Journal of Character Education Society (JCES) | ISSN 2614-3666, is one of the devotion journals managed by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Muhammadiyah University of Mataram and published every January and July. The publication of JCES aims to disseminate conceptual thinking and ideas, especially the results of community service, including: (1) science, applied, social, economic, cultural, ICT development, and administrative services, (2) training and improvement of educational technology outcomes, agriculture, information and communication, and religion (3) Teaching and empowering community and community of students, youth and community institutions on an ongoing basis. All scope is realized to the community to form a society of character and uphold the values of education.

Abstract

Abstrak: Harmonisasi dalam kehidupan sangatlah penting karena masyarakat yang plural sudah pasti memiliki potensi perbedaan norma adat dan ketentuan syariat, sehingga pernyataan tersebut perlu dilakukan pendekatan yang mampu menyatukan elemen-elemennya agar tetap relevan dan diterima seluruh anggota masyarakat serta paling utama tidak menimbulkan ketegangan atau konflik. Masyarakat Sunda sebagai kelompok etnis mayoritas telah hidup berdampingan dalam suasana yang damai dengan kelompok-kelompok etnis lainnya. Selain itu, Islam sebagai agama yang dominan juga diwarnai dengan kehadiran agama-agama dan kepercayaan lokal lain seperti Kristen, Katolik, Hindu, Buddha, serta kepercayaan lokal Sunda Wiwitan yang turut berkontribusi membentuk kebudayaan multikultural di Jawa Barat. Kepercayaan Sunda Wiwitan merupakan aliran yang memuja kekuatan alam dan arwah leluhur atau biasa disebut sebagai animisme dan dinamisme. Cireundeu merupakan salah satu bukti bahwasanya harmonisasi antara Hukum Adat dan Hukum Islam dalam masyarakat multikultural memang benar terjadi. Terletak di Leuwigajah, Kecamatan Cimahi Selatan, Kota Cimahi. Cireundeu berasal dari nama “Pohon Reundeu” pohon yang berada di sekeliling air.Abstract:  Harmony in life is essential because a pluralistic society certainly has the potential for differences in customary norms and provisions so the statement needs to be approached that can unite its elements so that they remain relevant and accepted by all members of society and most importantly do not cause tension or conflict. The Sundanese people as the majority ethnic group have lived side by side in a peaceful atmosphere with other ethnic groups. In addition, Islam as the dominant religion is also colored by the presence of other local religions and beliefs such as Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and the local Sunda Wiwitan belief which has contributed to forming a multicultural culture in West Java. The Sunda Wiwitan belief is a school of thought that worships the power of nature and ancestral spirits and is commonly referred to as animism and dynamism. Cireundeu that is proof that the harmonization between Customary Law and Islamic Law in a multicultural society is indeed true. Located in Leuwigajah, South Cimahi District, Cimahi City. Cireundeu comes from the name "Reundeu Tree" a tree that is around the water.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menghidupkan kembali dan mendokumentasikan kekayaan spiritual Kampung Mahmud melalui tradisi dan upacara keagamaan yang telah diwariskan turun-temurun. Kampung Mahmud, yang terletak di Kabupaten Bandung, memiliki sejarah yang kaya yang berakar dari Eyang Abdul Manap dari Kerajaan Mataran. Kampung Mahmud terkenal dengan tradisi keagamaannya yang kuat serta pelaksanaan upacara-upacara keagamaan seperti Haolan, Rajaban, Muludan, Sepuluh Muharam, Pawai Obor, dan peringatan hari besar Islam. Program pengabdian ini menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dengan melibatkan tokoh sesepuh Kampung Mahmud, seorang yang berusia 70 tahun dan merupakan generasi ketujuh dari pendiri kampung. Melalui pendampingan, dialog, dan kegiatan bersama, pengabdian ini berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran serta partisipasi masyarakat dalam melestarikan tradisi keagamaan yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai penjaga nilai-nilai spiritual dan budaya, tetapi juga sebagai alat pemersatu di tengah tantangan modernisasi. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa peran pemimpin agama dan partisipasi aktif masyarakat sangat krusial dalam menjaga harmoni sosial dan spiritual komunitas. Dengan dukungan seluruh elemen masyarakat, Kampung Mahmud berhasil mempertahankan identitasnya melalui kekayaan tradisi dan upacara keagamaan yang dimiliki.Abstract:  This community service project aims to revive and document the spiritual wealth of Kampung Mahmud through traditions and religious ceremonies that have been passed down through generations. Kampung Mahmud, located in Bandung Regency, has a rich history rooted in Eyang Abdul Manap from the Mataran Kingdom. The village is renowned for its strong religious traditions and the observance of ceremonies such as Haolan, Rajaban, Muludan, Sepuluh Muharam, the Torch Parade, and the commemoration of major Islamic holidays. he program employs a participatory approach by involving a village elder of Kampung Mahmud a 70 year old who represents the seventh generation of the village's founders. Through guidance, dialogue, and collaborative activities, the project has successfully increased community awareness and participation in preserving religious traditions that not only safeguard spiritual and cultural values but also serve as a unifying force amid the challenges of modernization. The results indicate that the role of religious leaders and active community engagement is crucial in maintaining both social and spiritual harmony. With the support of all community stakeholders, Kampung Mahmud has effectively preserved its identity through its rich traditions and religious ceremonies.

