The acquisition of a universal child language include: 1) pre-speech, 2) babbling stage, 3) holophrastic, dan 4) combining worlds. Age benchmark in the development stages of language acquisition in children is very relative. That is, at this stage of development neurobiologinya children are able to pronounce certain sounds. At the end of the process and stages of language acquisition, the child can use and understand a large number of sentences, can engage in conversation and find out about the ongoing written language.

The idea of mental revolution stems from peoples perceived turmoil in various spheres of life that mental revolution must be done immediately. Given, first, the failure of the New Order regime in carrying out development, which has not touched the paradigm, mindset, or political culture in the framework of nation building. Mentality problem the nation is part of the cultural issues (culture). Therefore, one way to change it must be through cultural ways as well, namely through education. Mental revolution starts from education, considering the role of education is very strategic in shaping the childs mentality of the nation. Development of culture and character of the nation is realized through the realm of education. In other words, the mental revolution must begin in the classroom, that teachers should be at the forefront in realizing these ideals. In this study are revealed various things that include the idea of the beginning of the mental revolution in this country, the mental revolution for educators: the embodiment of indonesian human self, and the character of educators; a mental revolution.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan referensi, subtitusi, ellipsis, dan konjungsi sebagai piranti kohesi gramatikal antarkalimat yang digunakan dalam teks deskripsi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 17 Pesawaran. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis isi.Data penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah teks deskripsi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 17 Pesawaran.Untuk mengumpulkan teks deskripsi dilakukan teknik penugasan kepada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 17 Pesawaran. Hasil analisis ditemukan penggunaan piranti kohesi gramatikal dalam teks deskripsi pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 17 Pesawaran berupa: (a) 11 jenis referensi sejumlah 102 pemakaian; (b) 5 jenis subtitusi sejumlah 33 pemakaian; (c) 3 jenis ellipsis sejumlah 15 pemakaian; dan (d) 12 jenis konjungsi sejumlah 75 pemakaian.

Permasalahan yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini yakni tinjauan tentang kemampuan menulis surat edaran yang masih rendah. Hal ini dapat terlihat ketika siswa melakukan kesalahan dalam menulis kop surat/kepala surat, ketidaktepatan siswa dalam penggunaan bahasa surat, dan kurang memahami penggunaan ejaan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis surat edaran pada siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri 1 Bandar Lampung. Untuk mencapai hal tersebut, penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis surat edaran, baik per aspek maupun secara keseluruhan. Berdasarkan analisis data yang dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa belum dapat dikatakan mampu menulis surat edaran dengan baik dan benar. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari ketepatan siswa dalam menulis surat yang sesuai dengan sistematika penulisan surat edaran, penggunaan bahasa surat, dan penggunaan ejaan.

This experience is aims to describe the effect of potential in teaching materials Lets Reading more the fast to results of research development. The method used experiment. The sample of the study amounted to 251 students. Technique of collecting the data is using test. The result of the research shows that teaching materials of development result have positive effect to the improvement of fast reading ability and students understanding. This is evident from the results of statistical tests using SPSS 16 that SDN 1 OKU shows the mean value on pretest and postes is 24.318 with standard deviation of 14.043 and sig (2-tailed) 0.00. In SDN 3 OKU the mean value on pretest and postes is 20,000 with standard deviation of 12.302 and sig (2-tailed) 0.00. SDN 4 OKU shows the mean value on pretest and postes is 19.167 with standard deviation of 14.417 and sig (2-tailed) 0.00. SDN 5 OKU shows the mean value on pretest and postes is 27.727 with standard deviation of 15.409 and sig (2-tailed) 0.00. SDN 11 OKU shows the mean value on pretest and postes is 22 with standard deviation of 15.625 and sig (2-tailed) 0.00. SDN 12 OKU shows the mean value on prets and postes is 17,931 with standard deviation of 12,643 and sig (2-tailed) 0,00. SDN 18 OKU shows the mean value on pretest and postes is 18.84 with standard deviation of 13.95 and sig (2-tailed) 0.00. SDN 24 OKU shows the mean value on pretest and postes is 25.45 with standard deviation of 11.75 and sig (2-tailed) 0.00. From the results of the analysis the number 0.00 is smaller than the alpha value of 0.05. Thus, a significant difference between the value before and after the student uses the Let Reading Material. This means learning materials Lets Reading more the fast be appropriate for elementary school students of OKU Regency.

