Abstract

This research aims to analyze the dependence of the IDR-USD exchange rate on the volume of mining exports in Indonesia using the copula approach. This dependence is important to understand considering that the exchange rate and mineral exports have a direct impact on the country's economy which depends on foreign exchange from this sector. Mineral exports are one of the country's main sources of foreign exchange, while the exchange rate influences the competitiveness of exports on the international market. The mining products taken are iron and steel, copper and nickel, which are Indonesia's leading commodities. The copula method was chosen because of its ability to capture and model non-linear dependencies between variables, without considering the distribution of each variable. Copula makes it possible to model the marginal distribution of exchange rates and export volumes separately from their dependency structures, which is in line with the complex and dynamic nature of the Indonesian mining sector economy. The results show that there is no significant dependence between the exchange rate and the volume of commodity exports taken. Therefore, this commodity export volume policy will not have a significant effect on fluctuations in the IDR-USD exchange rate and vice versa. This article can be a recommendation for exporters to understand that export volumes do not need to pay attention to exchange rate fluctuations.

Abstract

Numerous initiatives have sought to incorporate novel learning environments or technology, including Augmented Reality, into delivering more comprehensive education. But it's crucial to look at how this technology or settings impact different types of students. Research purposes: the main purposes of this study are the degree to which students are receptive to adopting augmented reality software as a learning tool and the effectiveness of such software in improving students' comprehension of probability and statistics in junior high school. Seventy-seventh graders from Purwokerto City, Indonesia's junior highs bordering urban and rural areas, participated. Research methods: two groups of students could be selected: one for the experiment and another for control purposes. In contrast to the control group, who stuck with tried-and-true teaching techniques, the experimental group conducted additional exploration of probability concepts either alone or in small groups using custom-built augmented reality software. While the control group continued to use more traditional methods of education, the experimental group utilised custom-built augmented reality software to explore probability concepts further, either individually or in small groups. All three courses met for a total of sixty-two days. Research results: The findings from the study showed that students' grasp of mathematical ideas can be improved by around 25.6% with the help of augmented reality learning apps. Furthermore, we analyse the differences in student learning and inquiry behaviours between two experimental conditions that differ in the complexity of augmented reality information. Furthermore, the results of the attitude questionnaire and the open-ended questions (5 items questions) corroborate the students' good opinions towards applications. However, in the future, researchers may look at how augmented reality affects students' more subjective characteristics, such as learning anxiety, and broaden the demographic of those who use these apps.

Abstract

Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is a general-purpose rubber produced from a copolymer of styrene and butadiene.  It is used largely in automobile and truck tires. In general, it is considered to be an abrasion-resistant replacement for natural rubber.  In this article, we compute a set of recently introduced distance-based topological descriptors namely, Zagreb connection indices and reformulated Zagreb connection indices for the SBR structures. Zagreb indices and Reformulated Zagreb indices  were applied to forecast numerous molecular properties through QSAR studies of boiling point, Molar volume and bioactivity. These indices offer a quick and effective measure of molecular complexity and features of their composition resulting in approximate molecular behavior.

Abstract

Mastery of concepts is necessary for students in learning geometry, particularly in the topic of flat-sided 3D spatial structures. A strong grasp of concepts is achieved through non-routine problem-solving exercises, which are an integral part of problem-solving-based learning. According to the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) of Education and Skills 2030, problem-solving-based learning is considered an important component in the curriculum of 60% of countries worldwide. The use of digital media is an innovative approach in education that can transform abstract geometric forms into real-world situations. The focus of this research is to develop digital media to enhance conceptual understanding among eighth-grade students at Yosowinangun Junior High School. The outcome of this study is a valid, practical, and effective digital learning medium for improving conceptual understanding. The research adopts the ADDIE model as the methodological framework. The research sample consists of twenty eighth-grade students. Data collection instruments include validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, interviews, and tests. The research findings indicate that the learning media is valid based on the analyzed validation sheets. Furthermore, the learning media is considered practical based on student response questionnaires, with an average score of 83.3%. The learning media also has a potential effect on conceptual understanding, as evidenced by the overall test results falling into the good category with an average score of 74.75%. Therefore, problem-solving-based digital learning media becomes an effective tool to assist students in developing their conceptual understanding in the process of learning flat-sided 3D spatial structures in geometry.

Abstract

The analysis of water infiltration channels requires significant time and cost when conducted through laboratory experiments. Alternatively, mathematical modeling followed by numerical method can be employed. The mathematical model of water infiltration in furrow irrigation channels takes the form of a boundary value problem, with the Helmholtz equation serving as the governing equation. The Dual Reciprocity Boundary Element Method (DRBEM) is a numerical method derived from the Boundary Element Method (BEM), utilized for solving partial differential equations encountered in mathematical physics and engineering. This research employs DRBEM to analyze infiltration in trapezoidal irrigation channels with root-water uptake across various homogeneous soil types prevalent in agricultural lands in each District/City of the Yogyakarta Special Region Province. The results demonstrate that DRBEM provides numerical solutions for suction potential, water content, and root water absorption for each soil type. It was found that sandy soil exhibits high water content but has a low rate of root water absorption. On the other hand, clayey soil has low water content but a higher rate of root water uptake. These findings indicate that sandy soil, such as those found in Sleman District and Yogyakarta city, are less efficient in water usage when employing the furrow irrigation system, whereas clayey soil, as found in Gunung Kidul regency, is more effective.

