Abstract

Dalam pengelolaan produk pupuk dan non-pupuk di PT Petrokimia Gresik, salah satu elemen terpentingnya adalah pengelolaan bahan baku yang didukung oleh utilitas berupa mesin penukar panas (Heat exchanger). Keberhasilan selama rangkaian proses produksi pupuk di Petrokimia Gresik didukung oleh peranan dari heat exchanger. Agar dapat mendukung operasional suatu unit produksi dan memperoleh hasil yang diharapkan, maka heat exchanger harus berada dalam performa terbaiknya. Karakteristik dalam menentukan performa dari kinerja suatu heat exchanger dapat dilihat dari keefektivannya dalam menukar panas.Pengolahan data menggunakan metode Log Mean Temperature Difference (LMTD), dengan membandingkan temperatur fluida disetiap akhir perpindahan panas. Pendekatan menggunakan metode LMTD dapat digunakan jika diketahui temperatur fluid saat masuk dan keluar, sehingga dapat ditentukan koefisien dari perpindahan panas. Evaluasi heat exchanger menggunakan metode LMTD meliputi fouling factor (Rd), dan penurunan tekanan (ΔP). Analisa kinerja heat exchanger dilakukan dengan metode (LMTD), memperoleh hasil dengan nilai untuk koefisien perpindahan kalor keseluruhan (Ud) sebesar 0,018, koefisien perpindahan kalor menyeluruh (Uc) sebesar 0,068 , Faktor Pengotoran (fouling factor/Rd) sebesar 40,32 , serta pressure drop (ΔP) pada sisi shell sebesar 0,16 kPa dan pada sisi tube sebesar 1,56 kPa, dengan efisiensi dari efektifitas heat exchanger (ɳ) sebesar 96%.Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan rata-rata nilai yang dihasilkan masih berada pada batas nilai yang diizinkan, kecuali pada perhitungan pressure drop (ΔP) sisi shell yang memiliki nilai 8% lebih besar dari nilai yang diizinkan. Hal ini menunjukan jika heat exchanger masih layak dioperasikan tapi membutuhkan perawatan pembersihan.

Abstract

Recently, sophisticated aircraft such as commercial aircraft have more various components than before. This fact causes an impact in increasing wiring complexity and resulting in more weight to the airplane. To replace the cables, wireless mode is applied, which is called wireless avionic intra-communications (WAIC). In this article, several wireless communication protocols are recommended to be used in some application sensors on the aircraft. The sensor application selection on the aircraft is based on the type of communication data required from each sensor and based on the location of the sensor. The recommended protocol for each application is concluded based on the characteristics of the communication protocol such as signal rate and nominal distance.

Abstract

Kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi dalam industri telah mendorong peningkatan dalam permintaan terhadap material komposit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komposit mana yang lebih ringan, kuat dan juga mempunyai sifat termal yang baik untuk pembuatan ribs pesawat AerO-73K dan mengtahui kekuatan tarik dan bending sandiwch serat Carbon/Epoksi vs E-glass/Epoksi dengan mennggunakan serta dengan Metoda yang digunakan adalah menggabungkan hand lay-up dan vacuum bag.Hasil dari analisis pengujian dapat diketahui bahwa nilai kekuatan tensile dan bending maksimum dengan arah serat , rata-rata kekuatan tensile komposit serat E-glass/Epoksi sebesar 147,493 MPa dan Carbon/Epoksi 452,949 MPa, sedangkan nilai rata-rata untuk kekuatan bending komposit sandwich dengan menggunakan core EPS, XPS, Kayu Balsa serat Carbon/Epoksi lebih kuat yaitu sebesar 43,721 MPa dibandingkan dengan komposit sandwich dengan menggunakan core EPS, XPS, Kayu Balsa serat E-glass/Epoksi yaitu sebesar 36,680 MPa.

Abstract

Fruit is a healthy supplement, the biggest consumer of fruit is found in big cities. Pagar Alam is an area that produces various types of fruit. Assessment of fruit quality by farmer groups, still using manual methods so that it has some weaknesses. Weakness in evaluating the quality of fruit manually causes an inaccurate assessment because the assessment system is done by estimating the quality of a sample of fruits based on the experience of quality assessors and not based on standardized aspects of assessment. For this reason, a Decision Support System (SPK) was developed to determine the quality of fruit based on a website that helps assessors of the quality of fruits in farmer groups in determining accurate fruit quality with a quick process. This system uses PHP as its programming language, the method used by RAD is an object oriented approach. The system can be used to support fruit quality assessment decisions, thus providing data on the quality of current fruit yields and can be used as a reference for farmers to improve the quality of fruit production in the next harvest.