This research aims to describe the grammatical cohesive devices prominently used in students’ essay, and to describe the students’ wrong used of grammatical cohesive devices in their essays. In conducting the research, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative method. The data of the research are taken from students’ essay on sixth semester at STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung. The researcher uses a test to collect the data. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses the procedure such as recording the data in the data card, categorizing the data based on the four types of grammatical cohesive devices, summing up the total number of grammatical cohesive devices frequencies, finding the wrong use of grammatical cohesive device, describing the data and drawing conclusion. The result shows that the types of grammatical cohesive devices in students’ essay are reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction. Reference and conjunction are the prominent types of cohesive devices used in students’ essay. The students’ wrongs in grammatical cohesive devices lie on the use of reference and conjunction with the total number of incorrect reference is 43 out of 515 data and incorrect conjunction is 7 out of 194 data.

The aim of this research is (1) to describe the ability of fourth semester students of Language Education Program, Indonesian and Regional Literature to distinguish compounds and phrases and (2) to describe students difficulties in differentiating compound words and phrases. The method used in this research is descriptive method. Data collection techniques in this study using written test and questionnaires. Data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis technique. The result of the analysis of written test showed that the students who got the value of ≥ 80 and above or predicate very good amounted to 18 people (40.90%), students who scored 70-79 or got the good rating category there were 5 people (11.38% , students who got the score of 56-69 or got the predicate of appraisal enough able to have 17 people (38,63%), student who get score 40-55 or get predicate of insufficient assessment there are 4 people (9,09%), student gets the value of ≤ 40 or below or get the rating predicate failed there are 0 people (0%). Based on the above description can be seen that the students who got the value of ≥ 70 and above as many as 23 people (52.28%), while those who declared not able or got ≤ 70 less as many as 21 people (47.72%). So, the fourth semester students of Language Education Program, Indonesian Literature, and Region are able to differentiate compound words and phrases.

The problem of this research is many students get difficulties in writing especially in writing descriptive text. In this research the researcher tried to investigate Jot Thoughts in teaching writing. The objective of this research are to know and describe the significant of the influence of Jot Thoughts towards students’ writing ability in Descriptive text, and to know and describe the average score of students’ writing ability in writing Descriptive text which is taught through Jot Thoughts higher than which is taught through conventional technique. The research was conducted at eight grade students of SMPN 3 Pardasuka, Pringsewu in 2016/2017. In this research the researcher used experimental method. The population of the this research are 80 students in 3 classes. The sample of the research were two classes, the first class was VIII A consisted of 26 students as the experimental class and the second class was VIII C consisted of 26 as the control class. In the experimental class was the students were taught by Jot Thoughts and in control class the students were taught by using the conventional technique. In conducting the research, the writer used Cluster Random Sampling technique to establish the experiment class and the control class, because all students were the sample is homogeneous. In data collecting technique, it was used written test, it is include instruction that students should make a composition which consist at least 100 words based on the topic chosen. In data analysis, the writer used t-test formula. It was found that ttest > ttable = 2.85 > 2.02. It means that Hα is accepted. So, the researcher concluded that there is the influence of using Jot Thoughts towards students’ writing ability in Descriptive text at eighth class of SMP Negeri 3 Pardasuka Pringsewu in 2016/2017.

This study discusses about the causative factors of lack in mastering Indonesian vocabulary at SMA Trisakti Baturaja OKU. Population and sample in this study was class X consist of 14 students, class XI consist of 17 students and class XII consist of 25 students, total 56 students. The method of this study was descriptive method. The author used questionnaire and interview in collecting the data. Based on the result of data analysis from questionnaire, 50% students like vocabulary of common words, 65.38% most of the students get the reading material from the school library, 55.78% mostly think vocabulary items rather easy to understand by the students, 80.77% students difficulty in understanding the material of vocabulary was not able to follow the lesson, 86.54% most of the students listen attentively, 44.23% of students were not difficult to receive lesson when teacher explained the material, 71.15% most of students difficult in understanding the vocabulary material because of teacher's explanation was too quick and fast, 78.5% students were happy with the way teachers teach, 40.38% students sometimes read books related to Indonesian vocabulary, 46.15% sometimes teacher explain the material given not understand yet, from the result of interview with teacher it can be concluded that teacher giving material based on Indonesian textbooks and school library.
