Abstract

This classroom action research (CAR) aimed to: improve student’s activities and mathematics learning outcomes subject triangle and square for the student at class VII B of SMP Negeri 5 Surakarta through the implementation of the Make a Match cooperative learning model. This study used the method of CAR which was carried out during March until July 2018, and it was in the 2017/2018 academic year. The receptive subject of the study was the 29 students of VII B while the agent subject was the mathematics teacher. The data were collected by observation, test, and documentation. The data were then analyzed using the technique of comparative descriptive statistic and critical analysis. The result of CAR shows that the implementation of cooperative learning model type make a match can improve the student’s activities and student’s mathematics learning outcome. DOI: https://doi.org/10.30862/jhm.v1i2.1047

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the mathematical Inductive reasoning abilities of students’ mathematics education UNIPA. Research on inductive mathematical reasoning skills using qualitative methods using observation techniques, tests and interviews. The results showed that the mathematical inductive reasoning abilities of mathematics education students UNIPA were mostly in the moderate category. Students' inductive reasoning ability on each indicator is the ability to present mathematical statements in writing or drawings of 66.66%, the ability to submit suspicions by 26.66%, mathematical manipulation ability of 29.44%, ability to compile evidence, provide reasons or evidence for some solutions of 5.82%, finding patterns or traits of mathematical symptoms to generalize of 30.27%, examining validity of arguments 11.32% and drawing conclusions from statements of 5.27%. DOI: https://doi.org/10.30862/jhm.v1i2.1048

Abstract

This research aimed to improve student’s mathematical understanding through the scientific approach and peer tutor model. This research was classroom action research that was done in 2 cycles. Every cycle divided into 4 parts that were planning, action and observation, and reflection. The subject of this research was students’ grade VIIA MTs Al-Munawwaroh Merauke that consists of 25 students. The technique of data collection was used test observation and questionnaire of students learning motivation. The research result showed that the average of the students increased in every cycle and classical completeness of the cycle I was 64% and cycle II 88% from that result showed that an increase classical of cycle I and cycle II. Students activity increase on cycle I 60% with active category and cycle II obtained 84% with active category and extremely active. Then can be said that the scientific approach and peer teaching model can improve students’ understanding of mathematics class VIIA MTs Al-Munawaroh Merauke. DOI: https://doi.org/10.30862/jhm.v1i2.1044

Abstract

Junior high school’s students should be able to determine fraction and alsoimplement the concepts of fraction to solve mathematics problem. However,in reality, so many mistake that occur for students in solving mathematicsproblem in the operation of fraction. The intelligence of students also affectsthe number of errors in solving the fractional counting operations. So, thepurpose of this study was to determine students' errors in solving the problemof fractional counting operations based on the level of students’ intelligence. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The research results showthat the different category of students’ intelligent produce differentmathematical problem solving abilities. Students with low intelligencecategories make many errors in their completion. On the other hands, thestudent with high intelligence category make a few errors. DOI: https://doi.org/10.30862/jhm.v1i2.1041

Abstract

Students who have a good number sense can think and reason flexibly use numbers to solve problems, find answers that don't make sense, understand how numbers can be separated and put together in different ways, see connections between number operations, do mental calculations, and make reasonable estimates. Whereas, on the other hand, students with a poor number sense tend to depend on procedures rather than reasons, often not paying attention when answers or estimates don't make sense and have limited numerical reasoning. Therefore planting an understanding of numbers with the right method must be done early. This study aims to know how can PMRI approach context fabel construct early elementary school students understanding in finding number relation. Design research method used to reach this goal and tested in SDN Angkasa Penfui with 36 early grade 1 elementary school students as the subject. The results show that the PMRI approach using fable as a context construct students understanding in finding number relation flexibly. DOI: https://doi.org/10.30862/jhm.v1i2.1053

Abstract

This study aims to see differences in student learning outcomes in the material system of two-variable linear equations using the CIRC type cooperative model and conventional learning models. This research is comparative research. The experimental class uses the CIRC type cooperative model using teaching materials and student worksheets and control classes using conventional models without teaching materials and student worksheets. The end of the meeting is a test of learning outcomes. The data obtained were then analyzed through: descriptive analysis, t-test statistics, and hypothesis testing. The results showed that there were differences in learning outcomes of Class X students of SMK Negeri 2 Ambon who were taught using cooperative integrated reading and composition cooperative learning model (CIRC) and conventional learning models on the material of two-variable linear equation systems. DOI: https://doi.org/10.30862/jhm.v1i2.1040

Abstract

Tkinesthetic learning style; problem solvinghe purpose of this research was to study the profile of students' mathematical inductive reasoning abilities regarding visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles in solving mathematical problems. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The results of the study showed that UNIPA mathematics education students tended to study with Visual Learning Styles. Students with this learning style tend to have inductive mathematical reasoning abilities that are better than inductive mathematical reasoning abilities of students learning with auditorial learning styles and those who learn with the kinesthetic learning style. Also, Mathematics Education students of University of Papua do not have the ability to examine the validity of an argument and find patterns or characteristics of mathematical symptoms to generalize. DOI: https://doi.org/10.30862/jhm.v1i2.1049