Abstract

Plant layout or facilities layout is to fix regulate facilities layout with consider material handling flow. In this research on Bamboo Furniture Industry Karya Manunggal Yogyakarta show less precisely placement of production facilities and flow material resulting in the total distances of material handling becomes long and induce the total cost of material handling becomes high.Improvement of facilities layout performed with qualitative methods ARC (Activity Relationship Chart). This matter do for obtain a new layout with minimum total distances of material handling and minimum total cost of material handling. In this research use POM QM Software for validating total distances of material handling.Analysis result and designing facilities layout is a new layout with Rectilinear Distance method, The initial movement distances is 1.922,9 m become 1.832,35 m or have a reduction distances 4,94 % from initial layout. While for the initial total cost of material handling is Rp 200.135,6 become Rp 199.745,9 or have a reduction cost 0,19% from initial layout. Existence a new layout based on ARC be expected on the production floor of Bamboo Furniture Industry Karya Manunggal Yogyakarta.

Abstract

The slug flow phenomena are often encountered in various industrial applications such as petroleum, process, and power plant. The presence of slug flow should be avoided as it causes structural damage due to resonance, corrosion and pipes blast. From the view point of multiphase flow, the understanding of the slug initiation mechanism is very important in pipeline design. This research is conducted using horizontal transparent acrylic pipes with diameters of 50 mm with a variation on the superficial velocity of water between 0,1 m/s and 0,77 m/s and superficial velocity of air between 0,31 m/s and 6,2 m/s. In the present experimental study, the slug initiation mechanisms was explained by visual observation by using high speed video cameras. As the results, the slug flow initiation mechanism were clarified. Furthermore, the proposed of flow initiation map was introduced.

Abstract

Industrial environment has seen from the ability of company to meet the high requirements and expectations from consumers on quality, cost, and processing time. Experienced estimators on project tend to underestimate or pesimistic bias when assessing when project will be completed or how much it will cost for the project. Purpose of this study is to identify whether optimistic biases influence project estimation and submit proposal intervention. This study use a solar power plant project as a case study. Respondents in this study were employees of an EPC company that was categorized as a novice and expert. Optimistic bias occur on the accuracy of time and the cost of the respondent. In general, the accuracy of expert respondents in estimating project time and costs is more accurate than respondent novice. Intervention in this study is when estimating project time and costs should be carried out by expert category estimator.

Abstract

Energy can be obtained from the flow of water in irrigation channels. Savonius water rotor can be applied to low velocity flow and does not cause substantial losses. Rotor Savonius, which has good initial spinning ability, will assist in its operations. The experimental study conducted in this paper aims to investigate the effect of water velocity on the performance of the model of Savonius water rotor. The experiments used 2 blades Savonius rotor to show tip speed ratio, torque and power coefficient related with water velocity. The results of study showed that, increased velocity of water flow increases the ability of Savonius water rotor. The Savonius rotor can produce a high power coefficient at low water flow rates when a deflector is added

Abstract

Information systems are generally used to support the viability of a business operation and management processes in an organization. To enhance the ability of information systems can be created an interactive information system, so it can provide rapid response and attractive to users. Interactive information system is more directed to the use of multimedia as a means of informing something. Multimedia is a combination of text, images, animations, sound and video. Various media are combined into a single unit of work will yield some information that has value that interactive communication is very high. The research will make a design of interactive information system on toll transaction using sms gateway. So the system can display the alarm and computer animated images on the screen when the computer is experiencing problems in the transaction pulse. In addition the system can also create video tutorial that shows step-by-step problem solving appropriate to the emergence of problems that occurred in the transaction pulse. With the information system interactive  it will help the operator pulses respond quickly to any problems in the credit transaction.

Abstract

Performance issues are not only important for upper middle and large companies, but also important for Small and Medium Industries Creative Industries. To evaluate the current condition of a creative industry, the creative industry needs to determine the multi-criteria Key Performance Indicator (KPI) properly and correctly. Therefore in this study, researchers tried to design a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for the creative industries of bamboo crafts in the Godean district of Sleman. The design of KPI uses the Balanced Scorecard method which includes setting strategic objectives, determining key performance indicators (KPI). From the results of the study obtained 10 KPI, namely: the level of sales growth, the level of customer growth, the level of customer satisfaction, the level of customer complaint fulfillment, the level of production speed, the number of products produced by labor, the percentage of defective products, the percentage of the level of effort to repair defective products, the level of productivity employees, and employee job satisfaction Keywords: Performance, Performance Indicator, Key Performance Indicator, Balanced Scorecard, Creative Industry.