Abstract

Unemployment is someone who has been classified in the active labour force is looking for work at a certain wage level, but not getting the job they want. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) 2023, Indonesia is ranked second highest in Southeast Asia, ranked 16th in Asia and ranked 58th in the world with a percentage of 5.45%. The data used in this study is semester data (February and August) regarding the number of open unemployment according to the highest education completed in Indonesia taken from the website of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) starting from 2000 to 2022. This study using comparison of multi response Fourier series regression with trigonometry method using Gamma and the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The result of this study is Fourier series regression method of the cos function with gamma is the best model in predicting because this method has smaller MAPE value compared to VECM method. The MAPE of Fourier Series method is 0.01%, in other hand the MAPE of VECM method is 18.90% which can be categorized as prediction results with the Fourier Series method are very accurate. The results of prediction are expected to be used as reference for government to making ideal future plan to minimalize the rate of open unemployment in Indonesia.

Abstract

To produce superior human resources, the SPs-IPB Master Program must consider the factors influencing the GPA in the student selection process. The method that can be used to identify these factors is a machine learning algorithm. This paper applies the random forest and XGBoost algorithms to identify significant variables that affect GPA. In the evaluation process, the default model will be compared with the model resulting from Bayesian and random search optimization. Bayesian optimization is a method for optimizing hyperparameters that combines information from previous iterations to improve estimates. It is highly efficient in terms of computing time. Based on a balanced accuracy and sensitivity metrics average, Bayesian optimization produces a model superior to the default model and more time-efficient than random search optimization. XGBoost sensitivity metric is 25% better than random forest. However, random forest is 19% better in accuracy and 30% in specificity. Important variables are obtained from the information gain value when splitting the tree nodes formed. According to the best random forest and XGBoost model, variables that have the most influence on students' GPA are Undergraduate University Status (X8) and Undergraduate University (X6). Meanwhile, the variables with the smallest influence are Gender (X4) and Enrollment (X9).

Abstract

An economic recession, characterized by prolonged economic decline, increased unemployment, and decreased spending, is projected to occur globally in 2023, potentially impacting production capacity within the food sector. Experts have identified various contributing factors such as shifts in global trade dynamics and geopolitical tensions, highlighting the need to understand the broader global economic context leading to this recession. To achieve this goal, in this research SEM is used to analyze the relationship between variables that influence food security. Furthermore, GSCA is used to handle complex structural models and non-normal data distribution. Special considerations include the use of ALS methods to estimate parameters effectively and consistently. The findings of this research are the important role of availability, access and utilization in shaping food security in Indonesia, with a contribution of 98% of the overall influence shown by the model. These insights help governments design targeted interventions to improve food security, especially amidst challenges posed by a potential global economic downturn. Implementing strategies to increase availability, increase access and optimize utilization is very important in maintaining food security amidst economic uncertainty.

Abstract

Linear algebra over the semiring  R_ε with ⊗ (plus) and ⨁ (maximum) operations which is known as max-plus algebra. One of the isomorphic with this algebra is a min-plus algebra. Min-plus algebra that is the set R_(ε^' )=R∪{ε'}, with ⊗^' (plus) and ⨁' (minimum) operations. Given a matrix whose components are elements of R_(ε^' )  is called min-plus algebra matrices. Any matrix can be connected by an inverse. In conventional algebra, a square matrix is said an invertible matrix if the det⁡〖(A)〗≠0. In contrast to max-plus algebra, a matrix is said to have inverse condition if it meets certain conditions. Some concepts from the max-plus algebra can be transformed to the min-plus, because of their structural similarity. This means that the inverse matrix concept in max-plus can be constructed into a min-plus version. Thus, this study will explain the inverse of a matrix over the min-plus algebra, property of multiplying two invertible matrices, and connection between invertible matrix and linear mapping used the literature study method, with literature sources such as books, journals, articles, and theses. The data analysis technique used in this research is qualitative data analysis technique. Then, this article has a principal result that is matrix A∈R_(ε^')^(n×n) has a right inverse if and only if there are permutations of σ and the value of λ_i<ε', i∈{1,2,3,…,n} such that A=P_σ ⊗^' D(λ_i ) which is the inverse of matrices. Furthermore, if B is the correct inverse that satisfies A⊗^' B=E then B⊗^' A=E and B is uniquely determined by A.