Abstract

Abstrak: Di era digital, gawai (gadget) seakan tak terpisahkan dari kehidupan anak. Penggunaan gadget yang berlebihan nyatanya berdampak negatif pada kesehatan fisik dan mental mereka. Untuk menanggulangi hal ini, menghidupkan kembali "kaulinan barudak" (permainan anak) tradisional menjadi langkah strategis. Kaulinan barudak tak hanya menyenangkan, tapi juga kaya manfaat. Permainan seperti petak umpet, engrang-engrang, atau gobak sodor melatih motorik kasar dan kemampuan bersosialisasi. Selain itu, permainan seperti congklak atau egrang batok mengasah kecerdasan dan sportivitas. Bandingkan dengan gadget yang cenderung menghasilkan sifat individualistis dan kurangnya aktivitas fisik. Menghidupkan kembali kaulinan barudak membutuhkan kolaborasi berbagai pihak. Orang tua memegang peranan penting. Kenalkanlah anak pada permainan tradisional. Ajak mereka membuat alat permainan bersama menggunakan bahan sederhana. Luangkan waktu untuk bermain bersama anak. Selain keluarga, sekolah juga bisa berperan aktif. Alokasi waktu khusus untuk bermain tradisional dalam kegiatan sekolah dapat menjadi langkah awal. Libatkan anak dalam kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang berbasis permainan tradisional. Komunitas dan pemerintah daerah juga bisa ikut serta. Penyelenggaraan festival permainan rakyat atau lomba kaulinan barudak dapat menjadi daya tarik bagi anak. Bekerja sama dengan komunitas permainan tradisional untuk mengadakan pelatihan pembuatan alat permainan atau menjadi narasumber tentang sejarah dan filosofi kaulinan barudak di sekolah-sekolah bisa dipertimbangkan. Dengan menghidupkan kembali kaulinan barudak, kita tidak hanya melestarikan budaya, namun juga berupaya menciptakan generasi yang sehat, cerdas, dan berjiwa sosial. Anak-anak pun dapat memiliki keseimbangan dalam menggunakan gadget dan menikmati permainan yang sesungguhnya.Abstract: In the digital era, gadgets seem inseparable from children's lives. However, excessive gadget use negatively impacts their physical and mental health. To address this issue, reviving "kaulinan barudak" (traditional children's games) becomes a strategic step. Kaulinan barudak is not only fun but also rich in benefits. Games such as hide and seek, engrang-engrang, or gobak sodor help develop gross motor skills and social abilities. Additionally, games like congklak or egrang batok enhance intelligence and sportsmanship. Compared to gadgets, which tend to encourage individualistic behavior and a lack of physical activity, traditional games promote active and interactive play. Reviving kaulinan barudak requires collaboration from various stakeholders. Parents play a crucial role in introducing their children to traditional games. They can engage children in making play tools together using simple materials and dedicate time to playing with them. Besides families, schools can also take an active role by allocating special time for traditional games during school activities. Schools can integrate traditional game-based extracurricular programs to encourage participation. Moreover, communities and local governments can contribute by organizing folk game festivals or "kaulinan barudak" competitions to attract children's interest. Collaborating with traditional game communities to conduct workshops on making traditional play tools or inviting experts to teach the history and philosophy of kaulinan barudak in schools can also be considered. By reviving kaulinan barudak, we are not only preserving cultural heritage but also striving to create a healthier, smarter, and more socially engaged generation. Children can achieve a balance between using gadgets and experiencing real, interactive play.
