Abstract

This study examines the effect of basic literacy activities on the reading interest of fifth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 068008 Medan Tuntungan during the 2022/2023 academic year. A quantitative research design was employed to measure the relationship between literacy activities and students’ reading interest. The research population consisted of all 29 students in grade V, and a saturated sampling technique was applied, involving the entire VA class. Prior to the implementation of the literacy activities, students achieved an average reading interest score of 82.2, which falls within the moderate category. Data analysis indicated that the dataset was normally distributed, as shown by the normality test value of 0.936. Furthermore, the correlation analysis revealed a coefficient of 0.720, exceeding the critical value (rcount = 0.720 ≥ rtable = 0.367), leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. This result demonstrates a strong positive relationship between basic literacy activities and students’ reading interest. The significance of this relationship was further confirmed through a t-test analysis, where the calculated value (tcount = 5.391) exceeded the critical value (ttable = 1.703). These findings indicate that basic literacy activities have a statistically significant and positive effect on the reading interest of fifth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 068008 Medan Tuntungan. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of structured basic literacy activities plays an important role in fostering students’ reading interest at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This paper examines the development, feasibility, and response of students about animated video media using the Powtoon application in order to increase students’ learning motivation in theme 8 of My Living Area on Subtheme 1 of My Living Environment Learning 1 in Class IV SD ST. Antonius Bangun Mulia Medan. The research is a research and development using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The research subjects are four validators, namely one validator of learning media design experts, two experts in learning media materials, and one education practitioner who is carried out by class teachers. The sample consists of 30 students. Data collection techniques are tests, questionnaires, and documentation. Based on data analysis, it is concluded that animated video media using the Powtoon application to increase students’ motivation in learning result is "Very Feasible", which was used with details of the average scores obtained by media and material experts with a final score at 100%, the media at 87.98% and material experts at 100% with the same category. In terms of practicality, the teacher's average score is 100% with the category "Very Feasible". The results of the question reliability are 0.900 with a very strong category and the results of the questionnaire reliability were 0.878 with a very strong category. Results of the coefficient Sis at 0.855 so it can be concluded that there is a significant effect. At the last stage, the summary model result, which is proven by the value of R Square or Coefficient of Determination (KD), is 73.1% so it can be concluded that Ho isrejected, which means that there is an improvement in learning motivation after students use the animated video media Powtoon application in class IV SD ST. Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Time Token learning model on students’ learning outcomes in Grade V at SD Negeri 060938 Medan Johor during the 2022/2023 academic year. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population of the study consisted of 30 fifth-grade students, all of whom were selected as research subjects through probability sampling, resulting in a total sample of 30 students. Data were collected to measure students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of the Time Token learning model. The results indicate that students’ learning outcomes achieved through the application of the Time Token model fall into the very good category, with an average score of 80.3. Statistical analysis revealed a correlation coefficient of 0.701, which exceeds the critical value of rtable = 0.361, indicating that Ha is accepted. This result demonstrates a significant relationship between the use of the Time Token learning model and students’ learning outcomes. Furthermore, hypothesis testing using the t-test showed that tcount = 5.196 is greater than ttable = 1.701, further confirming the acceptance of Ha. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Time Token learning model has a significant and positive effect on students’ learning outcomes in Grade V at SD Negeri 060938 Medan Johor during the 2022/2023 academic year. The implementation of this model effectively enhances student participation and learning achievement, making it a viable instructional strategy for elementary school classrooms.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum changes the curriculum structure in schools, starting with driving schools as pioneers who adopt and implement P5. The principal selection process for drive schools involves several stages, highlighting the crucial principals' role in implementing P5. Not all schools will be ready to implement this curriculum, especially non-driving schools. This research aims to describe school principal policies, strategies, influence, and supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing P5 and uses a qualitative approach. Data are obtained through observation, interviews with school principals, teachers, students, and documentation. The research results show that school principals’ policies consist of planning, implementation, and evaluation. Planning involves forming a curriculum acceleration team, preparing KOSP, budgeting, and increasing teacher competency. Implementation involves forming a facilitator team, creating P5 modules, and mentoring. The evaluation highlights the improvements in school readiness, teacher assessment, and P5's orientation towards strengthening character rather than products. The P5 strategy includes understanding, preparing the ecosystem, design, management, processing assessment reports, evaluation, and follow-up. Influential aspects at SDN 032 include competent human resources and strategic location, as supporting factors for P5, while the obstacle is the teacher's slow adaptation to curriculum changes. The research results are expected to contribute to improving the P5 implementation in schools.
