the overall aspect of the implementation evaluation assessed by participants was in Good category although it could not meet the level of participants’ expectations. It could be seen from the ratio of the average total perception/reality and the average of important which were below 100%. On the other hand, it was found that the trainers were been able to meet the participants’ expectations with the category of Very Good; (ii) the results of the evaluation analysis at Level 2 (learning gain) indicated that most of the participants graduated with Good predicate and got an increased score. Thus, it could be asserted that the participants gained additional knowledge after attending the training; (iii) there were some obstacles faced by participants in attending the training although in general the evaluation results showed good results. In terms of administration, it was found that participants generally complained about inadequate internet quality in some areas. Meanwhile, based on the trainers aspect, it was revealed that participants generally gave suggestions for trainers to add case studies and to raise the latest issues in handling the problems related to training materials.

Abstract

Modules refer to teaching materials arranged systematically and attractively which include contents, methods, and learning evaluation. A module can be used independently by students to achieve the expected competencies. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which the Pancasila and Civics Education module with character-based learning approach for grade VII junior high school students could be used especially in developing or forming the students’ characters. This module was expected to assist grade VII students to have better characters. This research was Research and Development since it  developed a character-based approach module. R&D aims to develop a new product or to improve an existing product. The results of this study found that the character-based learning at grade VII was less optimal and did not contain noble values. As a result, the students’ character was not well-built so research on character-based module for grade VII SMP needed to be developed. The subjects of this research were 35 grade VII students in the first semester of the academic year 2018/2019. The results revealed that 25 students were active in the learning process and most of them had reached the KKM score of 85%. Meanwhile, the students’ comprehension about the language was 82.5%. Thus, the character-based module assisted students to achieve good grade in learning Pancasila and Civics Education.

Abstract

This study aimed to: (1) develop thematic textbooks based on local wisdom for the materials about Our Best Friend's Environment for grade V elementary school students and (2) know the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of thematic textbooks based on local wisdom for the materials about Our Best Friend's Environment for grade V elementary school students. This textbook was developed by using Research and Development (R & D) method. The development stages included: (1) Potentials and problems, (2) Data collection, (3) Product designs, (4) Design validations, (5) Design revisions, (6) Product testings, and (7) Product revisions (Sugiyono, 2016). This study was conducted to 33 students from class V SDN 2 Sendang Kabupaten Jepara. The initial product development was a process of making media based on needs analysis. Expert testings or validation was carried out by 2 experts, namely media experts and material experts. The data in this study were collected through observations, interviews, and questionnaires. Then, the data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis and comparison test of two independent groups, namely by using the independent t-test. Based on the results of the trial, this thematic textbook was very valid, very interesting, effective, and could be applied in learning. This could be seen from the results of the validation by three experts showing that the product was good. Moreover, the results of the effectiveness test showed that students at the experimental class had better learning outcomes than those in the control class. This means that the textbook based on local wisdom in Kabupaten Jepara were developed effectively.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a Problem Based Learning (PBL)-oriented pictorial story materials assisted by android to improve science learning outcomes at grade IV Elementary School. The approach used in this study was research and development (R&D) with mixed methods design. The subjects in this study were students at grade IV SDN 1 and 2 Manyargading, SDN 1 and 2 Bandungrejo and SDN Teluk Kulon Kabupaten Jepara. Data were collected by using questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The PBL-oriented pictorial story materials assisted by android media were developed by referring to the stages of development proposed by Borg and Gall. The results showed that PBL-oriented pictorial story materials assisted by android were feasible to improve science learning outcomes. This was based on the results of the validity test, the effectiveness test, and the practicality test of the materials. The result of validity test revealed that the assessment from the material, media, and language experts as well as the practitioners was good. Then, the result of the effectiveness test indicated that students’ learning outcomes increased from an average pretest of 51.2 to 76.8 in the posttest. The result of main field testing found that the average score of  the students’ learning outcomes  in the experimental class was (86.5), which was better than the score in the control class (73.2). the result of paired-sample test showed that the value of p = 0,000 (p <0.05), meaning that there were significant differences in the students’ learning outcomes in the experimental and control class. Thus, it was said that PBL-oriented pictorial story materials assisted by android were effective to improve science learning outcomes. Finally, the result of practicality test obtained that PBL-oriented pictorial story materials assisted by android received a good response from students and teachers.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the needs for Discovery Learning-based student worksheet (LKPD), especially for grade V SD Negeri Sukoharjo 01and 03, to improve students’ learning outcomes. This research was a development research utilizing Borg and Gall model which included seven steps, namely potentials and problems, data collection, product design, validation of design, revision of design, product testing, and product revision. The needs analysis of LKPD was conducted based on teachers’ and students’ perceptions to 50 students in the experimental class and 40 students in the control class. The data were collected through a questionnaire of material needs and a test for students’ learning outcomes. The results of the needs analysis based on the students’ and teachers’ perceptions included four aspects, namely (1) book content (89.1%), (2) language (91.25%), (3) presentation (88.9%), and (4) graphics (95.2%). The gain test ndicated an increase in students’ learning outcomes as much as 1.44 with  high criteria from the cognitive  aspects. Furthermore, the results of T test for the cognitive aspect was 0.172> 0.05 and T test for the psychomotor aspect was 0.062. Based on this result, there were differences in the learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. Thus, it could be concluded that Discovery Learning-based LKPD improved student learning outcomes.
