Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of phytohormone and its concentration on germination of 1-week storage G. versteegii’s seeds. Factorial Completely Randomize Design was used with two factors: type of phytohormone (J1:Atonik, J2:gibberellic acid) and phytohormone concentration (K1:200ppm, K2:400ppm). ANOVA shows that phytohormone concentration was the only factor that has a significant difference at α=0.05. Four hundred ppm was an ideal concentration that supports G. versteegii’s seed's better germination rate on atonic and gibberellic acid. However, gibberellic acid has supported a better germination rate than atonic at 400 ppm concentration. It is concluded that gibberellic acid at 400 ppm concentration is the best treatment for G. versteegii germination.

Abstract

Jelly is a candy made from components of water or fruit juice, flavor, sugar, and gelling ingredients. Apart from fruit juice, jelly candy can be made from the basic ingredients of leaf extracts. One of the leaves that can be used is Muntingia calabura L. leaves. The existing jelly candies generally do not use natural ingredients as colorings and flavors. Fruits that can be used as natural ingredients in making jelly candy are Averrhoa bilimbi L. This study aims to determine the effect of adding starfruit extract to the physical quality, shelf life, and organoleptic of Muntingia calabura L.  leaves jelly candy. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 1 factor, namely the concentration of Averrhoa bilimbi L extract (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%). The results of this study indicate that the addition of Averrhoa bilimbi L extract does not significantly affect the physical quality (color) of Muntingia calabura L. leaves jelly candy. In the shelf life test, the addition of Averrhoa bilimbi L extract gave a real effect, where the best treatment was the concentration of Averrhoa bilimbi L. extract 15% and 20%. In the organoleptic test, the addition of Averrhoa bilimbi L extract did not significantly affect the level of preference (hedonic) and the level of acceptance (scoring) of the texture, but it did affect the level of panelist acceptance of the color, aroma, and taste of Muntingia calabura L.  leaves jelly candy. The best treatment of panelist acceptance level for color is at a concentration of 0% producing jelly candy with a yellowish-brown color and the best aroma and taste of jelly candy at a concentration of 20% producing jelly Averrhoa bilimbi L -flavored jelly candy with a slightly bitter sweet taste with a slightly bitter sweetness.

Abstract

Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana R.) is a shrub that is widely used as a natural sweetener. Stevia is a natural sweetener that contains stevioside and rebaudioside A that is 300 times higher, not carcinogenic, and low in calories as a sweet taste than cane sugar. This value is a chance to make stevia sugar as a cane sugar companion. The aim of this study is to measure the effect of growing media on stevia cuttings' growth. This test was undertaken by randomized complete block design (RBD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications in the PoliteknikWBI Practice Laboratory. In order to assess the effect of each treatment. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance at P<5%. The results of the research indicated that the mixed media of humus soil and litter compost (P4) provided the highest values for the observed parameters; the height of the stevia cuttings was 49.50 cm, had 222.76 leaves, the fresh leaf weight was 24.98 g, the total of fresh weight and dry weight was 49. 72 g and 21.70 g, respectively. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the suitable planting medium for stevia propagation using shoot cuttings is a mixture of humus soil and litter compost with a ratio of 1: 1.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to design and test the performance of drip irrigation techniques on dry land. This research method used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments, namely the faucet slope of 150 , 450, and 900 with 4 replications. In order to obtain 12 experimental sample units. Furthermore, the design results were carried out by testing the droplet discharge, uniformity coefficient, wetted soil area, and the amount of water needed during the vegetative growth of tomato plants. The test results based on the discharge value and the uniformity of drops show that the drip irrigation technique design is very good for application on dry land. Based on the discharge value, the wetted area is obtained with a wetting width of 25 cm and a depth of up to 35 cm. So that during the vegetative growth of tomato plants in treatment 150  requires 10200 ml / day of water, 12200 ml / day in treatment 450 , and 30800 ml / day in treatment 900 . Seeing the effect on tomato plant growth, it can be concluded that 150  is the best treatment to apply. on dry land.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of AB Mix fertilizer and various liquid organic fertilizers on the growth of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) hydroponically with an axis system. The design used was a Randomized Block Design (RAK). While the treatment design is factorial consisted of two factors studied, namely: 1. AB Mix (A) fertilizer consists of 3 levels A1: 500 ppm/plot, A2: 100 ppm/plot, A3: 1500/plot. 2. Various liquid organic fertilizers (C) with a dose of 40 cc/plot: C1 (POC Peel), C2 (POC HANTU),  and C3 (POC Banana Weevil), with three times replications. Parameters observed were plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of leaves (strands), flowering time (days), and number of flowers (days). The results showed that Mixed AB fertilizer has no significant effect on plant height and stem diameter, but significantly affects the number of leaves, flowering time, and the flowers' number. The application of various organic fertilizers did not show a significant effect in almost all parameters except for the flowering time and obtained the best organic fertilizer yield, namely POC Bonggol Pisang (C3). In addition, the interaction of AB Mix fertilizer and various organic fertilizers did not significantly affect all the parameters observed.

Abstract

Tobacco is a national strategic commodity that contributes to state revenues and employment. The purpose of this research is to analyze tobacco farming income and to analyze farmers' perceptions regarding the policy of increasing excise tariffs on processed tobacco/cigarette taxes. The research method used is qualitative analysis with a descriptive analysis approach. The research was conducted in Suralaga District, East Lombok Regency. Suralaga sub-district was chosen because it is a sub-district that mostly cultivates tobacco commodities. Respondents used in this study were 30 respondent farmers. 15 farmers live in Bagik Payung Village, some 15 farmers live in Waringin Village. Both villages are tobacco farmers and are located in Suralaga District, East Lombok Regency. The results showed that tobacco farming in East Lombok Regency was declared feasible because based on the analysis, the farming experienced an income (profit) of Rp. 8,045,942/hectare/planting season with a farming feasibility level of 1.70> 1 (feasible category). Most farmers have the perception that the policy of increasing tobacco excise/cigarette tax aims to help the national economy through increasing state revenues, not to control the level of cigarette consumption. The local/central government has never socialized the increase in tobacco/cigarette excise. In addition, farmers also assume that the government has never provided assistance or compensation to farmers after the policy of increasing tobacco/cigarette excise. The increase in cigarette excise does not have a direct impact on the decline in the economic condition of farmers. The factors that have the most direct influence on farmers' income are uncertain weather conditions (climate change) and the determination of the selling price grade of tobacco harvests which is less transparent.
