Abstract

Low mating rate in domesticated tiger shrimp both in pond and controlled tank is probably due to immature spermatozoa because of defi ciency of several micronutrients such as amino acid, certain vitamins and minerals. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effect of commercial feed additive and to obtain its optimum dose in improving the sperm quality of pond-reared male black tiger. Test diet containing three different levels of feed additive used as treatment at 0 (SX0), 20 (SX20) dan 30 g/kg pakan (SX30). Formulation used in this experiment was standard formulation developed through previous experiment. Two hundreds and fi fty male tiger shrimps were obtained from traditional earthenpond  with weight range from 57 to 99 g and months of age around 8 months (prematuration stage). In order to evaluate the effect of dietary treatments on natural mating rate and fertiled eggs, after 4 months feeding trial, male stocks were mated with wild female tiger shrimp then observed their performances. After 2 moths feeding trial (age of male around 10 months), from 15 male stocks  visually observed, it was still found undevelope spermatophore in each of the tank. Slight development of spermatophore was observed in male stocks fed SX30 around 67% and 53% was found in shrimp fed SX0 and SX20. Furthermore, spermatophore with white color ranged from 13-20% in all dietary treatments. Number of sperm cell in male fed with SX20 was the highest 24 x106 cell and the lowest was found in male fed SX0 yaitu 75 x106 cell. Female maturing without spermatophore in its thelicum was not found in group fed SX0 and female maturing bearing spermatophore was occured in 4 females. Egg fecundity were relative similar in the two groups which was 164,166 eggs obtained in SX0 and 186,489 eggs in SX30. Even though fecundity of the two groups was quite similar, no fertiled egg was spawned by female fed SX0 while in group SX30, 34% of the eggs was fertile and hacthed around 33%. The application of additives as much as 30 g / kg in male tiger shrimp broodstock feed ponds can increase the level of fertilization of eggs by 34% higher than 0% in the feed additive.

Abstract

In Indonesia, outbreak of MAS on cultured African catfish  occurs periodically. The outbreek seems relate closely to quality of fry,. High quality fry and proper handling will ensure the successful of African catfish culture. Vaccination on vrooders is one of methods to produce high quality of African catfish fry. The objectives of this experiment  were to know effect of fingerling produced by vaccination brooders on survival., growth rate, and fish production  during grow out periode. Female and male brooders were vaccinated by intraperitoneal and intramuscular injection of 0.5 ml vaccine respectively. Unvaccinated brooders were used as control. Those brooders were spawned 2-4 weeks after vaccination. Fry which produced by unvaccinated brooders was reared separately in paddy field pond 15 days for the first nursery rearing. Fingerling produced by the second nursery rearing period was used for grow out for 3 mounths. Results of this experiment indicated that brooders vaccination could increase survival rate and production of African catfish approximately 22.16% and 9.94% from control respectively. However, the length and weight of fingerling produced by vaccinated brooders were lower than fingerling produced by unvaccinated brooders

Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine the type, benefi ts, and impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs of Bank Indonesia on income of fi sh farmer group (KPI) Mina Kepis at Sumberadi village, Sleman Regency. The study was conducted from January to March 2015. All member of KPI were selected as respondents, with total number of 28 persons. The study showed that CSR program in the form of physical infrastructure assistance such as major production facilities (pool and hatchery) and supporting infrastructure (parking facilities and a fi sh market), training, mentoring, and fi eld visits. The programme has provided a range of benefi ts and positive impact including increasing in knowledge,production volume, and revenue KPI Mina Kepis members. Total member’s income before programme was Rp762.275.646 (2010), raised to Rp1.981.690.942 after CSR programme (2014). Abstract

This research aimed to know the optimum formulated feeding patin (Pangasionodon hypohpthalmus) in the fingerling rearing in the fertilized pond. The fish seed were stocked in the fifteen cages of 3x2x1.25 m that were installed in the 50 m2 pond. Each cage was stocked with 600 fish with an average initial weight of 0.37 g and average body length of 2-3 cm. The treatments applied in this research were (A) without formulated feed, (B) 5% of biomass of formulated feed, (C) 10% of biomass of formulated feed, (D) 15% of biomass of formulated feed and (E) 20% of biomass of formulated feed. The protein level of the formulated feed was around 40%. The observations focused on the survival rates of fish, feed conversion ratios, body weight and length. The results showed that there were significant differences among fish treatments on the survival rates, feed conversion, weight and length growth (P<0,05). The survival rates of fish of the treatment A, B, C, D and E were 78.10%, 84.39%, 83.78%, 90.83% and 90.33%, respectively. The feed conversion of the feed given treatments i.e. B, C, D and E were 0.35, 0.62, 0.89 and 1.15, respectively. The weight growth during observation period (6 weeks) were 5.63 g, 15.29 g, 23.37 g, 39.17 g and 42.13 g for the treatments A, B, C, D and E, respectively, while the length increment for those treatments were 4.63 cm, 7.81 cm, 8.91 cm 1.5 cm and 11.05 cm, respectively. The water quality parameters were in the suitable range for fish growth.

