Abstract

Utilization of marginal land such as coastal land is an effort to increase the availability of land for lowland vegetable production such as eggplant. The nature of coastal land that is too porous and poor in nutrients requires action to improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. The development of suitable types of eggplant in coastal areas is an important step to obtain good growth and yields. This study aims to evaluate the response of five types of eggplant and the application of organic fertilizer on coastal land. The experiment was conducted using a completely randomized block design with three replications. The types that were continuously evaluated were JTY variety, Mustang F1 variety, Kenari variety, Ratih Hijau variety, and SS 201 variety. Application of organic fertilizer used doses of 0 tons/ha, 10 tons/ha and 20 tons/ha. The results showed that there was no interaction between the type of eggplant and the dose of organic fertilizer application on the growth and yield of eggplant on coastal land. The Mustang F1 variety provides the best growth and yields. The application of organic matter at a dose of 20 tons/ha is the best for the growth and yield of eggplant in coastal areas.

Abstract

Potassium (K) is one of the important ions in low-salinity shrimp culture, which has functions of maintaining electrolyte balance, conduction of nerve impulses, and releasing energy from protein, fat, and carbohydrate. This research aimed to study and determine the proper concentration of potassium as an additive ion to enhance the growth and survival rate of vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Potassium was added to the rearing media with the salinity of 5 ppt in different concentrations (0, 50, 100, and 150 mg/L), with three replicates of treatment. The shrimp in size of post-larvae (PL)10 reared for 40 days in the treatment’s media with a stocking density of 140 shrimp (2000 shrimp/m3). The results of this study showed that potassium administration in low-salinity media has a significant effect on the growth performance and survival rate of shrimp. Potassium administration at a concentration of 100 mg/L resulted in better vaname performance than other treatments (P < 0.05) based on absolute weight, specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio, and survival rate

Abstract

Seaweed (Kappaphycus alvarezii) is a fishery product that has enormous potential as well as has high economic value with very diverse processed products that can improve the welfare of coastal communities. However, the problem that often arises in seaweed cultivation is the presence of ice-ice disease. Symptoms of ice-ice disease are generally characterized by bleaching at the base of the thallus, middle and tip, which begins with a change in color of the thallus to clear white or transparent. This study aimed to analyze the pathogenic bacteria in seaweed (K. alvarezii) which was attacked by ice-ice disease in Tarakan City. Bacterial isolation was carried out by smoothing 30 grams of seaweed samples that had been taken and then 5 grams of it put into an Erlenmeyer containing 250 ml of APW enrichment media and then incubated for 6-8 hours at 370C. Furthermore, the sterilized spherical needle was inserted into the APW medium and then streaked on TCBS and 3% TSA media using the streak plate method and incubated at 370C for 24 hours. Then the bacterial colonies that grew on the media were selected with different colors, shapes and elevations to be purified. Identification of bacteria using the Manual for the Identification of Medical Bacteria and Bergey's Manual of Determinative Bacteriology based on morphological and biochemical characteristics. The results of the study by identifying bacteria in seaweed that were attacked by ice-ice disease based on morphological and biochemical tests found the infecting bacteria were Actinobacillus, Moraxella, Alcaligenes, Vibrio and Bacillus. In conclusion, there were 5 pathogenic bacteria identified in seaweed that was attacked by ice-ice disease including; Actinobacillus, Moraxella, Alcaligenes, Vibrio and Bacillus

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the interaction between varieties with doses of bokashi EOPB on the growth and yield of cauliflower (Brassica Oleracea L). To determine the optimal dose of bokashi EOPB and to determine the varieties that are responsive in the lowlands. This research was carried out from February 2020 to April 2020, in Kungkai Baru village, Air Periukan sub-district, Seluma district, Bengkulu province, with an altitude of 100 meters above sea level. This study used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors, namely variety (V) and bokashi empty oil palm bunch (EOPB) dose (P) with 4 replications, a total of 72 experimental units. P1= EOPB bokhasi fertilizer 0 ton/ha. P2 = EOPB bokashi fertilizer 15 tons/ha, P3 = EOPB bokashi fertilizer 20 tons/ha. The variety factors was V1 = PM 126 variety and V2 = Ilona variety. The results of the study concluded that the interaction treatment between cauliflower varieties and the dose of bokhasi EOPB fertilizer gave a very significant effect on the variables of plant height at the observational ages of 5, 6, and 7 WAP and fresh fruit weight had a significant effect at harvest. The dose of bokashi fertilizer gave a very significant effect on the number of leaves and fruit diameter at the age of 7 WAP observations alone. The PM 126 variety is more responsive to cultivation in the lowlands by using a dose of 15 ton/ha of EOPB bokashi fertilizer.

Abstract

The prospect of cauliflower or in its foreign language cauliflower in east Kalimantan is very promising. The supply of cauliflower at this time is very dependent on outside the East Kalimantan region, namely Java and Sulawesi. The efforts made to meet the needs are to increase production by improving intensive cultivation techniques. The productivity of cauliflower plants can be increased by providing micronutrients and using suitable varieties. The study aims to determine the effect of mikro fitomic and variety nutrients on the growth and production of cauliflower plants. This study was compiled in a Randomized Group Design (RAK) with a 4 x 2 factorial trial with 4 repeats. The first factor is the concentration of mikro fitomic fertilizer (F), which consists of 4 levels: F0: control, F1: 1.5 ml/litre of water, F2: 2.5 ml/litre, F3: 3.5 ml/litre water. The second factor is the variety, which consists of 4 levels V2: PM 126 variety. Fitomic micro fertilizer has significantly affected the growth and production of Brassica oleracea. The crop/plant weight of 884.38 grams was achieved at the optimal concentration of micro-fitomik fertilizer 3.5 ml/litre of water. The Brassica oleracea variety had a significantly affected diameter, plant/plant weight, and plant/plot weight. Plant production/hectare of the PM 126 variety was higher than the production of the Orient variety. The interaction between the concentrations of micro-fitomic fertilizers and the two types of varieties was not significantly different in growth and production. Recommendations for the application of micro-fitomic to B.oleracea plants are applied at a concentration of 3.5 ml/litre of water. PM126 and Orient varieties are suitable for cultivation in the lowlands of East Kalimantan.