Abstract

Organic waste from processing fishery products can be a serious problem if not handled properly, as the number increases every year. Though the content of nutrients in the waste is still high, especially protein content. The bioconversion process of organic matter from the waste is expected to be able to overcome the problems of industrial waste and increase its added value. Bioconversion using insect larvae Hermetia illucens has many advantages than other conversion processes. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of larvae in reducing the waste fishery industry. Waste used in this study was head of the tuna, with feeding rates of 60, 80 and 100 mg/larva/day. 200 larvae were used in each treatment and 3 replications. Observation time and culturing of larvae was 19 days then calculated substrate reduction, waste reduction index (WRI), the weight of larvae and protein and lipids content. The result of observations showed that feeding rate 60 mg/larva/day give optimum on parameters. The substrate reduction was 77.09%, WRI 4.06 (% / day), the weight of larva was 72.59 mg. Protein content 25.38 % (wb) and lipids 6.85 % (wb). According to that result, it could be to concluded that larvae have potential as an agent of reducing of waste fishery products.

Abstract

The experiment was aimed to know dietary protein requirement and the effect of dietary protein levels on juvenile red snapper (Lutjanus argentimaculatus). The experiment was conducted in 18 polycarbonate tanks, with each 30 liter volume. All tanks were equipped with aeration and flow through water system to maintain good water quality. Hatchery produced juvenile red snapper of 9.4 ± 0.1 g average body weight and total length of 7.7 ± 0.4 cm was randomly selected and 10 fish was stocked in each tank. Fish were fed with experimental diets contained different levels of protein, i.e., 32, 36, 40, 44, 48, and 52%.The experiment used completely random design (CRD) in triplicates. Results showed that dietary protein levels influenced growth, feed efficiency, feed intake, body protein content, and protein retention of juvenile red snapper (p<0.05). The highest weight gain (263.7%) was found on fish fed diet with 40% protein. Based on the growth and feed efficiency data, it was concluded that dietary protein requirement for juvenile red snapper was 40%.

Abstract

The estimation on population parameters of yellowstriped trevally, Selaroides leptolepis through the analysis of monthly length-frequency distribution was carried out by analyzing sample collected in Bintan waters, Riau from March 1998 to February 1999. Length-frequency data were analyzed by FiSAT program. The results showed that Von Bertalanffy growth parameters, L∞, K and growth performance (Ø’) were 18.0 cm, 1.2 y־¹and 2.59, respectively. Recruitment pattern showed one peak of recruitment. The total mortality (Z) was 4.45 and exploitation rate (E) was 0.48. Estimate results of fishing mortality and exploitation rate were found to be presently above appropriate levels.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to know the diameter and hatching rate of eggs, development rate of embryos, and survival rate of larvae of three subspecies of giant gouramy. Design experiment used in this study was completely randomized design (CRD). Eggs were incubated at 290C and larvae were reared at the same temperature until post larvae stage (most of the yolk sac completely absorbed).The results showed that there was no significant difference among subspecies (a=5%). The average diameter of the eggs were 2.61, 2.47, and 2.39 mm for bule, bastar, and bluesafir, respectively. The highest hatching rate was reached by eggs of bluesafir, followed by bastar and bule. In addition, survival rates of larvae were 93.80%, 91.60%, and 84.20% for bule, bastar, and bluesafir, respectively. The highest specific length growth rate reached by bluesafir (7.4% per day) followed by bastar (6.80% per day) and bule (5.72% per day). The highest specific weight growth rate was reached by bule (6.85% per day) followed by bluesafir (6.65% per day) and bastar (5.37% per day).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku kesukaan udang galah terhadap shelter berdasarkan karakter morfotipenya dan mengetahui pengaruh penambahan shelter terhadap pertumbuhan udang. Udang diklasifikasikan menjadi lima morfotipe, yaitu jantan bercapit biru (BC), jantan bercapit oranye (OC), jantan kecil (SM), betina bertelur (BF), dan betina tidak bertelur (VF). Perilaku udang yang diamati meliputi perilaku individu dan pasangan morfotipe terhadap shelter tunggal (potongan pipa PVC) dan perilaku populasi morfotipe terhadap shelter bertingkat (anyaman bambu). Penggunaan shelter bertingkat diteliti lebih lanjut pada pembesaran udang di kolam dengan padat tebar 5 dan 10 ekor/m2. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setiap morfotipe udang memanfaatkan shelter yang ada sebagai tempat berlindung. Morfotipe SM, OC dan BF memiliki agresivitas tinggi untuk mendapatkan shelter, sementara VF cenderung moderat dan yang terendah adalah SM. Penambahan shelter bertingkat pada kolam secara signifikan mampu meningkatkan (P <0,05) pertumbuhan, sintasan, dan produksi bersih udang, serta menurunkan rasio konversi pakan (FCR) secara signifikan (P <0,05).

Abstract

Kelompok jenis ikan pelagis kecil merupakan sumberdaya ikan yang banyak dimanfaatkan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pangan manusia. Dengan demikian perlu diketahui produktivitas penangkapan pada alat tangkap yang memproduksi jenis ikan pelagis kecil Penelitian ini menggunakan data produksi dari dua jenis alat tangkap, yaitu purse seine dan bagan rambo dengan jumlah pengambilan data selama38 trip penangkapan pada bulan Maret-Mei 2012. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jumlah jenis ikan yang tertangkap bagan rambo sebanyak 20 jenis ikan, sedangkan purse seine sebanyak 12 jenis ikan. Terdapat 10 jenis ikan yang tertangkap purse seine maupun bagan rambo. Rata-rata produktivitas penangkapan ikan pelagis kecil pada purse seine sebesar 6,11 kg/menit, sedangkan pada bagan rambo sebesar 4,98 kg/menit. Komposisi jenis ikan hasil tangkapan,menunjukkan jenis ikan kembung lelaki dominan tertangkap dengan purse seine dan jenis ikan teri dominan tertangkap bagan rambo. Tren produktivitas penangkapan menunjukkan cenderung menurun seiring dengan bertambahnya waktu.
